    Eldar and other xenos stuff.

So I get sidetracked a lot, especially lately with all those nice new models coming out. So this will be a joint thread for all my future miscellaneous projects involving xenos. If I ever start an actual army of any kind they will get their own thread, but for now I'll start here.

First of is an avatar model I've been working on, it's a salvaged mini and is quite old and from before the white metal days so the conversion work went real smooth since it's so soft (compared to white metal that is) and the topknot was ditched. It's supposed to be a Biel-tan avatar, and I still need to do some freehand on the loin cloth, and some blood on the hand (yeah, cliché I know, but I think it's so awesome ) and maybe some subtle highlights on the gold.
The bone colour is done with an airbrush, and the sword is too. The rest is ordinary brush work.

So what do you guys think ?? Is this okay or should I stick to titans ??

Fantastic base, truly. Alas, I am not a fan of the avatar model, I find the pose a bit awkward and un-dynamic, and the face a bit too cartoony. Somehow the original small one was a bit more dignified, if that makes sense? The paintjob is great though, especially the head-crests.

Yeah I totally agree, I'm not a big fan of the models pose but it's got some sort of charm to it and nostalgia which is mainly why I went with the whole blood idea, and will give him the bloody hand . And it really is great fun to paint
If I was to make an army I'd definitely spend the extra cash and get the FW one with the spear as it totally rocks!
I'm glad you like the crest (which is airbrushed btw) and the base, they got a less positive feedback on powerfist, but I mostly post there as it's nice to take part in the DK scene a bit as I don't normally like the attitude on the forum (some of the guys are really unfriendly towards newcomers and people that dislikes the restriction system- which you've probably heard of) although the less friendly attitude is not really seen in the painting threads luckily.

Everyone else, thanks for your nice replies

    5 stars from me.

I really like how you've painted the metallics on the Avatar. I'm looking forward to your wraithlord.

    All the best,

Thanks a lot mate Glad you like the metallics, it's painted with Vallejo green gold from their liquid gold series. Absolutely fantastic stuff, and highly recommendable for every painter out there.

Re: Eldar and other xenos stuff.

So my wraithlord is taking shape, although there's still some work left to do.
It's all magnetized so the sword and all the guns can be swapped around but I'll show you that when the guns are painted

Stuff left to do is: all the guns, touch-ups on the highlights on hands and forearms, loose hand gems, all the gems on the back rack thingie, gems, some more gems and well... even more gems. And finally lacquering of the model to give it the right shine.

    So watcha think ??

i seethe with jealousy in regard to that wraithsword. however, i will laugh derisively at the way you have neglected to gloss varnish the fin at the top of the wraithlord's head.

    well done, good sir.

Hehe the reason for my neglect is that the gloss varnish has been applied to help the transfer film blend in with the model it has a second coat to seal the transfer as well. I have not yet decided if the head should have a gloss finish, so input please
And thanks for the nice comment

How did you get the Wraithlord base to look like that? I know that's the base it comes on texture-wise but that sort of colour and effect is what I want my whole army based on. I just haven't be able to get the colours to look like a proper stone floor.
