Void Dragon (Necrons)

So basic idea is this... In short...

For those of you who don't know the Necron fluff there are 4 C'Tan left, 2 of these have playable models. One of the other 2 is called the "Void Dragon" it is widely believed by gamers that the Void dragon is imprisoned on Mars. And that the Void Dragon and the "Machine God" are one and the same. The whole time that the Void Dragon has been imprisoned there he has been influencing the adeptus Mechancicus.

Now Imagine.... A large Necron force overruns a minor Forgeworld out on the rim of the galaxy. Once taking it over the Necron lords look around and see the fingerprints of the Void Dragon everywhere. After that they start assimilating the tech from the adeptus mechanicus.

Don't think about the fluff too hard or it might fall apart. You might ask if Necron tech is so much more advanced then the gear of the Admech, why would Necrons assimilate the Adeptus Mechancius stuff?

But if there is two things ive learned about 40k in the 10 years or so ive been involved in the hobby its...

1) The 40K galaxy is a big place and anything can happen.
2) Its nice to see a themed army thats not right out of the box.

So in short. Im making a Void Dragon themed army. It will feature Necrons with an array of Imperial/Admech technology (Bitz). As well as other Themes that are traditional admech (Tracked heavy weapons).

So to start out here are 5 warriors and a destroyer. You can see i did some modifications to the heads of the Necrons. The destroyer also now has a tracked body (made from a lot of Ork & SM bitz). The tracked body mimics the admech Praetorians. (See link of Praetorians imagine i grabbed from somewhere off google).

Looking good, I think the destroyer would look great with legs. Might just have to use that on my own army, wouldn't really fit your army background...or would it?

LOve the tucked in heads! Try staritening the legs, and youll get some REALLY imposing models.

Yeah me and the eater decided that my warriors needed a headswap to really give them something that poped out. Building up the collar was an easy alternative.

I tried the "upright" Necron thing on a warrior a year or two back, wasn't outrageously impressed. However i may revisit it.

The legs on the destroyer would probably be find as far as theme goes (as Admech does love their walkers). But I've already started 6 of the tracked bases.

Great idea for a theme, and don't let any of those fluff nay-sayers get you down! The warriors look really good and definatly show off the theme in a subtle way; the collars give them a Mk.8 power armour vibe. Destroyers also look good, what's next on the list? Any plans for making the viod dragon itself?

Inandantia - Right now im thinking 2x Lords, 20x Warriors, 10x Immortials, 6x Destroyers and 2 or 3 Wraiths. This will get me pretty close to 1500. Also no plans on a void dragon model just yet.

My Emperor Titan is done.

The eater got sidetracked and started working on a Tryanid army. Then he had a kid. Now he is working on a Warmachine army as well as adding units to his Lost & The Damned and Ork Forces.

Maybe one day he will get back to his emperor titan so we can put 2 finished ones on the table across from each other.

hm....i like the idea....im actually playing necrons now. I have a small army and i still need to but more. but anyway, I think your army is actually very creative but to be honest, I dont really think it fits well. it's making the necrons more primitive. and second, alll the necrons dont really think for themselves…pretty much only the overlords. but yes I guess if you want an orkish necron army, it's not too bad. I myself am making my necron void dragon army atm. I basically took regular necrons and painted green bits red. for a c'tan, i plan to make this gigantic robotic looking dragon. anyway..ill post pics later in a separate thread.

I really enjoy seeing this level of creativity, well done! Think that youll have a nice looking army when its all said and done. Any thoughts on modification to the vehicles? Thats the one thing Ive hard a hard tiem coming up with.
