    Deployment
The Ork Warboss ‘Skarjaw’ surveyed the landscape his horde was marching over. It was red, red like blood. There was evidence of a great battle that had taken place there, but had taken place a long time ago. Rotting carcasses of fallen warriors, both heroes and villains, littered as far as the eye could see. Strangely, all of the heads had been removed from the bodies. Skarjaw had a small amount of admiration for who ever had done this. The sheer amount of carnage would have been massive during the battle and there would have been enough heads to make any Ork Warboss happy. But his admiration quickly turned to anger since now he had no one to fight or any heads to collect. In a parody of the bodies that were on the ground there were twisted machine chassis that had been striped and left to decay. The Ork ‘Mek’ ‘Klunk Nutz’ kicked a vehicle chassis strut with his boot. He shared his Warboss’ feelings; firstly the exhilaration of the amount of weapons and ‘mekanical gubbinz’ that would have been here then anger since it was now all out of his reach. While both Ork leaders wallowed in their black mood they failed to notice the flaming commets that were decending from the tortured skies above…

The decent from the battle barge in low orbit to the planet surface was rougher than usual. The skies above the planet were roiling with energy from the Warp. Kronos, the Space Marine ‘Iron Father’, addressed his soldiers over the comms,
“Marines! Planet fall in 6.2 seconds! Trust your wargear! Be steel in your resolve!”
The Space Marines in the army clicked over the comms to signal their acknowledgement of Kronos’ address. Each Marine sat harnessed in perfect ramrod straightness and were as silent as stone. After breaking the cloud line the retro-thrusters on each Drop Pod screamed into life, slowly the hurtling comet of ceremite and plasteel down to survivable speeds. Suddenly there was a bone juddering end to the decent as each of the transports landed on the red ground below. The bolts that held the doors tight during the flight retracted with a loud clunk then there was a hiss as the cabin decompressed. The first wafts of the planetary surface air rushed in. It had a coppery metallic tang to it. The Marines in the Drop Pod wrenched off the harnesses and were on there feet within moments, ready to face what ever enemy maybe outside with Bolters at the ready.

Orks go for a general deployment.

Space Marines hold everything in reserve for a Drop Pod Assault.

    Turn 1
2 Boyz units ran forward to give more space for the units behind. The Nobz ran to get out of difficult terrain. The battle plan was to have a 'general' deployment since the Space Marine forces could land literally anywhere. It was assumed that the Space Marine player would not risk a Deep Strike near the board edge and 'fall off' the edge with a bad scatter roll. It was also assumed that the Space Marine would drop right in front of the Ork battle line in an attempt to get as much flamer use as possible to drop the numbers.

2 Dreadnaughts and 2 Tactical squads (one with Vulcan and the other with the Tech Marine) came screaming down on the right flank in front of the Lootas. The Space Marine player decided to risk the dangers of scatter and crush a single flank. The Lootas and a mob of Boyz evapourated. (Turns out Orks are allergic to twin-linked Flamers and Heavy Flamers).

    Turn 2
Kronos picked out the Ork Warboss from the massive horde his army was fighting with. The Warboss was easy to pick out, he was the biggest and loudest Ork within range of his augmented sensors. He quickly computed a combat algorithm to obtain his probability of success if he fought his monster in close quarters. Within nano-seconds he calculated he had a 62.1% chance of slaying the Warboss. Kronos strode forwards and the Warboss let out an ear deafening roar. Such was the intensity of the roar that specks of spittle went flying from the Warboss’ mouth and all over Kronos’ highly ornate war plate. With the precision and cold efficiency of a computer program Kronos sliced the Warboss across the throat and the deafening roar was silenced immediately. The Ork leader had a mixed look of confusion and anger at not being able to make his voice heard. While in this state of confusion Kronos followed his attack again and again until finally the Warboss’ head was free its neck.

The Orks decide to return the favor of loosing their kind by charging the Space Marines. The Nobz charged a Dreadnaught, the Warboss and a Boyz squad charge Vulcan and a Space Marine squad and another Boyz mob charge a Space Marine squad.

Vulcan sucessfully kills the Warboss, the Dreadnaught has it's CCW ripped off and the Space Marine squad is destroyed.

    Turn 3
The Space Marines manage to call down another 2 Tactical squads and another Dreadnaught. More Orks disappear. Very quickly disappear.

    Turn 4
The Orks try to scratch up some kill points by killing the Drop Pods and making desparate charges to the Space Marines.

    Turn 5 and 6
The Space Marines form a static fire base and manage to wipe out everything in the Ork army.

    Victory to the Space Marines!

Re: WAAAGH!!! of The Big Noiz Boyz!

1750 Da Big Noiz Boyz vs The Steel Talons

Mission: Sieze Ground (5 objectives, shown as green markers)
    Deployment: Spearhead
Roll off: Necrons will roll off and nominate Orks to go first

    Preamble:
The Necron player has an ‘assault based’ army. The army ‘tactic’ is for Wraiths to move quickly around the field thanks to their ‘move through terrain’ rule and overwhelm an opponent position. The Destroyer Body Lords will lend their Res Orb WWB rolls to where the fighting is thickest and is needed the most, usually where the Wraiths are. The Flayed ones will out-flank and overwhelm any static heavy weapons in the opponent deployment.

