How many projects do you run simultaneously?

Well, I'm overwhelmed by my personal pipeline of projects... I have the ongoing Desciples of Caliban, Fantasy Orks (started a year and a half before the new book came out), remnants of my Fantasy Dark Elf army that is almost complete (if such a thing exists - it doesnt really), the Blood Angel Terminators from Space Hulk (yes -hadn't touched them until recently) and fighting a losing battle to restain myself from the new Dark Eldar... Forgot to mention the IG project that is kind of dormant right now.

Given the work load from my job, I can only afford very little time on each an progress is very slow... So I was wondering how many projects to you people run at the same time?

Just to clear the point: This is not about how many armies you have but how many projects are you currently actively involved in.

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

    Trying to learn Japanese.
Trying to learn Finnish (coming along faster than the Japanese).
Trying to build & paint a small handful of Ultramarines....literally 2 rhinos, 2 speeders, 1 attack bike, devi squad & 5 tact....get more and continue....
Trying to narrow down ALL my photographs for a smaller portfolio that says all it needs to.
Trying to hit 15th prestige on CoD: Black Ops....almost there....
Trying to sit down in front of the piano daily (after a 10-15yr break).
Emptying the garage (just kill me now...please) of junk.
Trying to just sit down and read a book, but audiobooks win considering what else I'm doing.
Starting to trail off here but I know there's more....oh yeah, this one started yesterday, fix my laptop.

I need to just cut out the audiobooks, grab an eng-fin audiobook and use it while doing whatever else. Already got the eng-jap one....but that's going to take long time....
The Finnish, the pictures, the laptop and the marines are the top 4.....laptop is top of the list, pictures are 2nd, and joint 3rd place are learning finnish and painting these lil dudes as it seems that'll happen during the same space of time.

If I don't hurry up and get on top of it, I won't have done any until half way through autumn once the wedding season ends...

Oh, that and procrastination, but that's a never ending project.

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

    1) Complete building my 3000 pts of Ultramarines and actually paint them so everyone apart from ME knows they are Ultramarines! (I am 2k built now)

    2) Collect a few more squads to have a small 1000pt Emperors Children force, and paint it (lots to do here, assembled just the Prince and 2 Marines to date)

    3) 1000 point Empire Warmaster army is on my desk being painted

    4) To be followed by a 1000 point Orcs & Goblins Warmaster army that needs painting

    5) 1500pts of Orcs & Goblins, Warhammer, needs to be painted, and on top of that about 1000pts needs to be assembled and then later painted

    6) Just started building my Warhammer Empire army that's been on sprue and in storage for best part of 1.5yrs! LONG way to go!

    7) A few months back I finally started assembling a few Skaven models from my 2000pt army of sprue!

    8) GOT TO paint my War of the Rings Dwarf army -just 2500pts to go!

    9) Get around to painting the rest of my Warhammer Orcs & Goblins - just 8000pts worth!

    10) Have to build and spray paint 30 more Guardians to complete my Eldar Guardian army

So I got to the point were NOTHING was getting done! So I put nearly all the above away in boxes and will focus on:

    1) Warmaster Empire = paint them up (Top priority project)

    2) Build Orcs & Goblins figures in between painting Warmaster to give myself a break

Once the 1st project is done I'll switch it up to 40k - REALLY want to finish those Ultras - just clean, assemble, prime, then spray paint the models for now - not worried about full on painting - if they are all just sprayed blue it will be enough for now!

Those are the quickest projects to complete which will hopefully motivate me to complete some more! I tried the 'build something here, paint something there, collect something else' approach and all it does is empty my wallet and leave me with boxes and piles of sprues to make me sad!

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

I have 4 miniature projects running simultaneously now. SM ( UM like painting but a bit darker), Sisters of Battle and Grey Knights (both metallic with blue elements) and IG ( Desert camo).

None of my current armies are finished because when I'm tired of one scheme, I move to another. So one day it's SM chapter tactical SM then GK psycannon then IG private.

I once tried to paint more than 10 necrons of various sort ( warriors, destroyers both normal and heavy) to have one whole project finished early. At the end I was more tired than happy. Variety is the key to success when it comes to painting.

    Models to finish:

Base 70 odd WoC models. Paint 12 warriors.

    Paint 100 night goblins.

Paint 20 Plaguebearers (Buy 4 more, as I only have 16 spare...)

    Paint 25 wood elves.

Paint 10 screamers of tzeentch, 5 flamers, 10 horrors, and changeling.

    Paint 20 Black templar.

Paint 30 Eldar guardians / wraithguard.

    Paint 9 Khador models.

    Paint 12 Cygnar models.

Thats my current flipflopping list of stuff to finish off. I keep promicing myself I won't buy more models till the old ones are done, but frankly, I just love collecting too much. And now DE are getting grotesques and wracks, I'll be adding 40 more models to the collection. Sigh.

