    The Fimir of Albion

Hi all, this here's my first thread on warseer. I've put this up on a few forums around the ol internet, but with the army that it is, the more feedback I can get, the better.

So here what I'm doing. It's a fimir army based on the warriors of chaos book for warhammer. For starters I'm doing a 2000pt army, two blocks of fimm (chaos warriors) one block of chaos ogres (fianna fimm) sorceror lord (meargh), hellcannon (Crom, the great worm) marauder horse (Celtic style Albion humans) warhounds (Celt mastiffs) and various fimir heroes. Due to the lack of models available, I'm having to do a fair bit of sculpting myself. Here's how the army looks so far:

    Fimm champion

    Fimm standard bearer

    Fimm musician

    Fianna Fimm unit

    Fimm warrior

    Fimm test model

More pics as the army progresses. I'm working on the first block of twenty fimm warriors now, slow going, but getting there.

    Oh hell yes!

Great sculpting, awesome concept and the test model looks really cool.

The mention of fimirs in the rulebook and the Sigmar trilogy has really got me hoping they'll bring them back.

I said on CDO, but AWESOME!

I think you have to consider making some slaves, for them.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the kind words! I have some more fimir head variants I've sculpted to try out, a fimm with helm and a leather mask, I'll have them up in a few days. Making the army will be a long road, but I'm totally obsessed with getting it done...

    Cool models!

You don't think beastmen or some other army would fit better than WoC? My view of Fimir doesn't include a 4+ armour save, but then there may be old fluff out there that I haven't read.

I tried to find it in the lexicanum, but it has no article about them.

Fimirs are a race of rapists that live in swamps... I know it's a pretty nasty description (they're rapists coz they got no female iirc, and have to rely on other species to reproduce) They've been off the warhammer radar for years, but somehow got mentioned in the current BRB in the terrains section.
Anyway, cool project, you got a long road ahead of you, good luck

Yes, oh yes!!! You should consider creating molds for those heads and "circulate" them. Pretty sure many people would love to get their hands on them, and by the look of it you are a very talented sculptor!

    Re: The Fimir of Albion

Woah, thanks for the comments folks, it's a great encouragement to keep at the army. It's 2000pts or bust!

@mrtn: I originally considered the beastmen, as the ambush rule really matches the fluff, but there was no match in the army list for the meargh (female matriarch sorceress, ogre sized) In the WoC list, the sorcerer lord on palanquin or disc seemed to match what I wanted. Also, the mark of Nurgle nicely mimics the effects of the fimir mist. 4+ is a lot of save for a fimm, but fluff wise I imagine the large bronze belly-shields and the disorientation the fimir's enemies suffer in the mist make it more plausible.

Fimirs are a race of rapists that live in swamp
@Urgat: Yeah, I can't argue with that. The fimir are a pretty nasty bunch, which explains why folks have never heard of them, and yet, they're in the 8th ed rule book and the Sigmar trilogy, so GW are still holding onto them. I'm basing my fimir in Albion, and parts of the army are allied Celtic-style humans in an effort to mitigate the rather unsavoury practices of the fimir. I've been using warpstone 25's fimir special as my bible for theming the army.

@Daniel36: Cheers! Already happening. My production of the heads is pretty primitive, instant mould and greenstuff, I'd love to get the masters made up properly, but as it's not my IP, I can't sell them. I have to give credit to Jes Goodwin's original fimir though, which all the heads are based off of. I have given some sets away. I believe one set is destined for a fimir BB team!

It's better than that, they have females, they're just sterile!

Could the OK book possibly work, with Ironguts having bigger weapons, Bulls as regular Fimir etc. Leadbelchers could be Fimir with the addition of a couple of the River Troll Vomit pieces- artillery dice vomit! (Don't ask about the misfire...)

Fantastic sculpting, especially on the heads with hoods, very menacing looking. Keep up the great work, will definitely follow this log!

    Thanks

    Re: The Fimir of Albion

    Thanks indeed.

@muse1c: Yeah, I may use the OK book for an alternate build. I had thought to use bulls as fianna fimm, then the fimir nobles as ironguts, Dirach as butchers etc. The main reason I decided against it for the first build was I really wanted human scale fimir. The leadbelchers I thought would work well as fenbeasts, though the vomit piece from the trolls I hadn't thought of. Nice...

Awesome. I salute you. All of them are really good.

@TimLeeson: You clearly don't look at WHFB logs then. There are plenty of interesting fantasy plogs. Maybe you could show us how it is done with some Cthulhu-type stuff for fantasy?