    Orks
Warboss 'Skarjaw Ironklaw', Power Klaw, Attack Squig, Boss Pole, 'Eavy Armor, Cybork body [120]
Big Mek 'Klunk Nutz', Kustom Force Field, Burna [105]
    11 Lootas [165]
    8 Nobs, WAAAGH! Banner, 2 x Power Klaw [225]
25 Shoota Boyz, Nob, Power Klaw, Boss Pole [190]
25 Shoota Boyz, Nob, Power Klaw, Boss Pole [190]
25 Shoota Boyz, Nob, Power Klaw, Boss Pole [190]
25 Shoota Boyz, Nob, Power Klaw, Boss Pole [190]
3 Deff Koptas, Twin Linked Rokkits [135]
3 Killa Kans, Big Shoota [120]
3 Killa Kans, Big Shoota [120]

    Necrons
Lord, Destroyer Body, Res Orb, Phalactory
Lord, Destroyer Body, Res Orb, Phalactory
    10 Flayed Ones
    10 Flayed Ones
    10 Flayed Ones
    12 Warriors
    13 Warriors
    3 Wraiths
    3 Wraiths
    3 Wraiths

    Deployment
Orks go for a ‘general deployment’. The Killa Kans deploy front and centre with the Big Mek joining a Boyz unit close behind. Boyz are deployed as close as possible to the front with the Warboss going on the left flank. Lootas take a high position on the right hand flank with the Nobs close by as a counter assault unit. The Deff Koptas take the left flank. Note, the Orks already hold an objective in the small red crater that is just visible.

Necrons take a defensive stance with the 2 blocks of Warriors taking a static fire base. The Lords join a unit of Wraiths each and are as far forward as possible with the Warriors. The third unit of Wraiths and Flayed Ones float around an objective each. 2 units of Flayed Ones are held in reserve.

    Turn 1
Orks move forward to capture ground. Lootas and Killa Kans fail to wound anything.

Flayed Ones move forward to cover the Ork left flank. The Wraiths near the objective and a Lord/ Wrait unit move to the Orks left flank. The second Lord/ Wraiths moves to the Ork right flank. The Warriors knock a CCW from one of the Killa Kans.

    Turn 2
Orks move forward again and start to move towards objectives. Lootas and Killa Kans manage to weaken some Necron units.

Warriors manage to knock another Killa Kan CCW off and destroy another. Both Lord/ Wraith units assault both of the Ork flanks. The Orks manage to repel them through shear number of low strength attacks. Both reserve units of Flayed Ones out-flank on the Ork right side and totally wipe out the Lootas.

    Turn 3
Killa Kans move forward and assault the stationary Warrior squads. Nobs and an Ork Boyz squad assault the recently out-flanking Flayed Ones. The Ork Boyz squads manage to crush and hold the left flank.

None of the Wraiths pass the WBB roll. The Lord manages to get up and moves towards the Killa Kans to support the Warriors.

    Turn 4
Boyz units mop up the Flayed Ones on the left flank and move closer to the objectives.

Necrons reach Phase Out number and disappear.

    Victory to the Orks!

    Turn 1
Raider and Ravager move forward. Archon jumps off the Raider and drops the Webway Portal. Raider kills a few Boyz.

    Mission: Capture and Control
    Deployment: Dawn of War
Roll off: Orks win roll off and nominate to go first

Preamble: This really was a game of a ‘horde’ crashing against a small elite force; the Orks outnumbered the Death Wing more than 5 to 1. We had to end the game on turn 5 because GW was kicking us out due to closing time.

Land Speeder, Typhoon Rocket Launchers, Heavy Bolter

    Deployment
The massive green brute moved with grim purpose through his war camp. His iron shod boots churned up the grass as he strode forwards. The smaller Orks of the camp ceased their activities and scrambled out of the way as the Warboss ‘Skarjaw’ walked through. The horde had seen enough times that an Ork foolish enough to receive the wrong end of the Skarjaw’s temper usually ended up with their head torn off. Skarjaw walked toward the workshop area of his camp. As he approached he witnessed grots running around with tools and machinery parts, the smell of burnt metal and dirty oil and the sound of metal being hammered on by metal. This was where his second in command, the Ork ‘Mek’ known as ‘Klunk Nutz’ would be toiling away with his machines.
“Oi! Klunk! Youz ‘ere?!” bellowed Skarjaw.
The hammering sound stopped. “Yeah, Boss,” came the reply behind a crude looking robot.
    “Iz da Kanz ready?”
“Almost, Boss. Just makin’ da final adjustmentz.” There was one last loud hammer sound then Klunk walked out from behind the ‘Kan’ wiping his dirty hands on an equally dirty rag. As he walked the tools strapped to his body made a ‘tink’ sound.
“Good. Da flyin’ gitz sayz dere’z a ‘umie town near ‘ere. We’z gonna give’em a good stompin’. An’ afta dat, I want dere gunz and I wantz dere ‘eads. Youz can haz da mekanical gubbinz wez find. Got it?”
    “Yeah, Boss”.
Skarjaw turned around and looked out over his motley war band of Orks, flexing his power klaw. He had a feeling of arrogance that came with commanding such a large number of warriors. He grinned as he started to round up his troops and thought to himself, “Yeah, we iz gonna give doze ‘umies a good stompin’. Hur hur hur…”

Belial was in the command room of his flag ship which was hanging in low orbit above an Imperial agricultural planet. The room was dimly lit and several braziers hung from a ceiling that was too far away to see from the darkness. He was wearing a simple grey coloured tunic with hood which threw a menacing shadow over his eyes, hiding them from sight. Five others were in the room and were similarly dressed. Before the group of Space Marines was a hologram projection of the world below. An angry red spot blemished the otherwise unspoiled emerald green of the hologram.
“Orks,” sneered one of Belial’s veterans, breaking the intimidating silence.
“The local sector needs the resources this planet produces. If the Orks gain a footing on this planet then not only will the local populace suffer, but the infrastructure of the surrounding planets will be crippled,” commented another veteran.
Belial touched a part of the hologram and it zoomed in on the alien encampment. It showed Orks of all shapes and sizes going about their simple minded business; squabbling, stealing, bullying, showing off and other such base activities a thuggish army would indulge in.
“Xeno filth,” spat the first veteran who spoke.
The image shifted to show the Ork Warboss, a much bigger and uglier Ork than the others previously seen. He was bellowing at another large Ork who was tending to some crude looking machinery. The second Ork in the image had odd looking mechanical body ‘enhancements’ and he nodded at the Warboss.
“What is our course of action?”
There was a long pause before Belial spoke, “We will strike”. The warriors gathered bowed their heads towards Belial knowing the decision to strike was not made lightly.

