Smile Hive Fleet Carnivora a Tyranid WIP progress thread by Polomarko

    Hive Fleet Carnivora.
Welcome one and all to my new Tyranid project. This army is to be built to a minimum of 1000 points but with time will probably be upgraded with new units capping at 2000 points.
I like to spend my time on my models so updates may be slow but I plan to update at least once a week dependant on how much feedback/interest I get from you lovely folk at Warseer! (don't want to be letting anyone down now )

I spent much time thinking about the colour scheme for my army. I wanted it to be not too time consuming but look good and be original. I am a big fan of the Alien films and decided the slimy black body suited particularly well and then added some bright colours in to give the a 'nature gone mental' sort of look, Anyway I hope it comes across.

Feedback and criticism is always welcome and any ideas you have for stuff you'd like me to try out be it conversions/paint ideas feel free to let me know.

Right, enough jibber jabber, here is my carnifex.

    Hope you like!
Picture quality isn't great but I'm sure you can find it in your hearts to forgive me.

    Next week....Gargoyles! BOMBOMBOM!

Wow that really is awesome, this is a great piece, the base compliments the model too. I agree with the "nature gone wild" theme, well done. Keep it up.

I love the strong highlights. Feels very alive and alien. Im not sure I like the pattern on the talons though. Its well excecuted like the rest but Im not sure I get it.

The head is my favourite. Makes it a true center piece!

Thank you xedric, yes the talons are abit of a running theme I wanted to try with the army. I wanted to include a pattern you get on the back of butterfly wings that looks like eyes to make them seem big and dangerous. I will be trying this theme out on the Gargoyle wings so hopefully that may make more sense than on the scything talons.

Again thank you for your comments!

Cool! What a unique and well-executed scheme. I really like the green accent color on the tongue and gun-sac. But the patterning on the scytal blades is the best part.

I'm looking forward to the next installment.!

Wow, he (it?) looks just plain awesome! Love the painting scheme and your style, the carapace is a fantastic colour. It is nice a bright without detracting from the rest of the model, very lovely.
    Eagerly awaiting more
    5 thumbs up.

Another example for the one thousand and one ways to paint tyranids.
I really like it (despite pink.... it's not really my favourite colour, you know, but you achieve a great effect), the contrast betewwen really dark and really flashy parts is great!

The gargoyl looks promising too. Go on with it

I'm not entirely sold on the black skin, but the pink carapaces and the blue parts (especially the gargoylewings) look superb.

Avatar of the Eldar: There will be 10 at first and then I plan eventually to have a full unit of 30 (but not until the main army is finished first).

Yes the black skin doesn't really come out in the photos, I will be borrowing a friends camera so maybe the better photos may convince you...but I know what you mean...you may have planted a seed in my head...hmmm.

    Update time!

    First up some Gargoyles.

And a WIP pic of the Hive Tyrant

I'm using the camera on my Mac book at the mo so picture quality is really naff and it's hard to do close shots of the gargoyles, but I will be borrowing a camera soon, so much better shots shall be posted in the future, once i get the actual damn camera!

The Hive Tyrant wings and base are very much in early stages, more pics soon.

    Polo out.
