    Very nice looking army.
As for the fire dragon I can suggest 2 things: either blend the highlights on the armour plates like you did on the rangers' cloack or high ediging

I'd shade the red a little darker to give a sharper contrast.

    Re: Reaver's Eldar

ok boys and girls, almost finished the squad, but in the mean time, after numerous requests I thought I do a quick 'how to paint wraithbone reaver's style'

fist step the undercoat - I chose black...

then 2 thin layers of deneb stone - you need a milk consistency to get coverage and not obscurity

Next add some gryphonne sepia to the recess's don't worry about being too neat

then add a little white to the deneb stone. perhaps 2 : 1 stone : white

and then pump it up to 1:1

if i feel extreme i go 1:2, also use the sepia to tidy up any mess in the recess's.

Hopefully the finished squad will be up in a day or two

so some of you may have seen my 1.5K tournament list but thought - 'hey Reaver you only have one falcon!'

Wrong! New shiny Falcon Mk2's in under a week - turns out painting solidly every evening pays off... -

if only eldrad hadn't had an accident

    Re: Reaver's Eldar

Ok it seems with my girl friend away i may have more painting time...

Started on the really gorgeous looking shadow specters!

trying to get the colours in the right place for them, originally the end of the gun was also bone, but it then overpowered the black, so repainted it, but would appreciate some feedback - obviously no highlights etc yet

Nice blog here Reaver83. An updated army shot would be cool.

On the C&C front I think your white needs a little more definition, and you could paint up the gems in some places to add more pop e.g. on the fire dragons armour.

Nice to actually see someone paint up the spectres, very tidy.

    Re: Reaver's Eldar

Thanks for the comments, the bone is/has been a debate of mine it works brilliantly I find over largish areas but in small bits can loose detail.

There should hopefully be some kind if group shot of some of my stuff coming up in a couple of weeks when they hit a tournament so I'll get some group shots then. As for a whole army shot - that requires free time lacking right now lol.

Oh and hopefully the next model I'm working will satisfy your gem craving...

    Re: Reaver's Eldar

Finally got round to reading your blog and am pretty impressed. A nice splattering of traditional units beefed with wome FW goodness. And everyone knows I like a bit of FW goodness in an Eldar army

Loving your scenic Scibor bases. Really makes for good models. Makes them a sqeeze into a figure tray but they look good!

the colour scheme is pretty interestuing with the red and purple. I'd usually only go with a single "splash colour" over the muted bone/white/black seen, but it does make for some striking looking models.

Overall, the army looks very coherent and consistant which far outweighs the individual paint jobs (as said the purple and red could do with some depth and highlight earlier by others which will bring the individual quality up a notch but the latter pics so much more improvement like the Spectres).

Top work, look forward to an entuire army pic sometime soon

    Re: Reaver's Eldar

I like your painting: it's smooth and crisp. my only criticism is that your colors look a little flat to my eyes and could use more extreme shades and highlights.

    Re: Reaver's Eldar

Thanks for the feedback, it's interesting both you two talked about the highlighting, when I started painting I basically would use the 'next pot along' for highlights, which I actually found quite garish, perhaps I've gone almost too far the other way with subtle highlights? As for both the red, purple, and bone I normally have between 3-4 shades if colour minimum- maybe it needs a little extra range in that?

Now as for why I have 2 splash colours that's a little easier, when starting u knew u needed something to clash with the stone on the bases and I found purple worked well, so carried a little of it onto small details on the miniatures, it seems though that as I've gone on and got more comfortable with the purple it's appeared more and more! But for keeping aspects etc better tied into the army

    Also dragonforge bases!

    Re: Reaver's Eldar

OK the final piece for the tournament, now I've previously not been a fan of this model - not sure why but never been one i've liked. But found a slightly damaged one going cheap, and picked it up, so after some paint removal (not perfect) I started on it.

Pretty pleased with it in the end, especially the cloak for me. Hopefully he'll lead my forces now instead of the proxy who I've used up till now

    WIP

    and finished
