So there's at least 2 Skaven armies, a Bloodthirster and a Destroyer at the tournament today out of a field of 16. My money says I play nothing but them or Ogres

6th isn't bad. Especially seen as though the playing field was quite limited in terms of armies to face. If you ditched the mage altogether you could get another 4 treekin (I have been experimenting with mageless lists)

Also, whats the map on your wall, it rings a bell (elder scrolls springs to mind) but i can't place it

1st off-
How dare you sir not take pictures of beautiful Skaven ??

2ndly what about "curse of Anrehier" on the Doom Wheel? Bad odds but it is something, unless they rule against "open ground" not counting as terrain-jerks.
Another option is a character on a mount with lots of strength via a potion. Some chaff in front to take the lighting bolts on the turn before you charge in with the character.

Tried out the Beasts level 3 in a game yesterday against High Elves, unfortunately we had to play on a 4x4 so I didn't take any pictures (suffice to say, 66 Glade Guard did what it always does to High Elves). I found I was fine in terms of spell selection, but every time I wanted to cast the big version of Wildform or Curse of Anraheir I found myself wishing I had the extra level purely for casting (both of those spells need a 13 to cast, which is a little bit risky on 3 dice with just a level 3). So, back in comes the 4th level, which means I have to drop something. Not sure what, as I really liked the 7th Waywatchers in each unit :/

Ya wild forms range is the big suck-
All signature spells wish they had the range of miasma-wonder who thought 48" was proper spell range.

So Tom, rather than put the Level 4 back in, why not just use a 4th dice to cast?

4 dice increases my chance of blowing up (I hate using more than 3 when my mage gives away almost 400pts and I get so little return out of the spell), and more often than not I want to be able to cast both Wildform and Curse. If I have 8 dice it's fine, 6/7 is not quite enough unless I have the +4 instead of +3.

Understood sir, make sense. I would say keep trying a few more games with the level 3 before ditching the extra waywatchers. I really feel like your lists biggest issue at the moment is the inconsistency of the KB and more WW means more chances.

I do dearly love my Waywatchers, especially now that I'm in the process of painting up 10 of the metals. Such nice models...

I think all the wood elf models are really exceptional, and I think you do a good job painting them as well.

Suffered my first wood elf loss on Saturday. Old Empire. Horrible luck on my side mixed with a Stank and 2 mortars made me conceed after his turn 3. IF 3D6 fire ball against one unit of Treekin wiped them out. 27 inch move by the Stank put it right in the middle of everything else. Charged it with my remaining unit of Treekin (went for 2 units of 4) Out of all 12 attacks didn't roll one 6 to wound, then got flanked by some Greatswords that happened to have the flaming banner. Happy days

While this was going on his two mortars proceeded to wipe out my glade guard units. I thought Amber spear would be able to do something but I didn't meet the casting value in both my turns using 6 dice.

I played a second game against the same list after, this time using an O&G army getting a win quite comfortably. I honestly can not think how to deal with that stank as the woodies. Any idea's? My mates skint so I suspect I'll be playing against the old book a few more times before I get the new stank up in my grill.

Double fleeing charges will work for the time being (until it gets Random Movement- yay for retards...), and you can also buy some time by charging eagles into it- seeing as he can't attack in your turn, he has to spend his turn grinding a pigeon into the dust and can't move. Next turn, you charge your second eagle in, and he has to waste another turn killing that instead of getting to grips with your army- just be sure not to start sacking eagles until you need to ie it's almost on top of you. Beyond that, all I can think is to sacrifice a unit of glade guard each turn and ignore it as best you can, focusing on the stuff you can actually kill. Not being able to over-run/pursue does mean you can limit the damage somewhat even if you can't actually kill it

When it goes down to T6 Amber Spear will be a more viable option, but as it stands (and tbh even at T6) I don't really buy it as a valid answer. Still, it might be worth a speculative attempt- better than nothing...
