Schlissi's Dwarfs - a log of building and painting

    Hello Folks of Warseer

as I am a bit bored of painting Tourqoise Marines, I started a new Project. Dwarfs in Yellow and Red. As many as possible, and as many cannons as possible. Here are my first painted Minis. Miners, Warriors and a cannon are still WIP like the gigantic Zeppelin I am building at the moment.

I already hate myself for this decision, but I plan to paint the whole army on the same level, like the figures in the attachments.

    C&C Welcome

Promising start, I myself have a fully painted dwarf army but repainting it to Red, Orange, and Blu-ish colours. I have a thread in this same forum also.

Are you planning on playing army or just for looks? "planning",- I don't even know do you already have a dwarf army.

Great work so far. I think the colours work really well, especially on the cloaks

Miners are ready! I will stock them up to a strength of 20, on the field as 30 with rank fillers.
Pictures of the Zeppelin aka "Big Hilda" or "the Hindendwarf" will come as soon as I finished the building of the balloon.

    cheers, Schlissi

The base model of the balloon is ready. Next step is the ship and the hull.

Re: Schlissi's Dwarfs - a log of building and painting

Started to build some thunderers today. I made a rank-filler out of the drill from the miners. It is not finished yet, it needs an ammo-chain and some boxes with bullets. I think I will take a few parts of the cannon kit for that.

Does anybody have an idea for rank-fillers for my Warriors with greatweapon? I think that thirty times the same pose looks awful.

    Cheers, Schlissi

You said, that your Zeppelin was going to be big... now that is really scary!

Liking your idea and execution of the rank fillers a lot, cool!

I think your unit filler will be fine. At this point, my dwarves are almost all unit filler. I psyched for your zepplin too. Keep em coming!

That Zeppelin is HUGE! And it already looks better than the one from the Big Red Book! I'm very curious to see what you'll come up with for the rest of the model. When it's done we should engage in a battle for the Warhammer skies!

The rank-fillers also look very nice. No real inspiration for the great weapon unit, but you can't go far wrong with a couple of ale barrels with a drunk Dwarf on top...

Re: Schlissi's Dwarfs - a log of building and painting

I managed to make the first few layers of fiberglass on the Airship as well as I finished the net of strings that is supposed to hold the whole thing together. I think the hull will be ready on Sunday, then it's time to convert the organ-cannons who are on the galleries on the side of the balloon. They will be two and two barrels instead of four in a row, as the normal design wouldn't fit.

@Confessor_Atol: I think I will take some of yours!

@ Boreas_NL: Thanks! Simple things like that is exactly what I wanted!

    Cheers, Schlissi

    Hello again,

I managed to get the first pack of warriors ready. In the attachments of this post you will find both types of warriors,
a runesmith and the silverbeard of my longbeards with hand weapon and shield.
My longbeards will all have cloaks in this fabulous golden yellow. In my opinion a color that really has earned its name.

    Cheers, Schlissi

Here are some shots from the army so far. It's ready for the 2000 Points. I will add some more thunderers, warriors with greatweapon and another cannon or two. The Blimp is doing well, I will start to build the ship (gondola?) after my exams.

    Cheers, schlissi

Your dwarves are going along nicely. In fact, faster than mine. Just loving the color scheme because it fits so well to your tiny little mans.

For my defense I have to say that I just finished School, I have all the time that I want to have and I spend most of it for painting my lil' stumpenz.

Yesterday, I painted the Warrior-Champ for my guys with greatweapon. The Metal guy with the pipe. I changed his shield for a bag in which he can store his dope. Hopefully, I will get a bunch of Thunderers today, so I can fill them up to a strength of 50.

Oh - and the question "what will your first model be?" is clear for me: The dwarf BSB! I hate it, when a metal standart falls down and two hours of work are destroyed in an instant, so this will be my first Finecast mini.

    Cheers, Schlissi

Sorry, I have been busy with some weird things in the meantime, do I will show you my first Finecast Mini instead of some Dwarfs. It's the Imperium-General. I hope that The Dwarf BSB will be released in Finecast before the Armies on Parade challenge ends.

    Next up is some artillery.
