    WAAAAAGHH GORTEEF_ an Ork Log

Okay, so for the past 6 months or so I have been amassing a HUGE Ork Army.
(arent they supposed to be that, huge and proppa?)

Anyhow, I really love how the Orks play game wise. They are burly in game, can assault for days and are just fun to play. I don't play them the way I play my guard, I abandon concern for casualties and issues... I just plunge headlong and kill, maim and Krump.

So far my record with this army including an APOC game vs. Nids is 5-2-0.
The extent of my army is quite large, but I will be using this log here to highlight what I am working on etc. Bear in mind I have had quite the head start already.... Orks iz hard to rezist...

    The extent of my army:
    Ghazzgull Thraka
3 Assorted Warbosses, all AOBR, one with Konverted Kombi Skorcha.
(The Main non Thraka Warboss will be named Skumgog Gorteef... Hence the log title.)
2 Meks, both with KFF... 1 standard model, 1 konverted.
140+ Boys. Mostly AOBR, but some battleforce boys in there including at least 40 Shoota boys. Many Big Shootas, Rockits etc.
    20+ Lootas plus a mek or 2
    25+ Burnas plus a mek or 2
    6 Meganobs
    35+ Nobs
    24+ Bikers
    1 FW Ork Warbiker Boss
    9 Killa Kanz
    2 Deff Dreads
    1 FW Mega Dread
5 Battlewagons, 4 with Deff Rollas 1 With FW Supa Kannon
4 Warbuggies (konverted to have rockits)
    4 Trukks
    2 Wartrakk Skorchas
    8 Deff Kopta's, 3 with Buzzsaws
    20+ Grots with Runtherd
    1 Stompa_DA RUFUS...

Now painting wise I want to get this up and running as quick and decently painted as possible. So I am using non traditional techniques and I have to say I am pleased with the results. I am working towards getting a solid table top standard as quick as possible. I think its a successful technique and as I said, I am pleased with the results.

And now for some goodies, including the Deff Skull Color Scheme (yes i know they arent dark blue, but I have seen some really nice light blue schemes on the net of late and wanted to go that route)

    Gorteef himself

So what... Does every IG commander fall to the green side of the force?
You plan a very large Waagh : 15 vehicles, it is a real challenge.
Regarding your first work, i like the warboss very much, he looks green, dark, bad and aggressive, just what he should be. Very good work with the blue : the light tone is a good idea and the weathering works very nice...
    I want to see more!

Nicely done. One of the best things about being an ork player is always being able to go on Warseer and see new ork plogs.

As for your list of Ork stuff---and I thought the haul of greenskins I recently got was big!

Looking extremely nice (and suitably Orky) Razormasticator!
Definitely liking your use of the light blue (Ice Blue?); it's a really nice contrast with the skintone and metal colours.
How did you do the Big Boss' armour?

Re: WAAAAAGHH GORTEEF_ an Ork Log

AT LAST! I really like the contrast between the skin colour (it is dark, but it suits my taste) and the light blue on the armour. Good choice.

When I read your list I exclaimed something strung together with so many rude words that it would have exhausted the punctuation marks on my keyboard had I tried to substitute them for letters.

I can see why the converted nob is one of your favourites, mine too. The converted buggy is great (and particularly nasty - those scythes!)

Looks like this could be a mighty log.

    Keep up the great work!

Everything looks great so far. The buggy scythes remind me of unreal tournament, and I might have to yoink the idea should when I get back to my orks.... I also like the dark shading you use for your skin, although I know it's not everyone's thing.

Yes its ice blue or a vallejo equivilent. Sky blue perhaps?
The method I am using is in the 1st post above. Its Thoume's mostly washes method. It allows me to work on multiple models and quickly.

So its just a wash of devlan mud over a white prime coat. The Thrakka green requires 2 coats.

The skin is dark, but it looks much lighter in person.

Granted its for getting your army to a decent table top standard, not golden demon painting... but still. I did take some extra time with the Warboss though since when not having Thraka in my list he will be my bog standard warboss.

Thanks man, I have some more where that came from as well. I like the look of the modded buggies, I just didnt use the orks they came with as the range is so much better now. The drivers/gunners werent to scale with my army as sold. So I had to do some konvertin...
