@npf; its a design thing. some of my ork tanks are ment to look like they've had the crap kicked into them, others are ment to be fresh additions, put together in haste to serve the war.

update; got the first results of the casting. sadly i didn't have a way to injection mold so i just used half of the mold to work out how it would look. result; carries all the detail! now for some terrible photo's of the cast-off. i tried white spray paint then washed with dirty paint water to catch detail; sadly like a solid gold gak head i forgot about release agents not liking spray paint. Here it is next to the original;

Ok, so alot of you have heard me talk about the 'scrap tank' for about a week or two now. well, i can now release the finalised design. This is what it looks like, this is the original model as all molds are now completed, cured, and will from tomorrow be undergoing the first trial run of castings. Once i get the casting process down, and find a better quality of resin i can sell these off. Anyone interested in owning one of these (with future accesories/turret and weapon options in the planning proccess) it will cost in the region of £10

So here are some highlights of the match i had tonight... 1500pts per side, an annihilation match

Deployment;



With turn one being to my side i lost no time in thinning out the genestealers... though due to my low BS i had alot of issues despite the sheer volume of firepower;

The tyranids on the other hand began to move... with only a light amount of shooting on their side the hivemind scored little against the Ork horde...



Turn two; already the genestealers had taken two of the grot tanks, but the ork boys were not afraid. piling out they charged into the genestealers, loosing three of their own but inflicting the same injuries back! Victory was short lived in this corner, with the entire tyranid infantry horde sweeping in and buring them in a sea of carapace.

On the other side however things were not so grim. the combined efforts of the tanks had scored a few wounds on the synapse units, but gargoyles moved in to the shooting boys, and so began a bloody and vicious combat.

It's worth mentioned that at this stage a group of ravenors deep striked... only for the hive mind to fire them off the table. a cruel twist of fate;



Turn three; things were now putting the gitzkrieg on the backfoot. with the bigmek, thus far scoring serious hurting against the hivemind (his cannon had not only fired but on both occasions wound or killed a warrior) recieving the infantry who had taken out the ladz in the previous round now faced with the same sea of carpace he knew his time was up for gork and mork had seen fit to end his reign.

The tyranids, now putting down serious hurt, obliterated the tanks that stood in thier way, thus far clocking up three got tanks a squad of boyz and their trukk on the left flank, and putting the other boyz squad into serious trouble on the right as showing off its teeth. One again with a might boom the ork lines opened fired.. only to miss with the vast majority of their weapons. The carnifex took his wound, another unit of tyranids felt the sting of the guns but still they would not be stemmed.



Turn 4; with this being the final turn (3hrs in and alot of shooting and dice throwing... thus reaching the end of the clubs time its open) things look grim. 3 kill points per side, units either stranded or too far from combat to be effective, and with the grot tanks playing merry havoc with the carnifex (6+ to hit... only for a 5+ inv save to stop any damage done) it came down to two things; who could kill the most?

The ork lines opened fire killing the last of one warrior unit leaving only one synapse creature standing. In combat, the tanks, built by the cursed mek, shrugged off even the hardiest of rending claws, suffering two stunned results.

In the end the 4th kill point went the the tyranids, who after 3 turns of combat, finally killed the ork nob who had stood his ground against gargoyles, lost his armour save.

Match total;
Gitzkrieg; 3 kill points
Tyranids; 4 kill points.

Footnote; i miss 4th edition... when points of units left mattered. i had 900pts worth of tanks still left. shame, but an amazingly fun match!

Sweet batrep mate! Shame you didn't win but I like it when people have clearly enjoyed a game and share their exploits regardless. I have games like this against Halaker's 'nids all the time... Just gotta paint those deathwing- I hear gaunts don't like assault cannons.

Ok wow alot more comments here than i expected!

So; thanks for the kind words guys! i've been refitting my workshop for a few days to try and expand some of the space i have. since most of my tools live in the shed, i've got enough room to spread some of these guys out now.

So; with 3 days to go here is how my 750pt army stands.... as you can see, 21 models left to paint.

thanks dude! yeah, you weren't the only one. Once i get my spraygun from the parcel group holding it, expect some seriously cool stuff coming from them!

anyways, the last squad is now about 20% done... expect the final update tomorrow before i set off for Waaaaagh! day.

on a side note however, i've become involved in an apocalypse battle in early december. As such, i am going to restart one of my old projects to join into this log.

Da Mekz Dream;Stompaz and a Gargant....

So currently planned;
- Rebuilding one of my stompas so it becomes a gigashoota maniac.
- Building a Klaw Stompa
- depending on the time scale maybe a third stompa
- The Gargant.

I was just looking through warseer to find some inspiration for an ork army I'm thinking of planing. Weridly, i was think a whole load of vehicles with dark red paint jobs with yellow flames up them, and came across your log.

Gotta be worth a comment ;-)

You may have mentioned it on the log somewhere, but what is the spray paint red you're using on 'em?

Of all the things I saw, the bottle of Sailor Jerry on your bookshelf made me smile the biggest
Yeah I'm not the first person to notice it, but I can't not acknowledge a fellow lover of a damn good rum.
The Glitzkrieg is phenomenal. I have to say, I don't play orks but I still want one of those scrap tanks. Might have to inquire down the road

@gonders; thanks for the kind words dude! glad you like them! its red car primer, about £4 a can and i usually get 4-6 tanks +20 infantry a bottle so cost effective in an extreme.

@atman; thanks dude! and yeah sailor jerrys is a lovely rum... shame they changed the formula, the old type was just an absolute mind blowing drink.

Update!

me and alex (blood angels log of awesomeness) have had a weekend of warhammer, between us we won our tournie games. two wins, two tabled wins, but the final...

For the first two rounds we were absolutly hammering them, with the board limiting our movement we stopped deep striking daemons from landing anywhere within 12" without landing in fatal terrain. Saddly the game was at 9:30pm... so we got to round three and the orgernisers decided to call it the last round. unfortunatly for us me and alex were playing the long run game so were complete screwed by this. the other team said as much, they won through sheer chanc with that being the final turn because in a 5-6 turn game we would have pinned and blasted the tau and daemons into another world.

Overall, a fun fun game! and its re-ignited my passion for the hobby. Me and alex may even go on doubles tournies in the uk in the near future too!

In the meantime, some of my chaos dwarves are here, and my spraygun comes on monday. i'm also now in a position to field my army without issues, and similar can start work on the titans.

Brilliant weekend though, i'll find some of the photo's later.

Looking grand. Any chance of some closer shots? I was thinking some views taken with the we're-outnumbered-runaway cam might be nice to look at. Glad to learn you are moving onto Stompas and a Gargant. Those are in the pipeline for me also so I shall be watching with interest
