Welcome to Nowhere! - A Malifaux log

    Hey there!

For years, I've been searching for a game that would pick my girlfriend's interest. She didn't really care about WHFB/40k/Necromunda/Mordheim. A few months ago I showed her some pictures of Wyrd's miniatures, and she kinda "fell in love" with that steampunk/victorian/horror/western/fantasy theme. It didn't take long for us to order some starter boxes, and I managed to talk a friend into ordering one too! So, it will be a "tale of three gamers" kind of log - although I'll be the only one who'll post our progress.

    So, let's see some pics!

Gremlins (my gf's crew) - assembled, based, undercoated

There are close-up shots of each member, just ask if you wish to see them.

    Death Marshals
(my friend's crew) - assembled, based, undercoated

Bases were made by me, and there's a chance that I'll be painting them for him. He doesn't really like to paint, he's more into gaming.

Showgirls (my crew) - assembled, based, undercoated, some painted

During the summer, I plan to make a display base for them, and in December, I'd like to take them to the local Games Day.

Close-ups of the painted Performer (I've painted the base since then):

I'm also done with the other Performer and Cassandra, I might have some photos soon.

    That's it for now.
    See ya!
The Gods made Heavy Metal - an Iron Warriors log (with some Word Bearer stuff)
My Random Log - everything else, I guess
My Necromunda log - now with Delaques!

Aaaand...here are the new photos of the girls!

    Cassandra, Colette's apprentice

    Performer No.2

And a group shot of them:

Oh, and a pic of a sign for their display base:

    More pics in this album.

We'll have the first game tomorrow, I'm really interested how it turns out!

I know next to nothing about the game itself, but I really like those models so maybe I'll have to look into it.

Great work on the painting and basing though. I very much look forward to seeing them all finished Keep it up!

Thanks! Their models are really cool (well, almost all of them - I'm not really into the Ressurectionists).

Had the first game today, LadyJ vs Colette. Let's say that I ALMOST won with the Colette crew, they will be awesome when I learn how to do some combos with them

A nice game (just finished reading the rulebook yesterday) and great models. You added a very nice paint job and I will come back to see how it goes.

And some humor, can't go wrong there!

    Thanks!

I managed to finish 2 terrain pieces yesterday, a Hanging Tree and a scrap pile, pics coming tomorrow.
Also, now I've got a Coryphee Duet, their bases are also done.
AND hopefully I'll get my Mechanical Doves and the Freikorps starter + Hamelin (minion version) today or on Monday.
I'll be doing some sewer bases for the mercenaries, will have some photos of the test base too.

    That was funny

The two terrain features aren't exactly the size that's written in the rulebook, but we'll only use them in friendly games, and the 'rule of cool' is more important there for us.

    Now, on to photos:

Re: Welcome to Nowhere! - A Malifaux log

    Thanks!

My new "toys" finally arrived: Mechanical Doves, a Freikorps starter, Hamelin (minion version), a Witch Hunters starter for my friend and various Rasputina things for my gf.
Meanwhile I've done the "skin" on my mannequins and coryphées, otherwise they are REALLY WIP...

    Pics:

    And the based Sonnia crew:

That's it for now, hope I'll be done with the Freikorps basing/undercoating soon, and I'd like to do a tutorial on painting brass in a few days.

I am looking forward to seeing the bases and models joined, great work. Will You use magnets for the multi-choice-bases (looks like coins now)?

Excellent painting, I want to use some of these miniatures with the Inquisitor ruleset, so very much looking foward to seeing how they turn out.

Nah, I'll just use the coins right now, maybe later when I can get some magnets, I'll try that too.

And yeah, she has pretty good taste, but I wonder if she'll be able to beat me with her new crew

Re: Welcome to Nowhere! - A Malifaux log

Riiight...I've had time to do some work on the Freikorps, based all of them, undercoated and painted the bases.
Also, my gf has three of her models based&undercoated, we even had a game yesterday.
Raspy vs Von Schill, it was pretty fun, I barely managed to win (yeah, I have to find out how to use the Trapper well, he died on turn 2. But Hamelin is AWESOME with the Freikorps)

    Pics!
    Raspy, Silent One, Hoarcat Pride:

The "thing" on Raspy's base will be painted like ice.

    Freikorps:

I'll be doing the "water" after they are varnished, because I'm doing that with gloss varnish.

And the small conversions I've done:

Nix doesn't need a leash, he's a faithful dog. And the picture is too dark because Hamelin's lantern isn't painted

That's it for now, see ya later!

Re: Welcome to Nowhere! - A Malifaux log

    Heya!

    Been working on some terrain:
    Modular fences

    Soulstone Vein

    Graveyard

And a multi-purpose one: Creepy Structure or Magic Nexus (as the pillar has a huge soulstone on the top), and since the round "base" of the statue is 50mm, I can also use it as an Ancient Monument!

Another finished base for the Freikorps:

The showgirls are awesome. Makes me want to dig out mine and finish painting them. Great idea to paint the coryphees as weathered metal.
Where did you get that fence on the Freikorps base?

Thanks! I just had to do something different for the Coryphées' "skin"
That fence is some OOP etched brass thing from a hungarian company that isn't around anymore. It's a shame, I loved their products.