Orks hold everything in reserve. This was done in order to ensure that the Orks hit it was not in a ‘piece meal’ fashion. The trade off was having to walk across the board while being shot at.

Death Wing hold everything in reserve.

    Turn 1
The Orks trudged forward, their numbers so great that the pounding of their feet was enough to cause the earth to shake. An Ork Boy looked towards the ruined Imperial settlement before them.
”Where’z da ‘umies at? Youz sed dere waz gonna be ‘umies for us ta stomp! Dere’s no ‘umies ‘ere, dis place iz already stomped!” complained an Ork Boy. Skarjaw rounded on the Ork and raised his power klaw to ‘discipline’ him for speaking out of turn. Just as he was about to strike the sound of an air craft went screaming above them. All of the Ork heads turned to see a bone coloured Thunderhawk zooming over head and land in the distance beyond the human settlement ruins. Skarjaw was pleased with this turn of events. After dealing with the outspoken Ork he was going to also ‘discipline’ his Deff Kopta crew for giving him bad information. But the appearance of a Thunderhawk air craft meant one thing: he was going to see a decent fight after all.

During the flight on the Thunderhawk transport down to the planet surface the Death Wing were offering prayers to the machine spirits of their armor and weapons for the on-coming battle. The deployment was going to be extremely rapid once the Space Marines hit the ground and Belial gave out the mission details over the comms.
“We are the first and last line of defense this world will see. We cannot be reinforced by the Imperial Guard for months so we must be victorious today. We must.” Belial paused for several moments to let the weight of his words sink into the minds of his men. “Our scans reveal the Orks are heading towards a ruined farm settlement. That is where we will make a strong point to meet the horde advancement head on. If we can break the back of their charge the Orks will be easier to exterminate.” Before the transport made its final decent Belial gave his Terminator soldiers one last comment on a separate channel, “Their numbers may be great, but nothing is greater than the burden from our past. Remember that as you meet the enemy this day”.

The Lootas are placed in a ruin approximately in the centre of the deployment zone. They have LOS and range to the entire field. Killa Kans go front and centre with the Big Mek behind. The Warboss joins the Nobs and also take cover behind the Kan wall. Deff Koptas go on the right flank take cover. The Boyz units flank each side of the Big Mek and Warboss. Everything moves and runs as far forward as possible.

The Vindicator, Venerable Dreadnaughts and 2 Terminator squads take front and centre. The Land Speeders take right flank while Belial and the Command squad take the left flank.

    Turn 2
An Ork Boy looked upon the Death Wing Terminators with curiosity and commented on the colour of their armor. ”Hey, dem ‘umies look like big teef! If a few teef can get me a bit ‘o fungus beer, I bet one of dem would get me a whole heap ‘o fungus beer! An’ maybe a new Shoota! An’ maybe even a…” The wild imagination of the Boy was quickly silenced by his Nob leader with a quick backhand from his pistol.
“Shut it, you git! We’z got a fight happenin’! Do ya dreamin’ some otha’ time!”
“S-Sure, boss,” the Boyz stammered through his daze after being struck.
“An’ don’t even think of gettin’ to those teef coloured ‘umies, ‘cause I’m getting them!”

The Dark Angel Vindicator tank rumbled forward, its heavy tracks sinking into the fertile earth and ruining the lush grass underneath.
“Enemy sighted. Belial was right, we are exactly where the Xenos will hit hardest,” commented the Vindicator tank pilot.
“What range?” asked the tank gunner.
“Too far for the cannon. Sensors indicate the enemy is at least…”
THUD! The pilots reply was cut short by the heavy side impacts on the vehicle hull.
    “Contact! Left side!”
“Where did those shots come from?”
“Ork jet bikes,” came the reply from a Terminator Veteran. “We will handle. Squad, fire at will!”
“We are 98.7% functional. There is mild armor damage. The Machine Spirit is still…”
Thump! Thump! Thump! Again the reply was cut short.
    “What is happening out there?”
“Ork heavy weapons. Neutralising.” The voice was deep and mechanical. It was the Death Wing Venerable Dreadnaught. The sound of an energy build up and discharge was heard shortly followed by the sound of screaming Orks.
    “Are we functional?”
“Our left tread has sustained major damage. We are immobile,” advised the tank pilot.
    “Damnation!” cursed the tank gunner.

The entire army (other than the Lootas) moves forward. The Deff Koptas scream forward and hit the Vindicator on the side armor but fail to damage it. The Lootas manage to Immobilse the Vindicator.

The Land Speeders rend massive holes in the left flank of the Orks. The Cyclone Missile Launchers manage to blow the Deff Koptas out of the sky and destroy one Killa Kan. The Dreadnaughts fire their Plasma Cannons into the centre of the Horde and manage to kill some Ork Boyz but fail to damage the Killa Kans.

    Turn 3
Skarjaw witnessed his war horde charging towards the Space Marines from a small rock outcrop. He held up a hand to signal his Nob bodyguard to stop their advance. His years of being Warboss gave him a low, but potent, level of cunning about warfare. He considered carefully the distances as his army closed in on the enemy lines. When he thought the time was right he drew in a deep breath and bellowed out,”WAAAGH!!!” So loud and intense was the war cry that the Orks nearby felt energised by the shout and started bellowing as well, “WAAAGH!” Within seconds the energy levels of the Ork advancement exponentiated from a trudge to a blood frenzied charge that only the rush of violence could sate.

