    Ork Oddboyz

Righty-ho, I have a question which I'm sure has a simple answer. Do Ork Oddboyz actually have separate models which are placed with units, or are they simply an upgrade for another unit type, and don't have a separate model? I can guess that adding a Mek to a vehicle would be an upgrade, and the Mek enhances the abilities of the vehicle rather than having any separate function, but I'm not so sure how it would work with Slavers added to Gunz units, as they are more like an infantry unit than a vehicle, so would they have a stand to represent them which is placed with the Gunz formation?

    Thanks.

It's an upgrade as the unit type is 'character'.

For vehicles it might be good idea to add a big cannon on the tank to separate it out from the rest. At least that is what the ork player in here has done. There is no hard rules on how you should do it. You can use the Oddboy blister models or scratch build your own.

Right, ok then, so if I have a stand with a Warboss and Retinue on it, then what it actually is would be a stand of whatever the unit type is that the formation consists of that has been upgraded to be a Warboss? For example, in a Warband I could upgrade one of the 2 Nobz units by adding a Warboss to them, or equally I could add the Warboss to a stand of Boyz, though I don't know why I might want to do this.

Also, what in this case do you do with your Mek and Runtherd/Slaver models? Just include them on command bases?

In general there is no rules on where you put characters. However in case of Warlord for Orks there is (see p.138, special rule 6.5.1 warlord). Order is: 1. Great Gargant 2. Gargant or Nob unit

Runtherd might be used to fill out some much needed grot bases. Slaver ... nob or warboss or something else. It's up to your preference.

As long as you can tell which units are Oddboyz, and it's (fairly) consistant, you should be OK. Here are my Big Gunz (right) and Big Gunz with Slavers (left).

Slavers are SM2 era Traktor Kannon. Big Gunz are E40k era Lootas and Shokk Attack Gunz.

Cool. Makes sense to me now. Ironic that the model which represents a Slaver is a Mek with a Shokk Attack Gun though!
