    Re: REDEATH's DEATH GUARD log

Ok been tough to get time away to work on stuff but I finished simple green stuffing on the Havocs (just really did shoulder pads) and I did some green stuff basing on some of Squad Typhus. I also had to modify a Rhino's front holes so I could put 2 Twin linked Bolter copolas in the front side by side. I'll take some pics tonight before I Prime them then I'll take a pic of the assembled 1850 pts army for this weekends Tourney then I start on getting on track with my painting plan of making sure I have every model Primed, Based, Drybrushed, and first round of wash. Then I will work on individual Models and squads for basing and detailing im not gonna score any points for best painted on sunday but it should look decent and i'm hoping to be almost finished by the next Ard Boyz round (Semi Finals). No more rubberbands holding my tanks together

    Hi Redeath,
Great work on the conversions. I particularly like the old renegade champion you've updated. Are you planning on doing similar things to the ones you have for Chosen? I think those old models are amazing, they're just a bit small compared to current equivalents

    Re: REDEATH's DEATH GUARD log

I didnt even think twice about chopping up the champion model to do it since I had another in my collection anyway....some of the ones for chosen I only have one model and they would be hard to replace if I screw up chopping em up im still sitting on the fence converting them like the champ or leaving them as is. I think initially I will run out of time to get them up and going for the Ard Boyz Tourney so I may just leave them as is and then explore use of greenstuff to try and get a more modern look to them instead of chopping them.

Here are some pics I took last night of the whole 1850 pts worth on a table before I started base coating and dry brushing. And a pic of my table vise where all my magnets hang out.

    Re: REDEATH's DEATH GUARD log

Looks like no updates today as I am being hit by the hurricane in NJ right now and we have no power right now. At my in-laws they have power. I worked on finishing up details on some squads. I worked on squad typhus and the terminator squad friday and Saturday (untill the power went out on me Sat night). In-laws lost power around 2:30pm. (Geez bum luck out here)

    Re: REDEATH's DEATH GUARD log

More terminator stuff in progress looks a little sloppy but rest asured I will touch it up and blend it all nice when i get into fine detail mode. Didn't get much done today due to wife agro wanting me to help pack since we leaving for Florida early Thursday....i'm not expecting to get much done tomorrow night either for same reasons.

Ok back from long vacation all Disney'd out now I'm way behind and have to get ready for Ard Boyz semi finals 2500 points...so back to concentrating on having everything WYSIWYG and assembled since there is no scoring for best painted army. But I still will get some painting done and post pics.

    Re: REDEATH's DEATH GUARD log

Ok Here is a pic the 2500 Army I am bringing (obviously not fully painted due to Hurricane and then 10 Day Disney Vacation and then catching up on work and family bussiness and also getting a head cold in the begining of this week)

Also here is my Chosen unit I am working on using Clasic renegades...as I have said before I want to try to avoid chopping these guys up if I only have one model. Also in my list I originally had 4 Meltas but due to time and model constraints I have been forced to go with 2 Meltas and 2 Plasma. I also have not figured out what I will do for Icon Bearer so I kinda did a quick Cheeze job on that...

    Re: REDEATH's DEATH GUARD log

Here are the Meltas for the Chosen unit (I did chop one model but only because I had another of the same model shown next to him for comparison) I borrowed the idea of cutting the CSM backpack to make it look like a Heresy Age backpack from DeSnifter's Death Guard Legion log http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=206101 I would like to make more of them but I think that will be a post completion touchup / enhancement when I am completely done painting up all these guys.

also here is the old Death Guard Champ I converted before....im gonna try to get him painted tonight no promises though as I have a lot to do before Saturdays Ard Boyz Tourney

And next is my Havoc Icon Bearer (again temporary rush job) and a new Havoc with Autocannon (Eventually I will have a 4 Autocannon Havoc Squad but due to lack of parts I only have 1 in the squad)

    Re: REDEATH's DEATH GUARD log

Thanks. I think I am now officially tournamented out for at least a few months I came in second to last on saturday's Ard Boyz semi finals....granted I did not have the list I wanted to bring due to model limitations.

But my first match vs dark elder was going Great for me the first 3 turns then on turn 4 I had the worst luck ever....rolled all 1's on my terminators and killed em all off and typhus kills himself with his daemon weapon on turn 5 and they finally blow up my land raider between losing those units and losing the damage the terminators were going to do I handed my opponent a massacre by 2 victory points.

My second battle was not so bad vs elder. My third one was horrible vs orks damn looted tanks got lucky and wiped my terminators by accident with a large blast that drifted 10 inches to land on them and I rolled a bunch of ones then 3 maxed out mobs of lootas which kept getting 3x shots for an ungodly amount of shots cleaned up my havocs...chosen and obliterators....it was ugly and typhus slit his throat again and rolled a 1 with daemon weapon this letting gazkull that only had one wound left kill him off.

So no more tourneys until I have the army I really want to field so now you will see more painting in this log and more completed models fully painted.

That defiler looks awesome! I'm in the middle of sorting my own Death Guard army right now so I'm sort of looking at other blogs for inspiration, and your conversion work is some of the best I've found!
