    Tzarinchilla's random painty/modelly type stuff

My mind is a general cluter so I have decided that rather than focus on a single force as my brain shuts down when I do, I am just going to paint what I feel like painting at the time. This means that I may actually get more painted.

With this in mind, I also realise that encouragment is nice. This is why I am creating a single thread dedicated to whatever model I am working on at the current time.

Some models may take months to finish, some may never get finished, but if I do get some finished then I will have achieved what I have set out to do.

So rambling on aside, here are some pictures of what I am working on:

First off, some custom 40K bases I am working on for my Grey Knights

    My Forgeworld Avatar WIP

    My Truscale Space Wolves

Lastly because i'm pleased I have actually finished something this year and we are only half way through May

    First comment!

Totally dig the bases! When they are occupied, it's going to look sweet!
And is that your only Goblin, or does he have friends? I would give the mushroom a quick ink wash but other than that he looks totally cool!

@Daniel36 Cheers for the comment The goblin is the first of many. At the moment I am finding painting goblins very relaxing so have several on the way so I wouldn't be surprised if a small regiment of them appears.

As for the bases, I have some more pics of them with various Grey Knights on them:

Also just so you can see how random this is:

hehe great minds think alike. I was just sat pondering at the weekend about starting myself a random blog on here, as I seem to keep flitting form one thing to the other.

Loving the bases, they look real nice. Looking forwards to seeing some of the GK painted.

@Sinzaren: Cheers pal, can't wait to see some new stuff from you!

@juicytomatoes: Thanks I didn't plan an army of Goblins initially, but i'm a signed up 23 year veteran of miniature purchasers anonymous!

Well I have more miniatures in progress. This time its more goblins seeing as how im now addicted to them and I also have a model to start for my girlfriend.

These are my rather amusing front rank for my night goblins. They all have so much character and I look very much forward to having these painted up.

Goblin King. He's a big bugger and in the game I may have him use the stats of an Orc warboss because he is so huge!

Some of the Goblins (and a few orc's) I have ready to be sprayed/painted. I also have 2 complete Skull Pass's to sort up as well.

My first spider rider in progress. Gonna be painted to a gaming standard with a tiny bit of flair.

And finally I am painting this little cute miniature for my girlfriend as she loves fairies.

Stay tuned for more random updates and hopefully some more completed models.

The nemesis dreadknight is great. I love the fresh pose and the great looking base you created for him. All the others bases look great to!

The true-scale space wolf look good to. Do you have any more miniature completed? Assault marine? I asked myself how you made them...

The picture of the avatar doesn't make him justice i think. I'll be happy to see him getting more paint!

And I love you goblins. Seeing those little dude getting painted is always fun! I'll check often to see more painting. good luck painting that fairy, looks like a nice model. Who does that?

Re: Tzarinchilla's random painty/modelly type stuff

First off, apologies for the poor quality photos. The lighting in my living room is terrible and I should really sort myself up a light box.

I hae been doing more goblins recently. I have decided to do a stage by stage of them to show how slapdash and quick my painting should be. I am in general very messy when it comes to painting and the following photos will show this, however they should hopefully also show you how I manage to make them look less slapdash in the end.

The following is abou 2/3rds of the work I need to do to them. The light at home is terrible now so will finish them off when the light is better.

    Basic slapped on colours.

Badab black wash applied to tie the colours in wih some depth.

Further highlights applied to start to bring out more of the features.

This is as far as I have gone now, but I will post the last 2 steps later in the week when I have had a chance to finish them off and I will also set up a proper photo lighting solution as well.

Finally, I made a minor change to te completed goblin. I have put some blue unit markings on him:

Very basic but hopefully will tie the unit together better. As you can also see the under clothes are also in that blue colour as well. I plan to do other units with other colours such as red, green and yellow.

Questions, advice, comments and critiques most happily accepted and requested as usual.

Great, the miniature have a great improvement in only 1/3 of the work. Those little gob' are looking great and I love the blue marking on the bsb. Should make that pattern on some other gob to!

And even thought you lighting is not optimal, your pictures are not that bad. a lightbox would do the trick, but a plog is not a painting tournament :P

Do you plan to make some fanatics? metal on or plastic one? And how do you make those little fungus on the bsb base? Are they include into the plastic kit?

Great work overall, can't wait to see more painting!

Re: Tzarinchilla's random painty/modelly type stuff

@babyberg31 Thanks, appreciate the kind words. I'm gonna do about half the unit with those markings I think. So that they still look dark like Night Goblins should, but they will also have a bit of colour to them.

I have some plastic fanatics somewhere, just need to find them lol. The mushroom on the base was actually the tip of a spear, but there is some on the plastic fanatics sprues that are very cool and I plan to use them in the future.

Looking really nice there mate, I've always had a soft spot for the gobbo's myself, but then again who doesn't :P

One quick thing, if you're using the blue dags etc to tie things together would it not be an idea to have some blue on the banner?

@Sinzaren: Cheers pal. The plan is for all the banners to have red in them to tie the army together. Thats going to be the theme to draw the varierties of orcs and goblins into a semi cohesive looking army.

Turns out I had another run of highlights in me today for the gobbos:

Re: Tzarinchilla's random painty/modelly type stuff

OK so ive been on holiday for just over a week and didnt paint a single thing. However, I once more have the paintbrush in hand and am tackling a few more of my thousands and thousands of unpainted models.

Firstly heres 7 *COMPLETED* night goblins. (goes to update signature)

You may notice if you have a keen eye, that I have actually put paint to fairy for my girlfriends model as well

Secondly, I have also decided to have a go at painting a beast of a forgeworld model other than the Avatar:

At this point I am re-applying a coat of red after washing the recesses with Devlan Mud which has come out surprisingly well as a shade for red.

Loving the Gobbo's, they're coming on great. So thats seven down and how many to go

The brown inks do tend to work well with reds. I used Gryphone Sepia loads whilst working on my World Eaters, and on the Corsair cloaks.

    Keep it going

I love the goblins boss with the massive moon-clever! The shield nearly look as nasty as him!

And I really like the spider to. I fell that those miniature really paint themselves when you start them. The designs are simple, yet effective.

And it's a good start one the eldar super heavy. I'm wondering if the spot we see one the red is ink? Apart that, the thing is great looking, and the seat look comfortable :P

Can't wait to see more painting!
