    The Shadows are coming...

I think most of you guys know by now some of my Xenos-Logs and know also that I'm always drwan to new armies/models just because of aesthetics.

When the new Dark Eldar Range was publishes, I sold most of my Imperial Guard stuff and bought several DE-boxes, which remained mostly shelved, as I'm still working on my HiveFleet Apophis.

Way back when I started with the GW-hobby, I bought a 3. Ed. Starterbox with a friend and I painted up the DE Warriors and collected a sizeable force (which looks horrible by todays standards)* - so it was only natrual for me to fall in love with the newest DE models.

I'm still not tired painting my 'Nids, but as my gaming-club pauses 'til the end of August, I'd like to grab the opportunity to paint at least 1000 points of Dark Eldar.

Here are my first Warriors (notice: no blue!):

*= My first Archon was even named Lord Dezmord twelve years ago...

These look very cool Dezmord. What are the edge highlights Warlock Purple working up with white?

Looking forward to your work, Dez. Especially looking forward to the inevitable conversions I have a feeling are coming. Might find inspiration here for my own DE force when it finally gets moving from the postal depot it's stuck in (damn Canada Post locking out the workers..)

Thanks! Glad you like my first steps with this army.

For reasons unknown, I've always liked to paint things with Warlock Purple and I always try to sneak that colour into the painting of several of my models - like the goggles on some of my orks or the lenses on imperial stuff. I couldn't resist trying the colour on my Dark Eldar.

I've started with a mix of Warlock Purple/Chaos Black (60/40), followed by pure Warlock Purple, a highlight with Warlock Purple/Tentacle Pink (50/50) and pure Tentacle Pink.

Looking great so far. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the DE as you always provide great inspiration (I'm using your first big mek in your ork log as inspiration for painting my one right now). What models can we expect to see?

    Nice. We want more!

Can't wait to see your paint scheme on the Raider and Venom.

    Cheers!

Funniest/coolest line I've read on Warseer! And a pretty good description of the plogs above.

    All the models I like

My current plan for 1000 points includes:

    - 9 Warriors + Raider
    - 10 Wracks
    - 2 Haemonculi
    - Beastmaster with Clawbeast (?)
    - 5 Incubbi + Venom
    - Fighter (?)
    - Talos

The Beastmaster and one Haemonculus should be finished in the next two days.

Nice, big fan of your nids, and can't wait to see more Dark Eldar from you. Color scheme looks great, but I think the grass looks a bit out of place.

    Re: The Shadows are coming...

The bases tie in with most of your armies I guess. That's also a nice way to mark them as "your" armies (even if you don't intend to).

That's a nice paint scheme and less blueish indeed:P, but it fits the theme very well. I'm looking forward for the next stuff, especially for the clawbeast. It is an awesome model (one of the coolest of the overall great DE-range imo) and I'm excited about your approach.

    Keep the pictures coming!

I am really liking your paint jobs on those. The eye glow contrasts really nicely with the purple. I like the metallics as well. Great job.

I really love your models, the dark eldar are no exception, looking forward to seeing more. Are you going to paint the flesh similar to your avatar? Or are you going more for the GW look?

    Re: The Shadows are coming...

I've finshed a Beastmaster and two Hagashin yesterday and varnished them with Purity Seal. The Hagashin are now in my Garbage-can and the Beastmaster is being stripped - the varnish made all three models white!

This might have happened because of humidity, but I'm not sure. It happens ocassionaly in summer with my models, but never that serious...

I've had this happen in the past with my minis. Nothing more frustrating! I think it's to do with the humidity like you say but I'm no expert. Was there no way to save the others then?
