Terrible!
Only one update per two months... but here it is:
As you can imagine, this means the structure paint is finally on!
Of course this is still very WIP, but the natural colour of the polysterel is vanishing... and thats a very good thing

WAIT.... WHAT?
Something is changing... the plate with the craters is vanishing, something different is appearing while the sun goes down.... I can feel the greater good is approaching
And thats the little WIP-Easter-shot of the second tau plate... the landing platform has to wait a little longer until the command base is ready...
For the extra tau feeling a LED-light is installed but Light allways attracts creepy-crawlies...
And thats for now... good night, good fight![]()

Very cool terrain, hope to see more.![]()

"It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies."
- Colonel Walter E. Kurtz
Keep going! Looks great- love the power station.
Oooh, very nice. That's a lamp already installed in the Tau command centre, right?
I really like how the ground is somewhat uneven. Looks very natural. Also, could it be that these Stealth Suits got quite a bit more paint on them than the last time I saw them?
Anyhow, hope to play on that table some day.![]()
@Cynic: Thank you very much.
@totgeboren: Hope I can show you more... I always need some time for the updates
@Andy_T: Thanks a lot, I will take this compliment directly to my colleague
@ Sigur: Dangeschön XD Actuall its a colourshifting LED-Orb. Since there is actual no electronic control panel (but we will fix that), this thing chances colours every few seconds (red, purple, blue, green, yellow, turqouis, white... you get the idea) and it took me some attempts to take the pictures in the right momentalso thanks for the comment about the ground, we tried to vary the pressure on the plates and the direction while filling to get a more irregular look, we also overdid some plates when they were a little mor hardened out to get a rougher surface. And yes, I think the suits got some more colour since our last game, even when I don't remember when that was ^^
And while I am answering here some comments I got a picture message on my mobile phone, showing a pre-shot of what the end colour of the table would be, compared to the Tıranid base, and the unfinished plate...

Since there was a pre-shot it was somehow obvious that the next update would come a little bit faster...
So now all plates are drybrushed with a colour that nearly looked like blazing orange, nonetheless the rock-desert look comes out better and better.
Also some soot and smut was added.
And same goes for the terrain plates.
I tried to take a closeup-picture so you may see the the structure and colour of the table a little bit better.
At last we found out that one of the craters is exactly large enough to take a Venator... Wich lead to this picture:
Hope you like it. As always, comments and critic are welcome![]()
I think our last game was around early February or something like that.
Looking very cool. The Ravenor (?) coming out of the sand dune is looking nasty. Very cool.![]()
Amazing to see someone make hills from delicious waffles.
But honestly, this is great stuff. It's inspiring to see.
@sigur: Thanks. I am also not sure how this thing is named but I agree, this hole was made for him. I think he still lives in there. Going furrios about Tau kids playing next doors.
@omgitsduane: Thank you very much and yes lately everything i built is made out of love, candy and waffles.
as for now it really seems to go with the one update per two months thing... and here it is...
As you can see, the water on the small lake is now done. It did come out really nice I think.
Also the birthpool is now done, many of the water-snail-alien-plant-thingies life there but lately also a tyranids are in the neighborhood and that meant bad news for a lonely dark elder, who is right now bleeding to death.
Strange but it seems that also an ALIEN egg is bred here.
So and thats a picture of the full birthpool-terrain-part.
When you compare this plate and the lake with each outher you can see that different colourizations for the water were tried out. Hope you like it.
Last but not least... there are two snails lying in the lake, here is a closeup of one... and one more pics for the fun of it...
If you want to see more pics, you can find them on my photobucket album. Comments and critics are, als always welcome
Very good stuff. I really like how this world of yours has its very own unique character. The whole ecosystem is scary as heck and diverse but it also looks coherent enough. Whenever I do terrain it's highly reminiscent of real world stuff. It's also nice that this table has a rather large number of bodies of water. Way less common on wargames tables than one would think.
Anyhoo, keep it up and I'm looking forward to seeing more!
Looks utterly alien, which is something that can't be said of all 40K-tables!

Beautiful table. It truly looks like scenery from another planet, very nice! Love the red, dusty look, which gives it a Mars-like appearance, and the alien flora and fauna. Great work, keep it up!
This planet of yours looks absolutely terrifying. I think orbit is the closest one would want to be. Good job!
@ Sigur: If it looks diverse but coherent, it goes exactly as planned
@ unwanted: Thank you very much.
@Mr Scratch&Sniff: Actually there is no trick behind it. The Water that was uses is a standard polymer which can be found in every modelmaking shop. The package was nice because it came with the colours of yellow, blue and red. For the large lake the ground was prepainted so you can see a difference between the deeper, and the flat water. Then only the "water" was poured onto it, the waves came naturally with the viscosity of the polymer.
For the birthpools: Here the underground has the colour of the modell-plate itself, then every decoration element was glued into it (like the elder, the green-snails, the spore-thrower,...). Then a part of the modell water was mixed with the colour concentrate. You only need a few drops to get the colour u desire. Yellow was used for the long birthpool, which I asume, is meant by you with river. The yellow did somehow came out greenish, due to ... I don't know what. But I think it looks really nice. As before the wavelike structure came from viscosity and the inlaying objects since it is only a very thin layer of "water". Hope I answered your question
@Scythe: Thanks a lot
@static grass: Thank you, that's nice to hear, even if it meens that Mister Ravenor will never become visits![]()

Cool table man, it would look cool if the land raider was blue to make some contrast to the rock, same with the water. Anyway this looks amazing, I'm just starting a foam gamming board myself and was looking around for ideas and I think you got me sold on the reddish canyon look.