Belial studied the advance of the Orks towards the position of he and the men in his squad. Having fought the Ork many times before and the data transfer from the memory cogitators during his induction as a Space Marine he knew what was coming when the Ork Warboss bellowed. The Death Wing in their stone resolve did not cry out or have an empowering speech to boost morale to accept the oncoming charge. There simply was no need, they had a job to complete and it would be completed. Belial and his man changed their stance from a firing position to one ready to accept the oncoming Ork Mob charge. He gritted his teeth and drew a righteous hatred to the fore of his mind to fuel his body.

Lootas down a Land Speeder. The Killa Kans manage to stop the other Land Speeders from firing next turn. An Ork Mob assaults Belial and his unit, but fail to wound the Terminators. Another Ork Mob manage to charge another squad of Terminators and manage to wound a few of them winning combat.

Terminators, Dreadnaught and Vindicator blast the Ork Boyz infront of them. A Venerable Dreadnaught charges the Killa Kans but results in a drawn combat. Belial and squad manage to break the Ork Mob. The Orks manage to wipe out the wounded Terminator squad and move behind the Terminator lines towards the immobilized Vindicator. Belial and squad manage to break the Ork Mob that assaulted them.

    Turn 4 and 5
    ”Dey’z too tough! We’z can’t take’em!” shouted an Ork.
“Letz get outta ‘ere!” shouted another. With that the Orks started to retreat.
Belial was swift enough with his Lightning Claws to decapitate one last Ork before they managed to flee. Due to his ornate but heavy Terminator armor he was unable to chase down the fleeing Orks. In his frustration he stomped on the head of the Ork he had just cut off. Ork brain matter and gore exploded over his boot. He for a brief moment allowed himself to picture shooting down the fleeing Orks with his Storm Bolter. As he and his squad were assessing the damage they took in the thick of the melee there was a distress signal over the comms.
“Belial. Facing heav… resistance. Req… assistance. The Orks…” The message was cut shot with a grunt of pain then radio static.
“Acknowledged. We are arriving presently,” replied Belial as he turned on the spot and ran towards where the request for help came from. There was a small forrest between Belial and the place where the request for help was made. The trees provided little resistance to the might of the Terminator armor. As Belial emerged from the forrest there was a great explosion on his right. The Dark Angel Vindicator tank had been destroyed. The filthy Xenos had managed to attack a volatile spot on the armor. Due to their proximity to the tank when it exploded the Orks were now strewn around the crater where the tank once was. Belial cursed under his breath, there was nothing he could do about it now. Surveying the situation he saw his forces were dwindling quickly despite having caused significant casualties to the Ork horde. Having to make a snap decision he charged the closest Ork unit that was battling the remaining Venerable Dreadnaught. He knew that this day was lost, but he would be damned if he was going to let these filthy aliens taint this world without one last effort.

Orks manage to kill the Venerable Dreadnaught in their lines. An Ork Mob manages to assault the stationary Vindicator and slag it. The remaining Venerable Dread is assaulted and is Immobilised. One of the Terminator squads is charged by 2 Ork Mobs and is destroyed.

Belial and his squad rush to join in the combat near the middle of the board.

Victory to the Orks! 9 Kill points to 2!!!

    Deployment
“We see the enemy. And they are many,” commented the Devestator Sergeant looking through a scope. He and his heavy weapon squad were taking cover in a cluster of rocks.
“Weapons at the ready,” dutifully replied a Rocket Launcher wielding Marine. The Sergeant gave a brief nod to the Marine who spoke. The sight of the incoming Orks meant that the Stonebreakers battle was about to commence. The Sergeant opened a channel to the Battle Barge “Stoneherst” which was hanging in orbit above the Marines position on the surface below.
“Greenskins sighted. Approximate 2 minutes before they are in range.”
“Acknowledged. Preparing for drop,” came the reply, then the channel was closed. The Sergeant glanced again through his scope before leading his squad of Rocket Launcher armed Marines through their final prayers to the machine spirits of their war gear.
Meanwhile in the dispatch bays on the Stoneherst a squad of verteran Marines were kneeling before 2 of the Chapters most famous heros: Master Samas, known as “The Oathtaker” and Master Praetus. Samas was holding the hallowed Chapter relic “Grudge-bearer”, a massive hammer with ornate scripture and intricate detail. The fineries on the weapon belayed how truly powerful and terrible it was when used in combat. Praetus addressed the kneeling veteran Marines.
“You are the finest soldiers this Chapter can produce. Each of you have been selected for this mission for your courage, skill and devotion to the Chapter. Now, those very attributes I mentioned are needed as we face the green tide this day.” Praetus paused in his address and indicated for the veteran Marines to place a hand on Grudge-bearer. “Do you swear to give your utmost in battle, to give your heart mind and soul to achieve victory, to protect your brother as your brother protects you and to see this mission through or die trying?”
“I swear,” came the reply from the gathered Veterans. Praetus looked towards Samas whom nodded.
“Your oath to the Chapter has been witnessed.” Now that the ceremony was finished Master Praetus smiled, “Now, to the Drop Pod. We do not want to keep our brothers on the ground waiting!”

