MkIIc Rhino Armoured Personnel Carrier | Attached to the 10th Devastator Squad, 2nd Battle Company

The ubiquitous Rhino, the mainstay of the Adeptus Astartes force, a work horse and armoured transport of unparalleled design. Any manufactorum or mechanicus forge worth its salt, so to speak, can construct the Rhino using the masterfully crafted STC templates. The Lions Argent, like all other Chapters, utilise the Rhino across their chapter deployments and formations.

RH-IIC-10D is currently attached to the 10th Devastator Squad of the 2nd Battle Company under the command of Veteran Sergeant Phaadon Aegidius.

A small update on Captain Dardanus Anarian, this is the second time i have re-visited this character for enhancements and modifications, the first was to add an Iron Halo and a Helmet Crest to give him more presence within my growing force, the catalyst for this being the addition of a command squad, 3 of them bearing shields identical in style to that of the Captain.

This re-visit comprises the addition of a cloak, taken from the Minotaur's Chaplain Ivanus Enkomi model from Forge World. The cloak is a singular cast with the power pack and makes a perfect charater upgrade item. I then added some purity seals and an Iron Halo. So here he is; Captain Dardanus Anarian, Palladin and Commander of the 2nd Battle Company;

A small update; following the recent addition of a Cloak to Captain, i examined the characters i've greated for this force side by side decided that what was really missing is a crest of some description for the Chapter Master, so i plundered my nits box and retrieved the crest from the Asterion Moloc, once combined with some greenstuff, the broken halo from Enkomi's crozius arcanum and after a few tweeks i have something i was happy with. thus here is the end result:







Sliced the front detailing off of the crest to allow in the insert of the iron halo and then used it as detailing infront of that.

Stormtalon Gunship Tempestas-Hex
Tempestas Squadron, Lions Argent Chapter

The Stormtalon Gunship serves the armies of the Adeptus Astartes Lions Argent primarily as a ground-attack craft. It is fast enough to engage all but the swiftest of enemies, and sufficiently well-armed to reduce the chosen foe to a mangle of twisted wreckage and ruined flesh. The tide of many a battle has turned with the expert deployment of these close support gunships. The Stormtalon Gunship is a remarkably versatile and dependable craft, small for vehicles of its class, a concept often at odds with the larger than human nature of the Adeptus Astartes. The stormtalon's main battlefield advantage is its agility, capable of VTOL and extreme directional changes at speed, inflicting forces upon the pilot that a human would struggle to withstand.

The Lions Argent most commonly deploy these gunships as close support for ground forces, providing heavy weapons support for infantry squads and reacting to the ever-changing nature of battle in the brutal warzones the Astartes are called to fight in. Tempestas Squadron consists of three Stormtalon Gunships, all primarily fitted with a violent twin-linked assault cannon and a pair of skyhammer missile launchers, making them ideal for hunting heavy infantry and light vehicles alike.

By way of summary and as a partial review of this lovely new little kit from Games Workshop i would like to give you the following comments; the kit is well engineered and extremely straight forward to put together, no strange or fiddly parts, nothing that requires mastery of the laws of physics to get it to adhere or any of the strange things we've had to endure from kits in the past. My only real critism of the kit was its twin linked assault cannon mount, strangely low on the front of the craft with a strange array of landing gear attached. Not happy with where it sits i decided to make some creative changes, starting with cutting out the cylindrical mount from the nose and re-mounting the assault cannons higher into the chasis, not perfect but more than satisfactoy i simply used a spare rhino top hatch blank panel to add a cleaner finish to the alterations.

The talons look way better without the box of stupidity underneath, nice and simple solution you've made this gives me some hope for the kit, and I might even get a few myself now based on this and a few other great examples of different alterations to the kit

Oh how I love that chapter master! The helmeted head is awesome with the sculpt, looks so much cooler. Great job on the Stormtalons as well, one of the better and more subtle changes to the assault cannon I've seen yet. On the one to the right in the "group photo" however the red looks a bit blotchy around the cockpit, nothing a quick coat of red shouldn't solve. Distracts from the otherwise smooth paintjob!

Been a while since I commented here mate, apologies for that because you have produced one of the nicest looking Astartes forces I've seen in a long long time. There's a very elegant simplicity to your Lions Argent that I wish I'd adopted for my Astartes and the work you've put in on the background is great. Huge kudos fella.

Oh and well done on finally selling the Stormtalon kit to me - I'm definitely picking one up soon.