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

If I do not take into account the armies I have lying around waiting to be assembled and painted, ie Dark Elves, High Elves, Goblins, Bretonnia, Dwarfs and Empire (really? all this is Famtasy. And with good reason.)
I am working on an Eldar army, 2 squad Space Marines demo-army, Imperial Guard (waiting to start assembling) and WotR-Elves.
Currently I'm working on the Space Marines, because I was painting some Eldar vehicles, but wanted a short break. I'm only painting part of the Marines before returning to Eldar.

For me it's more variety than simultaneous, as it can become boring to paint 50+ of the same/similar models one after the other. Also, with vehicles, it can become a dragg painting them at a high(ish) standard. But that's just me.
Results in the past are no guarantee for the future.
I’m only stating my opinion, it’s not fact.

As far as GW is concerned, I'm good at keeping myself on track with one project at a time, I finish each army before moving on to the next. There's usually a bit of terrain mixed in there for good measure though.
Though my guards may sleep and ships may lie at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

I switched to a system of actually working on 2 projects; one main, one side. Side projects usually tend to be small scale, though there are exceptions (like my Dark Elves, which was a 100+ model side project). Main projects tend to be new armies, but have included catching up on some armies (like IG, which I was about 170 models behind in painting). But never more than 2 projects at a time; everything else is put on hold, until I finish a (side) project.

Currently, my main project is a fantasy Empire army, while my side project is finishing the odd 30 Tau I had unpainted. After the Tau are finished, I will probably pick up my fantasy terrain as new side project, or my wood elves.

I must admit, this system has gone a long way in getting color to my grey masses. I now actually have the hope of getting to the point were all my armies will be painted.

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

just the one for me - my Eldar.

Had them about 3 years now... most of them are still on the sprus, and the ones that are assembled are just about playable with 3 VERY basic base-coat colours.

i really should make more of an effort!

I'm halfway through painting three converted demolishers. I've got more guardsmen to follow, and some marines. And some Orks. Oh yes, some scenery too. I might be able to fit a wedding in somewhere, probably around August. Luckily I've sidestepped organising that little project...

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

Right now, I've got both Grey Knights and Skaven I'm working on. And I'll probably be starting a Dark Eldar project for Armies on Parade when the Battleforce comes out...

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

Finalising the painting of several armies for 40k (models I already have, and unpainted, so so far unused).
Planning the renovation of my house (kitchen, bathroom and laundry - 3 rooms).
Planning 5th anniversary (wedding) holidays so that we can be out of the way while builders do the work without our being-in-the-way (and with those rooms out of service, we can't live in the house anyway).
Sent from my Nokia Lumia800 using my microwave as a proxy server.

That is not dead which can eternal lie
And yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I am the guy who thought the LoTR movies were crap and liked Judge Dredd.

Finishing Salamanders - LRR, 2x terminator squads, dev squad, tac squad, assault squad, 2x attack bikes, repair/fix land speeder. Probably need to convert a VVet/Command Squad at some point.

Pimped BA Jumpy - only starting it. ( i prefer assembly to painting!)

Necrons - need to touch up/ repair, wait for new immortals.

SLOT FREE - Dark eldar or SoB... not sure though!! Help!

    Back Burner - Khorne WoC

Back Back Burner Wood Elves (only a general, 3 hawks and 2 characters to
    paint)

Back Back Back Back Burner - 6000pts of lizardmen from when I started

    Usually two.

For a while it was Marines and Eldar, than it became Warmachine's Cygnar and Eldar, recently I was thinking about adding a second Warmachine Faction, now I'm back on Cygnar and Eldar.
Currently really psyched about: My Cygnar army

@:Archangel Ruined: You realise you do NOT have to do anything for the wedding apart from showing up - you know that right? I forsee even less time for you to spent in the hobby (says the man who's married for 9 years now... and has 6 year old girl).

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

That's pretty much what I'm aiming for. I have to wear something though, and I've already been told it can't be a Villa shirt. I also forgot to mention I'm training for a couple of marathons as well, so hobby time is rare already. I suppose now the rugby season has finished I'll get some more weekend time.

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

GW wise, I've got Space Wolves, Daemons and Traitor Guard on the go (Wolves are on the backburner though - close to a decades worth of models for them.)

Other than that, I've got a few other things going to such as Uni work, working for the Union doing their Tech/Sound and Light stuff and being part of a couple of committee's (unsurprisingly the Wargaming one!)

Then there's the social life. And watching Doctor Who to an obsessive/compulsive level.

Re: How many projects do you run simultaneously?

    my projects?

    1. my iron warriors: a terminator squad, a couple of transports, a couple of predators, a vindi or two, some cultists, traitor guard and a mean assault squad...

    2. my raven guard: a captain, finish two tactical squads and a combat squad, make some transports for them, and two dreadnoughts.

    3. my ultramarines: finish a captain, chaplain and librarian, finish some tactical squads with transports, finish an assault squad, make an attack bike squadron and finish a techmarine.

    4. my deff skul orkzes: finish a warboss, some nobs, some shoota boyz and some grots, get some more killa kanz, and build some zoggin transports.

not to mention my "masterclass" project i'm trying to kickstart, which involves me putting all of my painting skills into a single model, the fact that i'm trying to learn how to play the bass( \m/ ), and that i'm thinking about painting another guy's models, since he never finds the time.