The Ork Warboss ‘Skarjaw’ ordered his unruly horde of warriors to a halt. They had finally arrived to the spot where he wanted to establish his new base of operations or “War Kamp”. The second in command, Big Mek ‘Klunk Nutz’ limped up level with Skarjaw. The feature Skarjaw was most interested in was the tall green tower that stood taller than any else in the local area.
“Dis is where I wantz me new kamp,” stated the Warboss to his second in command. He pointed a twisted ‘finger’ of his Power Klaw to the tower. “Datz gonna make a good monument ta Gork and Mork.”
“’Ey, Boss…” interrupted Klunk Nutz, looking at something in the distance.
“An’ I wantz dere to be lots a gunz!” continued the Skarjaw.
    “’Ey, Boss!” repeated Klunk Nutz.
“An’ I wantz a WAAAGH!!! banner dats big enough fa ev’ryone ta see!”
    “’Ey, Boss!!”
“WOT IZ IT?!” bellowed the Warboss rounding on the Mek, intimidating him with his massive size and strength.
“Dere’s some ‘umies ova dere,” replied Klunk Nutz, pointing to the small Marine formation in the distance. Skarjaw shoved the smaller Ork out of the way and squinted to see.
“So dere iz!” realised the Warboss. “Right, Boyz! Ya first job is ta kill doez ‘umies! Bring me dere ‘heads! WAAAGH!!!”
As the Orks blindly marched off with guns blazing towards the Marine lines, Skarjaw could not help but think there was no better way to establish his new kamp than with the fresh blood and heads of an enemy army.

Space Marines place the Vindicator and Devestators on top of their objective in the middle of their deployment zone. Thunderfire cannon takes position behind ruins. A Tactical squad guards both flanks of the deployment. Note that the Tactical squad with the Drop Pod have deployed on the table and their Drop Pod is being held in reserve. This was done so the Dreadnaught and the Sternguard squad can come down on first turn (as per the Drop Pod Assault rules).

Orks deploy with Killa Kans (KK) front and centre with Big Mek and KFF granting cover saves. The Warboss and Nobs take cover behind the KKs. The Boyz mobs take position on either side of the KKs with the Deff Koptas (DK) and the Lootas behind the hordes.

    Turn 1
The Techmarine stroked the cowling of his cannon as if it were his favorite pet. “Ready to unleash fire and cleanse the battlefield once more, old friend?” he asked the fearsome war machine while pressing programming studs on the controller. As if in reply to its master, the servo motors of the cannon whined, then finally made a clunk noise as the shell was loaded into the firing chamber. “I’ll take that as a ‘yes’,” chuckled the Marine. His musings were interrupted by an incoming transmission over the comms.
“Techmarine! We need support, now! They are approaching!” exclaimed the Devestator Sergeant.
“Brother! You cannot hurry the Machine Spirit! Your support is coming in 2.8 seconds,“ retorted the Techmarine, annoyance clear in his voice. How dare someone else demand his precious machine to hurry up? But then this is how it always was, no one else but him truly understood how the machine felt. While the Techmarine was fuming at his brothers ignorance there was an earth juddering rumble as a small firestorm was unleashed in the ranks incoming horde.

Orks were being slaughtered en masse on an advancing flank. The Veteran Marines and revered Dreadnaught had done their job well; rapid insertion into a hostile area by Drop Pod and terminate anything that was not human with extreme prejudice. But for all their valiant efforts a few stragglers remained.
“Boyz! Git up! Git up ya sissies! Git into ‘em” snorted the Ork Nob. As the smoke cleared from the incoming fire he had a pang of fear. There were two things an Ork understood in war, the number of Orks in his mob needed to be bigger than the enemy and ‘Orkz iz da best!’. Looking towards the enemy he had a choice, either attack the single Dreadnaught or the squad of Marines. He made his choice and started head long towards the towering machine. Seeing their leader run towards the Dreadnaught they absently mindedly followed.
“Why iz we attackin’ da big one?” asked a terrified Ork.
“Stoopid! Dere’z more of us dan dere iz of dem! We’z gonna bash ‘im good! Fink about it, ya idjit!” replied the Ork Nob using his Ork ‘logik’.
“Oh, dat makes sense… I fink” said the Ork trying to process the logik what his mob leader had said.
“WAAAGH!!!” bellowed the Nob as he charged the Dreadnaught.
The few remaining Orks surrounded the tremendous goliath constructed of plasteel and vengence. Their attacks were all futile, doing nothing more than scratching the surface with their crude grubby shooting weapons. The Ork Nob however was more than able to tear into the armored bulk with his Power Klaw. After a few moments and lucky strikes from the Nob, the Dreadnaught was no longer able to function.
“See? I toldz ya we could take da mob dat was fewer dan us!”
“Youz iz smart, boss!” seconded the Ork.

Devestators pour Krak rockets into the KKs and down 2 of them. Vindicator tries to fire but is out of range. The Thunderfire cannon (TFC) punches a hole in the horde of Boyz. Note, the Marine player used the rounds that ignore cover. The KFF gives a cover save and shooting through a unit also gives a cover save. My Boyz were in trouble!!! The Sternguard and a Dreadnaught come screaming down the Ork flank and manage to whittle down a Boyz unit to 5 models.

The lone KK and Boyz units near the KK move up the board and attempt to run. The Boyz mob on the left more and fire upon the Space Marines Tactical squad but fail to wound. The Lootas fail to wound anything. The DKs fail to wound anything. The full KK squad, damaged Boyz unit and the Warboss with Nobs move closer to the Dreadnaught and the Sternguard unit. The damaged Boyz assault the Dread and manage to destroy it. Seeing that the Warboss with Nobs are not in charge range of the Sternguard unit, the mob that destroyed the Dreadnaught move between the Warboss with Nobs and the Sternguard with Lysander.

    Turn 2
The Devestator Sergeant wanted to chastise the aloof machine adept for his attitude when addressing a senior rank. Just as he was about to open the comms there was a sudden bright flash in the distance. It was the requested fire support from the Techmarine. The sudden brightness unleashed in oncoming the Ork horde was intense, even for a Space Marine enhanced ocular capabilities. It took only moments for his vision to adjust and what he saw next made him grit his teeth in annoyance. The incendiary round had destroyed a score of Orks, but the momentum of their charge was undiminished.
“Devestators! Unleash fury unto their filthy hides!”
“Yes, Sergeant” replied the entire squad in unison.

