3 and 2 isn't too bad a score for a new army. Next time I hope it's even better!

Thanks, I'm happy enough with it. For now...
After some final touches and the addition of some foetid swamp water, here's the withered, saggy leader of the Fir Domhan, Morgayne. She's not as scary as a chaos lord, or as nimble as a dark elf sorceress, but she's got a bus pass in there somewhere and she's not afraid to use it. In the end the addition of the staff, ogham scraps of parchement (which do actually say something) and a spot of fancy basing really helped jazz up a very old model. She's given me an idea how all the other old school fimir will look, and I'm very excited to get started on nobles, fianna fimm and the dirach. The question now is, do I do the fianna fimm next, or the half-dead?
Half dead, obviously. With the work You've made I'm sure You'll put a new life into those minis. Splendid plog here man, You get a high five from me !![]()
Finecast is like a watch from Armani - very expensive and waterproof.

Cheers dude, I likes yer thinking.
You have worked some wonders with that 80's model for sure, I'd like to see what you can do with the others from the range!
But that mop of hair always makes me giggle, it looks a little daft!

Fimir with hair just look weird.
Here's the tester for the half-dead, needs more work, but you get the idea!

He looks great. What do the half-dead stand in your army for - Marauders?
Nice combination of Mantic and GW parts! Is it me or do the feet look a tad small?

Look fine to me, he is standing up on is toes, maybe that looks weird? He needs more work though...
The half-dead are stand-ins for chosen, they're a kind of demented undead berserker.
Cool! Have you thought about including a unit of Forsaken? Maybe the mutated, horrific offspring of human and Fimir union?
Crazily enough, the product of a fimir/human union is a fimir.
I haven't thought about forsaken, so many options in the chaos list, it'll keep me busy for years...

Wow, the half dead are fantastic! Really liking the concept.

Looking good so far, can we get a closer shot of the Fimir slave driver?

excellent half dead. The Gw and mantic plastics blend extremely well!
Will do, once he's properly assembled I'll pop up a shot.Looking good so far, can we get a closer shot of the Fimir slave driver?
So! The monumental castle project I've been doing is done, and with barely a moment to switch paint for modelling tools I barrelled right into the half-dead unit I've been eyeing forlornly for the last few weeks. Here is the test model, assembled and with a re-built shoulder and other small green stuff clean-ups. I'll be painting him up as soon as the green stuff cures.
The biggest problem with him was removing the integral base that Mantic models come with. I had a notion to try a soldering iron to melt it off. Boy, did that work well. A couple of seconds and the base was evaporated by the solder iron leaving only his feet. Now, there's a couple of things with this. The iron is super hot and produces fumes from the melting plastic, and if you touch it, the burn is super nasty. I also used it to add more holes to his flesh, for which it works perfectly. I can see this being used to zombify models by melting flesh, hollowing out eyes and adding ragged holes and stringy flesh. The iron is now firmly in my hobby tool set.
The half dead are a wonderful concept, and the slaver looks ace![]()
