Pariahs Random Bits Thread

Ok,
This is going to be a thread for me to show all the random bits I'll be going in between my other projects.

First up is what I plan to be a squad of Catachan Ork Hunters.

The idea for this came from some Imperial Guard book (can't remember which one), and a test autogun as a test for weapons for a future plan.

The pic's show the bits for the 16 men, and also the autogun that was made as a test model.

The first man up is a normal hunter with a autogun. He is based off a Catachan on page 73 of the Imperial Guard codex, on the bottom right - the guy wearing the "sunglasses" and aiming his weapon. Thought this pose just looked class, and had to copy it.

Have also made a few changes to the autogun since the original test. Firstly, the front "rail"(?) at the top of the lasgun has been removed, along with the tube. This has left a sort of sight at the back. Both sides have also been sanded completely flat. The magazine fitting has also been changed so that it only has the top of the magazine attached to the body. And I have filled in the space just above this where the old las clip was seen.

Nice start with the autogun PariahZero - you might want to add an ejection port above the magazine to further distinguish it from the lasgun. Have fun converting the Ork Hunters...

Cool gun there. I agree with maxsigmund the gun should have an ejection port. You could also cut the end suppressor part of the barrel shorter. The old gw autoguns had a really snub little bit on the end.

Look forward to seeing how these turn out.

Hmmm...... good point there about the ejection way. Must add that.

So have started on the colour-scheme. I know alot of the colours are kinda bright (the blue and the green jacket) but these will be dulled with washes. And also, I kinda think they fit in with the idea of the Ork Hunters - that is, being really loud and obvious. I had to stop before I could get it all done as my boltgun metal is solid

, and also I have to be up early for work tomorrow. But don't worry, am getting the new paint tomorrow after work, and will hopefully have the man finished (paintwise at least).

You can also see the changes that I have made to the autogun to make it alittle more realistic.

OK, so I've gotten the first coat done. Dont mind the messiness of the painting, this is just the first coat, and gives and idea of what colours are where.

Am working on the 2nd now, and another hunter.

Looks good. The gun definitely looks better with the port. Really looks like a machine gun not a lashing now.

OK, so here's the first guy finished - albeit much later than I would have liked. I also have no idea how to base these yet, so that's why he has an empty base.

I have also changed up how Ima do the rest of the squad. I've decided to start to clean them all up etc. and work on each man as the feeling strikes me. Ima see how this system works for awhile anyway.

C&C welcome, particularly in relation to the base or the new system!

OK, so another update (kinda...)

There's been not much progress really, but all men have been cleaned up and sub assemblies sorted out. This should (hopefully) make them easier to get done fully. However, before anyone (who read, say, my Imp Guard plog

) gets any doubts, this project WILL get finished.

While discussing the finishing of this project, I must point out that there will be no updates here for a while (until about September), as I must do a promotion course...

But fear not, after that I will be back at this (and other) projects with a vengeance! This will include much expenditure and revelations!!

OK, so alittle bit of an update.

Have been getting much more freedom lately, and this has led to work being done. No pics unfortunately, but most men are nearly done with first coat.

Have also used these men as a testbed for plans for my next major plan.

OK, so after a fairly long hiatus, I've started back to painting!

Have only 2 models left to assemble for this squad, but the rest are just in need of a second coat of paint and custom slings. So hoping it shouldn't take too long to get them done

Though I will need advice from people as to how to do a proper base for the squad. Jungle theme obv, but need help with how to do it right - amount of trees, roots etc etc.

My last weekend before finishing the promotion course (and the unpleasantness that is living in barracks...). Have spent today working on the hunters and watching Battle: LA - OK, mainly just watching B:LA repeatedly!

But with the finishing of this course I'll be able to work on these daily, post pics etc.

And recent planning changes means that my major plan can be revealed soon too!!!

OK, so a slightly productive weekend. More models have been finished, and are just awaiting pics tomorrow.

Will also be investing in my own decent camera soon, so expect more and better quality pics then