“Wot are doez gitz doin’?” grunted one of the Warboss’s bodyguard. Skarjaw looked over at the Boyz mob that was shot up by the Marine Veterans and now charging the Marine Dreadnaught.
“Not gettin’ in ma way, datz wot.”
Skarjaw was happy with this turn of events. He noticed when the Sternguard unit landed they unleashed their full fury into the Ork mob and managed to kill a score of the Boyz. To his simple mind this translated to the unit being dangerous and therefore worth his attention. It was part of his role on the battlefield as an Ork Warboss to find the most dangerous enemies and slay them as a show of his strength and hence right to be Warboss of his horde.
“Right, ya bunch of grot humpas! We’z gonna bash doez onez!” ordered Skarjaw pointing to the Veteran Marines. “WAAAGH!!!”

Devestators pour Frag rounds into the advancing Boyz. Similarly the TFC punches a massive hole in the number of Boyz. The Vindicator scatters and fails to cause any read damage. Lysander leaves the Sternguard unit. The Sternguard fire upon the Nobs and score some wounds. Lysander assaults the small mob infront of him and smashes them aside. He then consolidates towards the KKs.

All Ork units advance. The DKs manage to stun the shooting Dread. The Boyz on the left flank manage to wound some Tactical Marines. The Lootas knock down some Devestators. The KKs near Lysander move back and attempt to hose him down, but fail to wound him. The Warboss and Nobs charge the Sternguard and manage to kill most of them, except for Kantor and 2 Sternguard.

    Turn 3
The Veteran Marines changed their stance to accept the charge from the incoming green brutes. Their drawn combat knives and attitudes both razor sharp and cold as ice.
“We can handle this, go!” said Praetus to Samas over the comms. Samas cast a glance over to his fellow brother and nodded in agreement. He quickly cast a glance over the battlefield and saw 3 crude looking robots stumbling awkwardly towards their position. Experience told him that the squad could handle themselves against the Warboss and his bodyguard, but it would not handle a charge from these mechanical abnormalities. With this new set of events set in his mind, he knew what his next course of battle was and strode towards purposefully towards the Ork ‘Killa Kans’. For a moment the Killa Kans seemed to cower at his implacable advance and let out a hail of small arms fire, most of which wildly shot off into the distance. The few that did score hits on Samas did little than patter harmlessly off his armor. As the Marine hero closed the distance there was a sound like a metallic clap of thunder and one of the Killa Kans was turned into flying pieces of flaming scrap. He smiled as his faithful weapon Grudge-bearer had not dulled in potency within its centuries of service to the Chapter. Samas knew that these filthy alien mechanical abominations stood no chance before his might and will.

Flying high above the ground, the Ork ‘Deff Koptas’ watched the ebb and flow of battle below. As they were arguing about which target to shoot next a high pitched whistling noise screamed past their shaking crude flying machines.
“Wot in Gork waz dat?!” yelled an Ork pilot.
    “Youz mean ‘Wot in Mork?’!”
“Shut it, ya gitz! It waz dat fing ova dere!” said the thirst pilot while pointing at the Techmarine and his cannon.
The flying Orks watched as a fire storm erupted in the advancing green horde, burning many of their kin alive.
“Hah! Ya bunch a loserz!” laughed the first Ork at his unfortunate ground based comrades.
“’Ey, we’z need ta kill dat fing!”
“Why? Itz fun ta watch da Boyz getting’ burn’d! Hah!”
“Stoopid! If wez don’t kill dat fing then dere ain’t gonna be enough Boyz ta take da ‘umies!” With that being said it was clear, even to an Ork, what their next priority target should be. As one, the Deff Kopta mob nose dived towards the position of the Techmarine.

The Vindicator, Frag rounds and TFC blows a hole in the Ork horde. Lysander assaults the KKs, exploding, destroying and un-harming one each. Kantor and the Sternguard are wiped out.

The Orks advance finally reaching combat. The DKs snap the TFC and assault the Techmarine, but fail to wound him. The Boyz assault the Tactical squad on the flank and manage to wipe them out.

    Turns 4 and 5
Samas was breathing heavily after he finished destroying the last Ork Killa Kan. The remains of the crude robots sparked and caught fire, letting out a grubby black smoke into the air. He walked forward and kicked aside the parts of broken Ork machinery with extreme contempt. The pieces of wreckage went flying across the battlefield and landed several meters away. Just as Samas was clear of the debris of his handiwork he was met with a splattering of heavy caliber rounds which forced him to check his footing. Recovering his composition he scanned the area for where the shots came from and immediately saw the Ork heavy weapons mob a short distance away. Warning runes were flashing in his helmets display indicating that several shots had penetrated his near tank like armor. Samas ignored the warning runes and dismissed them just as the neuro-stabilisers went to work to remove the pain incurred from his injuries. One of the Orks lowered his weapon to admire the carnage he and his ilk had wrought on the unfortunate victim. While an ordinary human, or even a super human Marine, would have been killed and torn into pieces due to the high caliber shots, Samas was no ordinary Marine. Not only was his fortitude legendary amongst his Chapter, but he was also clad in one of the most highly protective suits of armor the Stonebreakers had ever forged. The Ork who lowered his weapon was dumbstruck to see that the “’umie’” still stood, let alone advanced. A wave of panic swept over the Orks as they started to fire wildly at the advancing Marine.

Skarjaw examined a helmet he twisted off one the slain Marine Veterans and let out a harsh snort.
“Dez ain’t no good ta me! I’z already gotz a bunch a grey ‘elmets!” exclaimed the Warboss in anger. He threw the helmet back at the body it came from. The one remaining Ork Nob bodyguard started to pick up the helmet his leader discarded.
“Don’t youz be touchin’ dat! Datz mine!”
“But youz just said…” The Warboss backhanded the Nob for back chatting him.
“I’z said it waz mine, SO IT’Z MINE!”
    “Y-Yes, boss…”
Skarjaw looked out over to where the bulk of his forces were trying to dislodge some entrenched Marines. His great horde had been thinned down to only a handful and most of his war machines were now in ruin. He was angry that the attack had drained most of his army and its vehicles, but he at least had the satisfaction of knowing that the tower he wanted was his. With his prize his plans for his new base of operations could commence and once it was established a new horde of Orks would flock to his command.

