    Re: The Fimir of Albion

Did you think about my idea to run them as Beastmen instead of WoC? That's what Angry Lawyer did with his Fimir army.

Those are looking good, but I'd like bigger pictures to see the details.

I responded to you at the time, but the post seemed to have evaporated. (?) Anyway, yes, I did consider beastmen, but I found no way of running a wizard lord as the general, plus I wanted to use the marks of chaos as a way to theme the army. That said, I may run a beasts list as an alternative and see how it goes. It won't require much in the way of extra figures, perhaps some more skirmishers and maybe another couple of large creatures.

Angry Lawyer has done a great job with his fimir. I considered using more heroquest guys, but I wanted to be able to add more variety to the units, so I took the crazy road.

I'll post some bigger pics when I get the next batch up, I'm tempted to start painting a unit even though I promised myself I'd assemble the whole army first.

Why wouldn't you be able to run a wizard lord? Magic heavy is one of the most successful ways to play beastmen, by taking a level 4 and then 2-3 level 1's with the herdstone shard.

Personally I could never assemble a whole army without painting anything, I'd just be depressed by the sea of grey plastic.

I should have mentioned a wizard lord with the meargh's base size, 40 - 50mm. The only mount options available for the beasts great bray shaman are chariots. I may, however, sculpt a human-scale meargh and dirach for just that reason, as the rest of the army fits nicely with the fimir theme.

Me either. My reasoning is to try to get it playable as soon as possible, but it's difficult. I may crack and paint the meargh soon.

Pretty amazing stuff. I'm inspired to redo the characters in my army using savage orc parts.

Thanks folks. Nice to see another fimir player here, that's a cool army you have Mr Lawyer.

Challenge accepted sir. Consider your clans days numbered. Are you giving the new fimir army book a shot?

    Re: The Fimir of Albion

I'm more keen on the Beastmen rules. The last Fimir ruleset I looked at has toughness 5(!) Shearl, which is madness for what are essentially skavenslave equivalents.

    Anyways - MOAR PICTURES!

    Re: The Fimir of Albion

Aye, that is a bit crazy. I'm still planning on using the warriors of chaos list for the first 2000pts, bit when I have that painted up I may try a beasts list too. I'm going to use Albion human tribesmen as shearl, so they fit nicely into the marauder slot in the WoC list, but could equally do well as ungor.

Working on two more fimm at the moment (I got distracted doing a terrain piece, a rather nice statue I picked up on ebay) a helmeted fellow and another hooded fimm. I'm gradually grinding my way toward the finished 20 man unit. Once they are assembled I shall be picturing ye up.

    Re: The Fimir of Albion

I've been working away on my first fimm unit for a while now. It's pretty intensive, as most of the models in the unit require pretty extensive conversion. That said, I only have six fimm left to make for the first unit. I've been working on the unit filler since these photos were taken, adding some crows to the standing stone flying over the unit, and another crow on the standard to give the impression the crows are flying over the unit. Nearly there! After this, I need another unit of 20 fimm, the hellcannon (crom, the great worm) the bsb, and a unit of 5 light cavalry and 5 war dogs. By the powers, this army might get finished after all...

    Wow...greate idea for an army
I love the painting on your test model, and realy nice base

Don't know is there any place in your army conception, but I think that something like swampthing may fit. As i remember it was mentioned in old WHF RPG.

Anyway cool job! Count me as a loyal subscriber

Cheers Grain. Actually, I do plan on using six fenbeasts as a unit of trolls.

    Re: The Fimir of Albion

Great Plog mrsaturday, nice to see the Fimir ressurected, a suggestion that might save you some money if not time would be to use the old 5th edition (i believe) starter set Saurus warriors, they are less scaled than the current ones and i think would look great with the same treatment you've given the new savage orcs. Not sure how they'd compare size wise as even though they are also on 25mm bases they are muhc older than the new savage orcs and so probably smaller. You should be able to pick them up cheap from ebay, just an idea.

    Re: The Fimir of Albion

Cheers Bueno. That's a nice idea, I actually have a few of those guys somewhere, I must dig them out later. Someone also suggested using the old Kroxigor for the larger fimir with some conversion, I might try that too. I have the inklings of an idea for a mount for a fimir mist mor (hero) using a chaos spawn converted to look like a warped fimir (if you've ever read Slaine from 2000ad you know what I mean) with ogham stones embedded in his back for the hero to cling onto. Mainly though, I have to grind through two units of twenty fimm warriors...

    Very nice!
