Re: Zywus's log of all things Undead

Long time since last uppdate. I blame the ususal suspect of studies, social events and all that stuff. Plus I'm starting to finally get lured into DarkEldar, which have stolen some valuable painting effort.

Anyways, here is a start of a slumbering project. As there are rumours of new blackknights being released, I think I better get these done befor those releases or I'll feel a bit stupid if the new BL turns out to look splendid since I mainly bought these to get some nice BlackKnights with barding. (the world has far, far, to many blackpainted empire/bretonnian knights with skeleton heads)

Pic along the battleline. 20 in total. (though i got an extra rider. Thank you Mantic)

And a pic from the top. (a tad dark I'm afraid)

Thanks dude. Nothing like the old days when it comes to undead.

It's Revenant Knights from Mantic. They are a bit less Heroic scale and more Realistic (for being reanimated corpses that is) than GW models so I hope they won't look odd next to the rest of the army. I considered swapping the heads with Plastic GraveGuard heads but I fear it might look a bit bobble-heady.

If someone can think of a suitable (reasonably easy to acquire) bit to replace the ZombieDragons Right-Front leg, let me know. That is what's holding me back from having a go at finishing the beast.

And now for something completely different... (well maybe not completely different, although not exactly something undead)

This Lammasu is actually from the very first batch of models I ever bought. I started as a Chaos Dwarf player right in time for them to be basically discontinued and he has been languishing in a dusty box for too many years.

Summer is upon us and I plan to make a mighty push and paint a ungodly amount of mantic zombies, but until they arrive, i'll warm up with the Lammasu.

Alright, this bad boy is amost done. Just some work left on the teeth and horns, aswell as a bit on the bronze.

I had a go at a little lightning effect on the base and it turned out much better than I expected (not that that means very much). I do feel the lava paches themselves don't look so good though. Should they be lighter perhaps, or darker?

    Long time no see.

With summer upon us I have had time to give some attention to my beloved undead again. The Zombie-Dragon have been entrusted to my personal sculpting-guru and will hopefully have a full set of legs and be ready to paint before the end of summer. Until then I have had a go at a Vampire.

I'm really pleased with the result. Especially his face.

The horde has swelled again. This time through the addition of a giant named Bruce.
Fans of Mantic might recognize his smaller brothers serving in various Zombieregiments

Sweet 3up! And he's carrying the hand of another giant

That necrarch is fantastic. The sunken red-rimmed eyes are excellent.

I should really get to finish my own manticore/dragon someday. It's been way to long since I introduced them in this log. Maybe i'll have some time for them around Christmas.

Anyways, i have made a little progress on the Vampire that will be leading the army soon (hopefully). I'm actually not sure but i think it's an old GW model from the 80's. If anyone can confirm where hi is from i'd be grateful

He is so bad ass he even has a big stone following him around, giving him a good vantage point of the battle.
It is, I got the same model as a general for my VC army, with a swirly 2handed sword stuck in the ground to just to show he got a 2hander.. but hes even more awsome than your guy, my guy got a gravestone with his soon to be victims name on it following him around. (ofc, the name changes with the victim..)

Man, hurry up and paint Dieter. Or send him to me and I will. I'll give him back.

    Promise.

Thank you. I agree on the eyes being the best part on him. I'm a little disappointed by the scrolls now that I see it close up. Perhaps i should repaint them and make the scribblings a bit thinner.
I guess it is a bit wierd that the Zobie giant managed to find another Giant to feast upon. Zombies are drawn to their own kind i suppose...

    Thanks for the conformation.

Your offer is intriguing but i'll have to decline. You have a pointthough. Dieter have been waiting for far too long. I intend to make him my next project after I finish this gem:

    As well as these guys:

The sheer amount of them does hurt my sanity a bit, but they should be somewhat fast to paint now when i've given them a foundation.

Necrarchs were always my favourite vampires. Looking forward to see how the zombie giant turns out, I always wanted to get one of those 3-ups to use as a giant.

Speaking of this Guy. I have almost finished him (and his rock). Some work left on his teeth and eyes but otherwise he should be good to go.

I just can't help hearing queens song "we will rock you" in my head when I see him. (although with slightly different lyrics )

Buddy you're a boy make a big noise
Playin' in the street gonna be a big man some day
You got blood on yo' face
    You big disgrace
Kickin' your can all over the place

We will we will suck you
We will we will suck you

Buddy you're a young man hard man
Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day
You got blood on yo' face
    You big disgrace
Wavin' your banner all over the place

We will we will suck you
We will we will suck you

Buddy you're an old man poor man
Pleadin' with your eyes gonna make you some peace some day

You got blood on your face
    You big disgrace
Somebody better put you back in your place

We will we will suck you

suck em' dry. Necrarchs have no problem there. They like to go forever without good blood (just rats, crows ect.) so when some bold warrior or witch hunter approaches their secluded tower they pretty much gorge themselves.

That ghoul horde rocks, Zywus. I think the red/green scheme on your characters works. It looks great.

I'd really get a kick out of seeing that guy with a microphone stand.

"'Ello Sylvania! Are you ready to rock? I can't 'ear you! Are you ready to ROCK?!"

Of course he can't hear the audience: they're all skeletons. No lungs, y'see.