Lysander comes towards the Lootas (loosing 2 wounds from their shooting) and wipes them out. The Techmarine is killed by the Ork Boyz unit near by.

The remaining Boyz units make a scramble to slag the Dread, kill the remaining Devestator Marines and try to sit on the objective. The Dread is killed, but the Devestators would not die. The Orks fail to reach the objective. The Warboss and Nob split up and manage to slag a Drop Pod each (for the fun of it).

The game ends on the roll of a 2!

    It’s a draw!

Re: WAAAGH!!! of The Big Noiz Boyz!

A note to those who read my battle reports:

Firstly, a big thanks for reading! And thanks for the previous positive comments in my previous threads!

I would like to say that I have closed the previous battle report threads and have decided to consolidate all of my battle reports into a single thread (this one). It makes referencing the battles a lot easier for the opponents I play and who want to read about our game. And it's always nice to see someone plugging their army on a battle report!

Thanks again for the support! More battle reports to be coming soon!

Because Big Shootas are cheap. Admittedly Grotzookas are fantastic, but they they are expensive. I wanted to keep everything in the army cheap and weak, numbers over quality.

Actually, I was thinking of dropping the Deff Koptas and adding in a Deff Dread. That would be the centre piece for the army and the heart of the 'kan wall'.

    Deployment
The Ork Warboss ‘Skarjaw’ was angry. He and his army had not seen any fighting in a while and tempers were fraying. Ever since being driven from the Ataibian sector by the Oathtakers Chapter of Space Marines, Da Big Noiz Boyz had been trying to return to their former strength and glory. Skarjaw also had made ‘changez’ to his army in an attempt, he believed, that would make it more affective. He had given his second in command, the Ork ‘Mek’ ‘Klunk Nutz’, enough scavenged mechanical junk from destroyed Imperial farm settlements for a new weapon, the fearsome Ork Deff Dread. He was now inspecting Klunk’s fleet of machines.
“Klunk, iz da new Dread ready?”
“Yeah, Boss. Just makin’ sure da pilot is ready…”
“Hur hur! We’ll see who’z pushin’ who ‘round now!” chuckled the Deff Dread pilot, marveling at his new war construct.
Skarjaw quickly marched up to the front of the Dread and stared the towering metal monstrosity right in the face plate. Despite the fact that the Dread was nearly 3 times taller than the Warboss, he still managed to make the Dread pilot cower slightly.
“I’m pushin’ ya round. Got a problem wif dat?”
“Uh, no, Boss! Y-you’z da boss!” stammered the Dread pilot.
“Datz what I fought. Youz may ‘ave a new body, but don’t fink I can’t tear you outta dere and…”
“Boss! Boss!” screamed an Ork Boy as he scrambled towards Skarjaw.
    “Piss off! I’m busy ‘ere!”
“We’z found somefing. Somefing strange! Somefing we’z fink you should ‘ave a look at!”
“Dis had better be important. ‘Cuz if it ain’t…”
“It iz, Boss! We’z found dis little floaty squishy round fings and den one of ‘em just… popped.”
“Yeah?” replied Skarjaw, “And?” He was raising his Power Klaw to tear the head off the Ork for wasting his time.
“Well, Boss… Some kinda stuff came out and it killed a couple of our Boyz!”
Just as Skawjaw was about to bring his mighty weapon down on the Ork he tilted his head and considered what the Ork had reported.
“Hurrrr, ‘floaty squishy round fings’ ya said?”
    “Uh, yeah, Boss”
“Dis may be a good fing,” said the Warboss while nodding slowly. “Klunk, get da klankers ready. I fink we’z soon gonna see some action!”

    Orks hold everything in reserve.

Tyranids deploy the Gaunts, Hive Tyrant and Guard as far forward as possible. The Spore Mines are deployed deep into the Ork deployment zone. Everything else is held in reserve.

    Turn 1
“See, Boss? Deez are da fings I told ya ‘bout!” yelled the Ork pointing at the Tyranid Spore Mine. He kept a safe distance from it remembering what happened to his comrades moments earlier.
“Huh… I’ve seen dez fings before” said the Warboss with a knowing nod. “Dey’ll be comin’ soon”
    “Who’ll be comin’?”
    “Da bugz”
“Da bugz?” questioned the Ork Boy. Without even looking, Skarjaw backhanded the Ork for asking what he thought was an annoying question and sent him tumbling into his mob.
“Yeah, da bugz,” answered Skarjaw to no one in particular. “Klunk, bring da klankers up! Front ‘n centre!”
    “Sure, Boss.”
The Ork mechanical constructs lumbered up to the front of the advancing green horde, belching black smoke and on crude overworked pistons. As they reached Skarjaw’s position, there was an ear piercing ‘SKREEE’ noise approaching the Orks advancement.
“’Ere dey come!” bellowed Skarjaw to his army. “Git ya’ selves ready!”

Lootas move up ahead of the rest of the Boyz and Kans on the left flank. There is a big push of Kans, Dread, HQ, Nobs and Boyz up the centre. 2 Squads of Boyz take the right flank.

Gaunts scream up, assault the Lootas and run them down. The Ravenors and Zoanthraps move their full disrance forward. The Hive Tyrant and Guard hide behind cover.

