    This.

Seriousy GW is just out there to make a buck like any company. I really dont see why people think they are evil for having a business plan that works. And yes I complain about things like prices but its not because GW is evil. Finecast wasnt a ploy to push off bad product to its customers (insert insidious laughter). Making hardback books in full color is just to try and make a better product. Trial and error. Some things work, some dont and GW doesnt do these things just to piss off its customers

Lack of a decent dedicated weapons sprue from GW, every other mini company does a line of generic "sci-fi weapons" or "fantasy" weapons but GW doesnt anymore.

I miss the Space Marine CC sprue and stuff like the Necromunda pistols sprues

    Two things come to mind

    1. People moaning about price. Yes it's not 99p for 10 guys but it's not bank destroying yet, especially if you don't go mad and buy everything ever. Though I am a scuba diver and did partake in photography so maybe that's why I feel that way.

    2. When someone asks for advice on a forum about an army list (e.g what to arm blood claws with) and the reply usually says something like "oh don't take those, they're rubbish. Take these and these and these."

    What grinds my gears... hmm...

The Grey Knight fluff does slightly, but then I can simply ignore that.

People that go into a sulk when something goes wrong. It's usually the same people that get really excited when things go their way.

People that go too far into the character of Orks. Seriously guys, it's good for a bit of a laugh but there is such a thing as dignity.

Back-seat gamers, that is to say those that try to tell you what to do at any and all opportunities.

    With regards,
    Dan.

What grinds my gears is when people don't understand the difference between mandatory and optional rules..

for example.. the necron stormlord guy and his lightning bolts, they're a mandatory rule because they have to happen. so if I forgot to do it then i'd expect to be able to do it when I remember and vice versa if somebody else forgot..

but.. when say,, I forgot to declare I was popping smoke on a vehicle and it got fired at, i'd expect to get laughed at if i said "whoops I popped smoke just forgot to tell you" as I would laugh at someone who tried to do it to me..

    Re: What Grinds your Gears?

A couple of weeks ago, I was playing with my Imperial Guard against a Necron player. One of his barge's Tesla Weapons, I forgot witch one, annihilated a infantry squad. Then he had to roll for the arc thingy, meaning that units within 12" of the target can get hit by rolling a six. He rolled for all my squads, but it didn't do anything. He then proceeded to roll for his unit of immortals that was also within range, while at the same time I got distracted by my mate who was rolling a cigarette, meaning a smoke break was imminent.
So as the Necron player rolled the dice for his Immortals, he loudly proclaimed that they were not hit either, but as fate has it, I turned around at the exact same moment, and saw that the dice he quickly picked up was indeed a six.
I called him on it, and he eventually lost two immortals after I convinced him that I saw everything.

But that is not what grinds my gears, no good sirs, what really grinds my gears is that he still insists he made a mistake when picking up that dice, and that he did not cheat at all. He even went so far as to tell other people his version of the story, witch thankfully is very unbelievable. It's hard to mistake a six for another number, especially on his dice that showed the result very clearly (I could see it from my side of the table!), plus the guilty look in his eyes as I told him I saw the result.

Damn that got under my skin, man.

Also: people who rip on the Nintendo wii because it doesn't play the latest hard core whatever game. It's build for couch multiplayer, with your mates or your family, and that's all I want from it anyway. Not everybody likes to play against strangers online, not everybody likes shooting games.

Perhaps it depends on the army you play. As a nid player, I don't particularly like the idea of paying almost £100 for 6 Hive Guard models.

Playing with someone you know has cheated in the past is always sad.

It's depressing having to watch carefully whenever someone like that rolls a lot of dice, in case he makes a couple more "mistakes".

It sure is, mate. You know you can never trust this person to play a fair game ever again, and that sucks, especially since he convinced himself he did not cheat.

    Re: What Grinds your Gears?

People who don't measure distances properly. Might sound petty but i make sure i'm moving the right amount and get annoyed when people just casually hold the tape measure over the models then move the models 'about 6 inches' forward. Measure your models move and shoot distance properly please and no 12 1/2 inches is still out of rapid fire range no matter how close it looks to you. if the tape measure doesn't reach then deal with it.

When people tell me what colors to paint my models. I don;t care if that's not how they look in the book, it.s how i want to paint them.

WAAC players outside of tourneys still playing like if they lose we're gunna burn down their house or something. If it;s just a friendly game just enjoy yourself.

many other things i'll get to later.

You know what really grinds my gears?

    Having no clutch.....

Also second wave releases, why should GW be able to decide what minis I can buy and when.

The fact I wouldn't be able to afford them anyway until they get released is besides the point.

Perhaps because they're the ones making and selling the things? Inane complaint is inane.

Your comment has made me see the error of my ways. Curse GW for releasing certain models at certain times!

    Re: What Grinds your Gears?

HTC windows 7 that don't post my carefully crafted insane ramblings that I've just sent 30 minutes writing. Thought for the day maybe Steve jobs is a world saving genius?

Any how there's a few things I've been needing to get off my chest,

    1. (and this doesn't just grind my gears it grips my *****) Games-workshop developers writing dross background and I not talking about the heart carving and blood angel/necron love in rubbish penned by Mat Ward which has been mentioned quite adequately by many people. I'm talking about Phil Kelly and his Ulric the Slayer background. Now my fellow fluff Nazis will recall that Ulric the Slayer, in he roll of wolf priest, did in fact recruit and mentor "young" Grimnar. So how pray tell is Ulric now being promoted to wolf priest by Logan Grimnar following the First war for Armageddon? Why has this annoyed me, well what is the point of having the background if some writer who is supposed to be an expert just changes it because he doesn't bother to research his subject. This is a problem because its the fluff that make 40k so appealing and if you don't keep it consistent you end up with a right old of confusion that looses its appeal just like star trek. I was so angry I took my pre-ordered space wolf army, which I had been promising myself when the new book came out, and exchanged it for yet more Guard. which leads me to my next point

    2. Why the Robin Cruddace hate. The Imperial Guard Codex is a masterpiece it allows for the full scope of diversity of the Guard without the use of stupid appendix lists or having to take certain special characters. Don't start with the "I keep having to fight leafblower armies all the time" whine you should have learnt how to deal with that one by now and its still got to be a nice change from having to play against a marine army al the time. Seriously though get the guard book out and have a play around with it some of you will be surprised.

    3. Ork players who don't WAAAAGH. Its a must when using the rule of the same name and should be also be used when winning a particularly bloody assault at the least come on you're playing ORKS for christ sake. Also Ork players no messing around with the crappy wound allocation exploit with nobs mobs, I know the rules say you can but that isn't the ork way shame on you.

Well that's made me feel better I'm off to my local store to buy all the copies of Codex Space Wolves and burn them.

Lately, and I'm not sure why, absolutely everything grinds my gears. I'm going to find a quiet corner to calmly go thermonuclear.

    Re: What Grinds your Gears?

I usually only play with a group of close friend. I've attended two tournaments, and I only played against nice people there. In other words, I haven't played against a scumbag, ever. However, there is one thing that really, truly grinds my gears. People who don't paint their models really piss me off, even more so when they try to excuse themselves, lie about doing it or anything. I hate painting against grey models. I will take a few games against people with unpainted models, but when they keep showing up with them for months, then I won't play them.

    Re: What Grinds your Gears?

My only gripe with GW is their refusal to pdf Warhammer Quest. Seriously, if would take one intern (or me) 1 month to catalogue it all. A 4-page spread in WD as an adv-article showing how it works and they have another outlet to push WFB blisters and boxsets.

This, and a refusal to just sell boxes of Necromunda bulkheads.
