Thread: Raven's trendy blog of things.

  1. #1

    Raven's trendy blog of things.

I've never kept a running "diary" of things I've painted, and a lot of the items I've sold on are lost forever. Which I suppose is a sad thing, if I were feeling nostalgic.

Anyway. I have decided to join all you young uns and form a blog of things I'm painting. (I'm 25, in case someone wondered... I just dont get the idea of general purpose blogging )

The first few updates will be me sorting through some photos and putting up a handful of items of interest, some mix of historicals (flames of war) fantasy, warmachine and 40k, at a guess.

I flit about a lot with painting, I'll finish 1000 points, then get fed up of a colour scheme, and work on another army instead. This means the index will be a bit of a chore. I'll try to keep it in some kind of order as I move back and forth...

    Index

    1. Older fantasy stuff
    2. Older Flames of War stuff
    3. Older 40k stuff
    4. Older Khador stuff
    5. Start of Black Templars
    6. Cygnar

Ok. Heres the first of my images which gets some comments added. Huzzah. Just a group shot. As you can see, I'm cracking on with the scouts (5 finished, 5 more with some detailing to do) and I have a chaplain mostly finished, and 5 of my lovely templars mostly done.

Not pictured, due to room, is the second of my venerable dreads, and a landraider.

and here is the chaplain, who is a WiP. Feel free to ask questions, give critique, etc. I'm new to the blogging my models process, so y'know, communication seems good I guess?

Updated with some new photos in my "old stuff" sections. Please do look, and comment. It would be nice to know I'm not just putting these up to gather dust

Painted 30 of the BT troops. Boxed them for now, as the black and white hurts my eyes. (I'm being serious, migrane city...)

Currently tidying up other old boxed projects (eldar right now) and painting Cryx (warmachine) at work while doing dwarves at home.

Here is a photo of dwarves.

    Photo of cryx will follow...

Why the hell does this plog have a 1 star rating!? You've got some really great stuff in here! I really like the night goblin arachnorork, and some of your painting is stunning! We'll have to sort out this rating...

Agreed, your painting certainly deserves more than this, my vote just kicked it up to a more reasonable 4 stars. Good looking models, keep em coming

The painting is very good for tabletop quality, just a couple of things

The gold could use a highlight or two to make it 'pop'. Try gold+mithril silver for this.

The red looks good on that warcaster (Vladimir or whatever it was?), why don't the rest of your Khador miniatures have that same treatment?

And, well, paint more for us

    Cheers,

I suppose its because thats his official colour scheme. I didn't really try and change anything from default with my khador. Looking back, I regret it slightly. Maybe I'll strip and repaint some of it sometime.

In terms of blog, thanks for giving it some votes. I really need to update it more frequently. Theres a big whack of Menoth models, to add soon, and most of a cryx an cygnar army to photograph and upload. (I've been painting up one of every army...)

For anyone who's paying attention, is it more interesting to see WIP models, or do you only really look at finished ones? I'm in the habbit of just blitzing through things and photographing them at the end. Im wondering if I should force myself to pause and get some WIP shots.

So! Here is the cygnar I painted a month or two back, but never got photos for. I'm still having the problem I had back then, of the blue messing with the camera, but I've fixed it mostly.

Also, I'm not sure I like my blue "front arcs". I might repaint them black again, and use white dots as dividers.... Hmm. Decisions.
