It's been fairly well summed up by a couple of people, but one of me team-mates (Raffazza) articulated it fairly well:
"a) think you will do better with them (more and more people used to dealing with standard dark elf builds)
b) every tournament you use WE vastly increases experience with them
c) every tournament you use WE in increases chances of best in race trophy (which are awesome)
d) every mistake you do with WE is a learning experience, every mistake you do with DE you'll get pissed off
e) it'll be far more fun ruining hobbies when people not expecting it"

Fair enough. Shame you can't take the Wood Elves, they seem like a cool army especially when best army trophies are taken into account, but I know the feeling about trying to make a list you like with the models you have, I'm having a hellishly hard time making a Warriors list for NZ's biggest Tournament (50 whole players!) atm, the Rare choices are giving me a headache. Doesn't help that all the advice I get is take a Failcannon.

How many points is it, and any comp? One of my team-mates is likely taking Warriors to the ETC, so we're having a fair bit of discussion between ourselves with regards to 2.4K Warriors lists, and I'm more than happy to give you some thoughts if you want to hear them?![]()

Definitely mate, that'd be awesome. Comp is 2400pts, standard ETC type restrictions, 450pt unit cap, max 12 dice, items that add dice to the pool count toward this, no conga lines, no Folding Fortress, No SC's, max 2 rare choices unless they are things like Chaos Spawn. Army specific comp for Warriors is just Failcannons 0-1.
It would be great to hear your thoughts.

I am really grateful for the excellent reports sir. I look forward to the next tourney - I have my fingers crossed that it's a double level 4, double cauldron list of amazingness.

Rosstifer I've got a few 2400 builds I've had great success with. My main advice would be to use heavens on a sorc lord. The lore is crazy good.
Some good games, no doubt you would have finished higher if you had got the deserved 20 from the high elf match.
I would like to see some more practice games, maybe with you trying some new in each match -a tweak to the list here and there. Also as to whether to take WE or DE next, I like your WE games alot as you are much more gracious in defeat and you explain your tactics much clearer. On the other hand I love hearing the vitriol from you that playing the DE force inspires.
No lizard players local?
We do indeed have a local Lizards player but he has silly lists that it takes a huge amount of persuasion from us to get him to change... it's only in the last couple of months that he finally mounted both his Scar-Vets and swapped from Life to Light.
Baby steps![]()

Good effort by the underdog elves-
man high elves kinda blow without making the lvl4 immune to everything or book o cheese.
I bet they get a new book before wood elves....
"just make the Base size reasonable"
go go 100mm by 100mm!
"they cannot stop the signal-!"
Well in my experience it either gets shot and dies (I play against Empire and Orcs and Goblins alot), Misfires and dies, Charges into combat and dies, or causes horrible miscasts on my Wizards (regardless of the Infernal Puppet). Night Goblins have jabbed it to death! I think sometimes certain models just don't work for certain people no matter what you do.
Also, cheers for the PM Tom, very helpful, that build is certainly hard as nails!

Tom a question, how would you deal with Bretonnians with your Wood Elf army? It must be a pretty difficult matchup facing cheap archers, 2+ AS fast moving models. I mean I can guess you will be diverting a lot with eagles and such.
Bretonnians ARE NOT a pure Knightly army.
Half the army choices consist out of Peasants and Damsels.
'Pride cometh before a choppa in the face'
I've only played them once and I pretty much got run straight over, but I think that blocking off with eagles and pumping all the GG into one lance a turn should get rid of it- lances usually only have 14 or so models in them if they're loaded up with characters, and GG at short range will burn through that save fairly quickly- I know Dark Elf shooting drops Brets fairly quickly due to the AP, and at short range GG have the same effect on armour but wound more easily as well. Deploying Dryads out wide could also work, as it allows you to threaten lance flanks with them- you won't break his Steadfast or kill him outright, but getting into the flanks of a couple of lances plays to a lot of the Bret weaknesses- namely, they are still a human army and so have bad ld out of the bubbles, so get them taking those break tests. Secondly, an army with a low, elite model count can't afford to have a lance stuck fighting 96pts of Dryads for 4 rounds of combat.
So, I think I'd look to block off a couple of lances, try and get Dryads into the flanks of another couple and focus fire one lance down each phase. Wood Elves, in the style I play at least, also have the advantage of not losing a load of points from any given combat- once you run out of eagles, block him off with glade guard and put 80 S4 shots into him. He charges, you lose a unit of glade guard. Next turn, you block him off and put 70 S4 shots into him. You'll lose units doing so, but you should be able to outlast him- the trick will be, I think, to isolate one lance each turn so that you can smash it, whilst the rest has to burn through chaff.
Also, Cure of Anraheir on Brets... TomNomNom...

I have been pondering including the scarvets, i get the idea that they can be very hard to kill with the right loadout (YOUSHALLNOTPASS!) But wouldnt they just lose to combat res? One could have the stubborn crown + stuff so hes hard to kill and always is on 3D6 Ld8. But wouldnt the other one just draw at best against even an average unit, +1banner+3ranks VS the scarvets 4 attacks. Thats assuming he kills 4 with his 4 attacks.
Im just not seeing the item loadouts.
