    Smile Tommygun Ironworks

I'm going to start a Terrain log here.
I have been working on a few ideas and this is what I have so far.
My terrain is aimed at multiple game systems so it will work with 40k or smaller skirmish games.
I'll keep my paper terrain log separate.

Here is a quick little project for a bus stop.
The curved area will get covered with a corrugated like material on top and the inside.
It will be painted in a Testors Metalizer stainless steel.

Here are some of the tools you will need:

Two done in one evening. Fairly simple build.
I'll try and throw together a very basic drawing with measurements for anyone interested in making these guys.

By the way that inner plasticard is 0.5mm thick and was used to hold it together when wrapping the thicker plasticard over the curved frame.

    Light Pole time.
I added the washer for weight.
A list of materials is on the third picture.
It's actually fairly bright and looks realistically bright for the scale.
It's brighter in person than the picture.

The non-blinking lights are available here:

    Public Information terminal.

I'm basing this structure on an image I found on the web, but it's not meant to be an exact copy.

I thought I was finished with this one, but when I put on the roof today I had trouble seeing all the monitors.
So now I'm thinking of making a high tech glass roof for it.
I have a few ideas and will need to play around with them to see which one wins out.
I'm also adding one of my LED lights to the inside to back light the monitors.

    Re: Tommygun Ironworks

This is the first set. There will be a second and possibly a longer third set.
    All five units nest in the 4 x 6 (101mm x 153mm) inch building.
The smallest is 2 x 2 In. (50mm x50mm). I tried to make the door openings in such a way as you can arrange the units in multiples ways.
Some combinations may not be possible, but this give options.
Most of the doorways are 2 in./50mm with a few at 1.25 in. /32mm.
All the doors will have windows built into them.
There will also be a few adapters so the smaller doors can match up with the larger door openings.
I need to work on the roofs more as they don't fit snugly.
I may need to add a few magnets to help with this.

    Re: Tommygun Ironworks

    Settled on a Door design.
Something simple and not to hard to build a lot of them.

    All five buildings in one.

    Adding details to the interiors.

So I put the Stainless Steel Metalizer on the outside.
Once it is buffed out, it's a nice shinny dark silver gray and metallic in color.
I'll work on the interiors and doors next.

    Door Construction:

These photos focus on the rear half the door, but the front is made the same way.
Note: The rear half is larger than the front half.

    First batch of doors done.
Most will be simple clean white doors.
I did make a few rougher looking nuke and bio hazard doors.

I forgot to add the yellow and black warning strips at the bottom of the doors.
I'll do those latter. I also need to find some decals I like to go on the glass.

Interior about 90% done on his unit.
The other units wont get as much detail though. Their too small.
I'm having problems with the doors lying flat do to the fact that each door is a little different.
I'll need to add a small tab at the bottom side of each door.

    Re: Tommygun Ironworks

    OK guys, I'm almost done.
    Things left to do:
    -Add magnets to doorways.
    -Small miscellaneous touch ups.
-Need to make the door adapters so the small buildings can attach to the larger buildings.
-Build two more roofs, need to order more materials for it first.

I think that's it? I did add the little round post at the bottom of the doors to keep them in place.
I do need to make little caps for them.

    Re: Tommygun Ironworks

    Start of four new buildings.
I have all the parts for four all scored.
These are two unit studio apartments.
All the same style, one room, bathroom and kitchenette.
They'll have rounded corners and possibly double swing out doors.
These four building will fit inside two medium buildings and the two medium buildings will fit inside one large building for storage.
The medium and large buildings will have different styling and also have removable and repositionable internal walls.
All the structures will be Art Deco and single stories.

This will be the medium building

    Re: Tommygun Ironworks

So here is were I'm at.
The first one is done, but I may add some details to the outside.
The other three are about 33% done. They will be painted white with blue and white doors.
As you can see, I went with double swing out doors.
Hopefully I'll have something to show with the other three in the next few days.
Right now they are a bunch of precut pieces that are not glued together yet.
I do my builds in an assemble line fashion with the first one done a few steps ahead of the others to find mistakes.
