    What Grinds your Gears?

i saw this on another forum and thought id ask the good people of warseer what annoy them the most when playing a good game of 40k.

mine is when people move their APCs/tanks around and clearly make a 6" move, then when my trygon assaults it, his tank magically moved 12" and all of a sudden im hitting on 6s against it.

so what grinds your gears when playing 40k?

You know what really grinds my gears is? People who use the term "special snowflake, stale beer, ignorant waitresses, people who say "bandwagon jumping" when a new codex comes out, paint that has magicaly vanished out of my paint pots, people(or animals) who bump me while Im painting, sore losers, sore winners, people who find the need to be ignorant on forum, trolls, flamers(not tzeentch), flat soda, open bags of chips, loud children, people who cant paint to save their life who point out mistakes about my paint jobs, people who **** with my models while they are on the board, smelly people, small game rooms filled with smelly people, and kittens. Yes, kittens.

What's wrong with kittens? The stuff that grinds my gears? the new Grey knight codex, little kids (just in general) people who are arrogent or condencending, who typsecast or beleive in stereotypes, people who are rude for no reason, Hypocrites, sore losers, terribly painted armies that are like that for months/indefinately, when suddenly an army you have played for years is changed almost out of recognition (Grey Knights) or people who are poor sporting, and people who are ungentlemen like.

    Re: What Grinds your Gears?

When people who haven't been playing even half as long as me tell me I'm "playing wrong" or want to "give me some tips" because my army list isn't a carbon copy of what they would take... which in all likelihood they just took off a forum.

    That really grinds my gears.
Though my guards may sleep and ships may lie at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

What really grids my gears? Rule lawyers, people who don’t read their codices, owning three large armies that I find myself constantly having to let other use and fix when they are done, losing dice, the fact that there is no place open late night to get food around here, and being a slash of color in a sea of gray.

    Re: What Grinds your Gears?

When people start asking a ton of questions about my Daemons in a tournament because they never took the time to learn anything about my codex. I understand that there aren't many Daemon players out there but it doesn't mean you should ask for me to explain every damn thing about my army. Another thing, when people think that only one version of an army can work. I DO NOT run Fatecrusher and I have a winning record. According to the so called experts on the internet that shouldn't even be remotely possible. Oh and one more tidbit of information.....

people who are overly finikity with the rules, making sure every inch and measurment is exact, even in your turn.

people who say ' its been faq'd' but dont have the faq in question, and will not go find it for me to show me..
its fine if somthing has been faq'd but atleast print off the page...else im going to faw some things in my army... >.>

tank cover saves. its arule yes, but it pisses me off, 3+ cover because apprently my marine is incapable of shooting the side of a rhino he can see in clear los ..but its angled incorrectly...

adults playing any wargame that get pissed off if they loose. its a game for fun..not to win.

people who try and give me painting tips when they are 10 years younger and cannot even paint a smooth coat of paint..
its fine, if they genuinly want to discuss painting, thats always welcome..but its the ' oh you should base it like that and highlight this.'

    complaining about warhammer 40k.

    Non WYSIWYG models and proxies.
People who will attempt to argue a rules point without even having a copy of the relevant codex/FAQ/rulebook.
People who use 'that's the way I've always played it' as an argument.
    List tailoring.
People who claim 'it doesn't really matter'. If it matters to me - your opponant - then it matters.
People who spell Mat Ward with a double 't'.
Fantasy players claiming that there is more skill in Fantasy than 40K (and then 'proving' it by mindlessly banzai charging every time they play 40K and complaining loudly when they lose).
    Flickerfields.
People who claim Tau have existed in the background longer than Necrons.
People who refuse to accept that 2nd edition Necron Warriors are not Immortals.
    In-store Apocalypse games.
People who claim I'm a WAAC player because I don't let them cheat, and actually try to win my games.
    Anyone who shouts 'Waaagh!'.
People who quote The Most Important Rule in an attempt to gain the moral high ground.
Chaos players who refuse to accept that anything in the 3.5 codex was even an incy bit overpowered.
    'True scale' Marines.
People who will insist on using silly RAW to gain an advantage, but moan if you then enforce all silly RAW (Drop Pod doors in particular).

The rule that troops shooting from a transport can measure line of sight (and range) from any point of an open-toped vehicle. One of my friends plays Dark Eldar, and exposes only the very tip of his raiders from cover, which still allows his entire squad to shoot normally. It put us in mind of the sheep in A Close Shave, with all the kabalite warriors standing in an inverted-pyramid on the very tip of the raider.

This. All of it. My neck is now sore from agreeing so much. Don't get me started on this "true scale" nonsense. Yes, because SMs are supposed to be
    15ft tall.

Also, people quoting Family Guy in threads...

Just wait until someone does this with Burna Boyz. conversely you are able to shoot said Raider which is also only moving 6" a turn to perform this.

People who complain and whine about other people's armies. Especially when they use "the most important rule" as a carte blanche to be a rude git.

The WAAAGH shouting is defiantely a gear grinder, why oh why do you do it, you're not doing yourself any favours!!! Sure, I would do it for a free sprue at Games Day but otherwise.... NO!!

Oh and people who rage about losing, that wouldn't aggrevate me, I'd just find it incredibly funny such is the mind of a teen

    Re: What Grinds your Gears?

People who claim my Guard army is a 'Leafblower' list just because it has Chimeras in it.
People who claim that they 'play for fun' and 'don't mind whether they win or lose', while complaining about how cheesy and overpowered their last opponant's army was.
People who think some illegible scribbles on the back of a fag packet are the equivalent of my typed up army list with full points and equipment breakdowns.
Anyone who criticises my lovingly converted Rough Riders.
People who go just over the points limit, but think it's OK because it's still within some completely arbitrary 'points buffer zone'.
People who clearly have no idea what they're talking about lecturing me on the subject.
Anyone who tries to claim that an entire Infantry Platoon (plus transports) is one unit for the purposes of deploying in Dawn of War missions. Doubly so when they try to argue that a Tactical Squad and a Rhino are a single unit...
    Suspiciously generous measuring.
Anyone who seriously tries to tell me that my Necrons are overpowered.

People who take the game too seriously
People who get really, really angry over 40k rules arguments.
    People who smell of BO
People who won't help themselves but expect other people to do it
People who get hung up about proxies and WYSIWYG
    The term "WYSIWYG"
    People who talk about "WYSIWYG"
    Small children
People freaking out over women in the shop
People who complain about armies not being painted.
