Cheers Chris, will get a one done for you soon. Maybe even try my luck with a video guide.

So a little break from my guide to show whats in the process at the moment. This is a prototype Dark Eldar I've painted. I'm currently painting up an army as a commission for a friend. I was given free range with the scheme, so opted for a red/black look, which will be reversed on the vehicles in the force.

I should hopefully have the first squad all done (except the basing which I will do when I have more done) by the end of this week. As well as some more for the guide.

That'd be great, I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I'm really liking that Dark Eldar scheme so far, especially the subtle highlighting of the black. Do you have much to paint for the commission?

Very nice highlights on the helm!

Have you considered using black or purple on the body armor to smooth the transition from the helm in colors?

Looking very nice. The colours work well and looking forward to seeing a squad of these finished with the bases you have planned for them.

    Re: Random Sinz

So I thought it was time for another bit of the painting guide. Nothing too extensive today, just painting a bit of purple on the cloth areas.

First off I give the areas a smooth coat of GW's Liche Purple. I really like this colour and use it on the majority of my elves to tie them together as an army, it goes on nice and can be mixed with a few things to give some nice contrasts.

Next is a highlight of Liche Purple and Skull White, I add just a small spot of white as it makes quite a difference to the purple. I then paint the more raised areas of the cloth.

Finally I add a little more white to the mix and add another highlight to the raised ares. I try to make the final highlight quite thin along the very edges of the areas as to not take the attention away from the original colour. If you do too much it will make the cloth look more pink than purple and I really don't think pink Dark Elves will look that terrifying on the tabletop.

So I'm now getting pretty close to finishing off the Cauldrons attendants, only have the black areas to highlight, the blood and gore to add, and the basing to be done (Which I will do once the actual Cauldron is painted).

This week I will be doing some extra work on my Dark Eldar Commission and I'll be finishing off the attendants before moving onto the Cauldron itself.

    Re: Random Sinz

Thanks mate, been a while since I got anything updated in my plog. I suppose I should add an update or two.

Lets see what have I been up to in my absence. Well I had a big game of Fantasy a couple of weeks ago (report and photos to come) 7000pts of my Dark Elves against a 10000pts unholy alliance protecting an Empire Monetary.

In game shot of my Dark Elf battle line

My army also made an appearance at the GW Warhammer Doubles Tournament, sadly I was unable to go myself, so a couple of the lads from my local GW borrowed 2000pts of my Elves and took them down. With a little coaching and help with the lists, and after only a week of test games they managed to come 39th which is not bad all things considered (best out of all from GW Carlisle, and best they have ever done). I also made them up a piece of scenery for the game (photos to come).

WIP shot of the Corrupted Waystone

At the moment I'm working on a few bits and pieces, a Throne of Everblight to use as a SoM fulcrum or Khainite Throne (from a campaign pack I picked up). Still working on the Cauldron painting guide. Making up a couple of Khainite Priests and a unit of the new Blood Vassals from Raging Heroes to add to my Witch Elf army.

I'll try and add something new later on tonight, once I get home from work. Till then happy gaming

    Re: Random Sinz

So it’s been a couple of weeks since my latest Warhammer game, it was a fun day, for myself and I would hope to think the other guys that turned up to play. The idea again was to have a a bring and battle game where I used my Dark Elves and took on whatever came along. After the last game I was a bit hesitent to bring along the whole horde so decided that I would take along a 7000pt list instead. Louis had been wanting me to use a Khainite force, so I based it around Witch Elves, Executioners, Assassins, Hags and had Crone Hellebrone as the army general.

My Dark Elves before set up

As you can see I did take a few things that aren’t Khainite, but might be found around the cult. Hydrae are a must to add some threat, Corsairs are there because, well how else would the army get to the Empire. Spearmen, Warriors and Crossbows are simply Household Guards that have accompanied the expedition. I arrived early on Saturday morning and set to getting the army ready.

The guys get their Minis ready for the game

A little later my opponents started to get their armies ready. Sadly again there were very few painted models on the far side of the table. I was facing 1500pts of Wood Elves (which were actually mostly painted) 2500pts of Skaven (Grey Horde), 3000pts of Vampire Counts (with 3 painted models), around 600-800pts of Empire (with an almost painted Mortar) and 1500pts of Daemons (mostly still grey)

    The forces assemble

As I saw the Hordes of Greyness assembling I realised I was actually going to be outnumbered vastly and outpointed by a fair bit as well.

If you'd like to read more of the report, with more pictures take a look on my blog (I'm too lazy to type it all up here again) : http://sinzaren.blogspot.co.uk/2012/...-may-2012.html

Hey guys, been a while since I had anything to put in here. I have been working on things and I've decided I'm going to try my hand at making Videos on You Tube for my Fantasy bits and pieces. Here's my first attempt. Now I know it still needs work but would love to hear some comments on what you think, what I need to improve on and what you like (if anything) about it.

    Cheers Sinz

    Re: Random Sinz

Cool to see the Basilisk, I brought one myself, but the tail was a bit wonky from the cast, so I'm waiting for a replacement before I paint it.

First off, the camera could be better. It seems a bit nitpicky to go after the quality of the equipment you're using, but since you are showing off paintjobs... Witht he one you have, the colours are coming off as a bit muted, and it's all a bit blurry. So that's an area of improvement. Also, maybe mount the camera in a fixed position and move the miniature instead? At the moment it's all a bit shaky, so that might help a bit. Also, allow the camera to linger a bit. But all in all I like the video. It gives a nice impression of what the model is like. It's a very cool paintjob, too.

Yeh I see what you mean. It's going to be a bit of a process trying to get things right. I have managed to improve the sound on my second attempt. I've been told that the turntable section is too long or not needed. Do you think adding a slideshow of photographs instead would be a better idea?

    Re: Random Sinz

Thanks Tim, I'm going to start working on Basilisk number two tonight. Fingers crossed I'll have a better camera set up for when I get it finished.

Till then here's take two on the videos, I seem to have better sound on this one. (Who'd have thought that recording sound on a phone would work) :P.

I've managed to badger the local Cybercafe to hunt me down a decent way of getting the videos done, for a reasonable price. Till then I'll keep up with these and try to get the format sorted/improve on content etc.

    So I've been busy this week working on my Pre-Heresy army. I decided that I would sit down and right a starting list for a campaign I will hopefully be starting/running later in the year (once everyone gets some bits painted up). So here's my list (using the Tempus Fugitives AoTE Expansion);

    Servo Arm
    Locator Beacon

    365pts

    Legion Tactical Squad (10 man)
    Melta gun
    Autocannon
    Servo Arm
    Combi-Melta (Sergeant)

Hey guys long time no see

I've decided to start blogging again with my projects, this time I'm going to go more for the video side of things. Now I still need to get a better camera, which I will hopefully manage to do next month. Until then I'm going to make up some hobby videos in a slideshow style. Hope you enjoy.

My god he's back! Great looking squad, was worried that they were a little dark initially but now think it suits them. Very gritty! Green Osl is really nice. That and the black armour and very pale skin, they do remind me of the Borg... Which isn't such a bad thing of course! Also, don't worry about the slideshow style, it allows you to spend a couple of seconds admiring each angle.