    Turn 2

“Dez Bugz are easy ta kill. Dey’s is soft ‘n squishy. Not a real fight for da Boyz!” sneered an Ork Nob after seeing a Boyz mob crush the remaining Gaunt brood that rushed towards them in the opening volley of the battle.
Skarjaw surveyed the tide of the battle. Something wasn’t ‘right’.
“Dere should be more ov ‘em. An’ why is da big one holdin’ back behind dat rock like a squig humpa?” he wondered out aloud.
Without warning, the rust red coloured dirt swam with movement near the flank of an Ork Boyz unit. Genestealers burst forth from their hiding place, prepared months in advance of the main Tyranid fleet. They had waited in near suspended animation, their vital signs dropping below that of a death like state. Here they had been waiting. Waiting for the signal to strike. Their powerful limbs and lightning reflexes quickly saw them rush through the cloud of dust like visions of nightmares screaming forward from a cloud of dreams. The Ork mob were hopelessly unaware of their presence until it was far too late. The ill fated Ork mob was torn to shreds within moments.
“Ah, datz more like it!” roared Skarjaw with smugness after seeing a mob of his army be overrun by the vile aliens. He HAD been right, there was something amiss about the battle. “De’z been waitin’ in ambush! Hah! And ‘ere I fought it was gonna be a dull fight! Right, Boyz! Time to start givin’ it back! WAAAGH!!!”

Ork Boyz on the left flank shoot and assault the Gaunts and overwhelm them. Everything else pushes forward.

Two squads of Genestealers outflank and crush the right flank and tear through the Boyz. The Carnifexes move up and attempt to shoot. The Ravenors close in on the right Ork flank with the Genetealers. Zonethroaps also move forward.

    Turn 3

The Ork Boyz mob next to the first ill fated mob were ready for the charge of the Genestealers. The screams of their comrades in the recent death struggle were warning enough for any Ork.
“Right, Boyz! Remember! Keep firin’ till either they drop… or you do! WAAAGH!!!” bellowed the Ork Nob to his mob as they strode forward to meet the threat. Genestealers for all their lethality in close quarters combat are relatively fragile when not in cover. They were quickly cut down by the Orks small arms fire, their limbs, bodies and heads exploding in small showers of alien blood and body parts.
“Watch’em ‘xplode! Har! Dakka dakka dakka!” squeeled an Ork Boy in excitement.
In the distance sinister slithering shapes were approaching, almost too quick to be seen by an Ork eye. A brood of Ravenors were joining the battle between the Orks and Genestealers.
“Uh, Boss, dere’s some snake fings comin’ over dere” reported an Ork Boy to his mob leader.
“Quiet ya runt, I’z enjoying watchin’ dese fings ‘xplode! Har! Look at dat one!”
“But Boss! Dey’s almost on us!”
“Wot?” The Ork Nob turned to see the quickly slithering advancing brood. “Doz fings look all thin and weak! An’ you’z worried ‘bout dem? Ya sissy!”
With that said the Ork Nob confidently strode with his Power Klaw ready to accept the incoming charge, oblivious to how dangerous the snake like alien strain could be. Before he could reach the front, the Ork Boyz between he and the Ravenors were sliced to shreds by the razor sharp bone talons. With the slight delay his slaughtered comrades bought him, he swiped his Power Klaw across the rank of Ravenors. The might of swing caused the predators closest to him to be torn in half, the aliens broken bodies flailing in nerve reflex from being separated from their head.
“Hah! Told ya dey was weak! Git into ‘em, Boyz!”

    Orks push everything forward again.

Tyranids manage to get the remaining 2 Genestealer squads and strike the Ork left flank. The Ork right flank is assaulted by the Ravenors and a single Genestealer unit. The Orks manage to wipe out the Ravenors and hold against the Genetealers.

    Turn 4

“Dat’s one big bug,” thought the Deff Dread pilot advancing over the ruined temple. “But I’m bigger! Let’s rumble! Hur hur hur!”
The mechanical behemoth advanced towards the mighty alien commander, the two squaring off in a duel to the death. It would be Ork crude technology versus alien selective breeding and evolution. Suddenly the Hive Tyrant moved with speed impossible for a creature its size and gouged its talons through the thick armor plates like it were water. In amazement the Dread pilot felt the snorting breath of the Tyranid monstrosity on his skin. He realized that he was now exposed to the atmosphere, where moments before he was in the swealtering heat of the machine. Before he could react the Tyrant Guard managed to tear the rest of the construct to pieces, leaving the pilot a shattered ruin in the process.

The Kans move forward with one squad assaulting the Carnifexes and the other the Genestealers. One Carnifex is killed and the other wounded. They then return the favor and destroy all of the Kans that assaulted them. The Genestealers are soundly killed and flee. The rest of the Orks move forward. The Dread attempts to assault the Zoanthroaps and fails the difficult terrain test.

The wounded Canifex moves forward and destroys the remaining 3 Kans. The Hive Tyrant and Guard assault the Dread and destroy it. The Genestealers on the Ork right flank manage to overwhelm the holding Orks and move towards the last Ork Boyz squad.

The game ends because the GW store was closing! (Boo!)

    It’s a draw!

The plan in the next turn was to have the last Boyz squad to shoot up the Genestealer squad. It was calculated there was enough Ork bodies to handle a charge from a weakened Genestealer unit. This would also destroy the last Troops unit in the Tyranid army so they could not capture the Ork objective. The Warboss and Nobs would have charged the Hive Tyrant and Guard and hopefully would have torn them to pieces. From there they would have move/ ran/ WAAAGH!!-ed towards the Tyranid objective hopefully capturing it.

Just thought i'd point that out.
Thank you Moderators, and the initial creator of Warseer, for a wonderful forum.

Quite true. But I am curious... Why did you point that out? Was something amiss with my story?

Re: WAAAGH!!! of The Big Noiz Boyz!

I would appreicate some feedback from people about one thing in the last battle report... With the battle plans I had formed for the last turn, how viable do you think they were? I think I had a chance. Perhaps not sure fire, but it was better than nothing... Do you think there was a chance for it to work?
