    Random Sinz

So I'm going to start another blog and hopefully get it updated more than my past attempts.

I've decided to start it in the random section because even though I'm going to be mostly working on my Dark Elves, I will probably be adding other things I feel like painting as well, be it 40k, Fantasy or just random crap I have laying about. My painting is for gaming so don't expect anything amazing, and the blog is really an attempt for me to keep track of what I've gotten done. I may also have a random rant about anything cool I've found or done. There will be some pretty old stuff going up here as well as I re-base and touch up battle damage, so keep an eye out for them.

Now I'm going to leave this first post clear of pictures and add a list of things and pages below of whats on here, fingers crossed it will make it easier to find what you or I am looking for.

First up is a picture of my Witch Elves

It's a unit of 30 in total, they are on flush movement trays, which is something I'm wanting to add to the whole army as I go through it. The trays are split into two 5x2, and two 5x1 so I can switch between deep formation and horde easily, and are magnetized.

    Re: Random Sinz

So here's a picture of my Hag BSB, It's a miniature from Tabletop Art and it's pretty nice. There were a few flaws with her, and the details aren't as crisp as the Fitzpatrick Witch Elves but I think it does look awesome.

I've gone for a scheme to match my other Witch Elves and magnetized the base as well so she can fit to the movement trays. But that doesn't mean that she won't be accompanying a Cauldron at some point.

    Re: Random Sinz

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm glad you're liking things, cause there's plenty more to come.

For todays installment here's some Assassins to continue the Khainite theme. Again all magnetized up to go onto the trays.

I think Assassins con be one of the more trickier things to get a good scheme on, you really want to paint them black and shady, but for tabletop appeal you need to add a bit of colour to them. But too much colour and they just look wrong. I'm happy with how they turned out, they fit with the army and the rest of the Assassins I have.

@HereBeDragons - To paint the blood I start off with Mechrite Red up to Blood red, then I give it a coat of Tamaya Clear red; this stuff is great for blood and just looks like a jar of the stuff when you buy it. To finish it off I mix a little Badab Black into the clear red, which makes it go a little lumpy and dab it on top.

    Re: Random Sinz

So it's been a rather busy few days for me, getting home late and starting early, so not much painting getting done.

But anyways here's a picture of one of my older minis, a Darkblade on Foot. This guy has been around in my army for some time now, leading various skirmishes and raids. He has recently been re-based, magnetized (of course) and had a new shield added.

Got tomorrow night off work so fingers crossed will have a unit for you to peruse then.

Very nice Sinz, am enjoying your models. Any chance of some pics of some of your other completed models from other armies?

    Re: Random Sinz

Cheers Tzarinchilla, don't worry they will be coming. Just need to get some pictures as I shift things around my room. I'm also getting pretty revved up with all these Storm of Magic rumours, so going a bit Fantasy mad at the moment, wanting to get the Dark Elves ready for a big game during the summer.

But till then here's tonight's helping of Elfiness, it's another BSB, this time my Standard Bearer from Karond Kar. This is the limited edition mini from the old starter set. I love this mini and I'm so glad I have a couple spare to play around with at a later date.

This Guy was painted about two years back, and brought out again last year when I was going through my 8th Ed redux. He's had a little bit of re-basing and magnetizing this time around.

    Re: Random Sinz

Today especially for Tzarinchilla here's a blast from the past in one of my Black Templar Sword Brethren Terminators. The idea at the time was to make up a 40k army made of Templar Terminators using the Deathwing rules. This guy was the 'counts as' Belial model.

I used the Lysander mini as a base, added some FW Templar bits, a resin base and a bit of Green Stuff and voila. The project then went on hold as I kind-of drifted out of the whole 40k scene for a while.

Yup another Dark Elf, I'm really wanting to get a whole host ready for this Storm of Magic, it looks like it's going to be good.

This model was done to represent a friends online character, although she looked a little different. I use her as a commander for my Crossbows and Bolt Throwers, a commander of the watch character. Usually equipping her with the Lifetaker.

I went for a simple black/metal scheme on her so that she fit in with the Crossbowmen. Re-based and magnetized and ready to roll again.

Really nice Darkelf - I love how you have such an simple, yet very strong scheme. I know what you mean about the Storm of Magic - hoping to get back painting my VC soon. Great work.

    Re: Random Sinz

Cheers silverstu, I really am loving the new stuff, it just seems like ages since I had something new for the elves to get me involved with them again.

This has to be one of my Favourite Dark Elf minis, I'm not entirely sure why, but I just love it. I hold him as the overall leader of my army (except for Malekith of course) and have actually bought a second one to be mounted on a Dragon, a huge Dragon in fact.

I've tried to keep the colours pretty simple again, to tie him into the rest of the army, most of my warriors being silver/black/purple and my corsairs having the red sea dragon cloaks.

Again he was painted a little while ago and has just been re-based and magnetized.

On another note, my next unit is almost complete, does anyone have any requests as to which unit I pull out the cases next to revamp??

DAMN YOU SINZ!!!! You are making me want to get more of my Skaven done as I have a small force of them actually painted, but at the same time I also have a reasonable force of Chaos warriors painted as well....

All this because your Dark Elves are looking all sexified (thats sexy and unified combined) and like you I also cant wait to see Storm Of Magic (and the black dragon that also looks super sexy)

Any chance of seeing some of your big gribblies that you are working on/completed?

He he, sorry about that mate, but you know me. Big gribbly things, hmm will have something for you tomorrow then

    But for tonight ...

Another mini that has a place in my heart (well what remains of it) is the Dark Emissary. This guy was and still is a pretty amazing sculpt by Chris Fitzpatrick. I painted this fella during the Dark Shadows Campaign that GW were running so so many years ago, and have just re-based him to match up with my current stuff.

When I see this guy, it reminds me of a game I had against a Skaven army where I had a whole Cavalry force (except him and a Fenbeast) I managed to break the Skaven in 2 turns and lost nothing. Not what my opponent was expecting.

Can't really see why that one mini is your fave. I like the Malekith on foot much better. Anyhoo, your Dark Elves look amazing! Much detail and your paintwork just shows a lot of love (as far as you are still capable of that emotion).

    Keep up. Great job.
