Sweet, another kick in the groin! Good show GW, good show.
Good thing I hadn't taken a subscription yet.

I cancelled mine a couple of weeks ago as well, but it was a DD sub, so still a couple of issues to go before it ends.
I didn't bother to inform GW - I doubt they would care.
Really, it is a bit of a kick in the teeth paying for a magazine up front, then having little Timmy be able to wander into a GW shop and look through it (not necessarily buy), well before you get your paid for copy.
Way to go GW, keep it up...![]()

War does not determine who is right - only who is left (Bertrand Russell).
War is a continuation of politics by other means (Karl von Clausewitz)
I'm not suprised anymore... let them eventually they will find out that suddenly a lot of their previous target audience is playing other games and then they hopefully see the need to change.
Bretonnians ARE NOT a pure Knightly army.
Half the army choices consist out of Peasants and Damsels.

Oh well done GW, a big round of applause for destroying your subscription base, BRAVO BRAVO!!!
Whats next to alienate your customer base, pre painted models, a free kick in the balls for every customer who enters a store - not females of course as thats not cricket old boy![]()

Just called up to chase my subs copy to be told;
"Yeah, well, it`s to you know, build up the excitement in store and, y`know, bring all of the releases in-line, sorry....."
*****, can`t believe that I was a very successful manager for these people for over 5 years and earned them an absolute fortune. Looks like my subs getting cancelled then.
What a crap way to reach my 100th post!
LOL!!! excellent, a free kick in the balls! made me spill my coffee everywhere!!!
On a serious note after over 25 years the love affair is finally over, this is the last in a long line of decisions that I can't stomach and as such I am finished with GW.
On a plus note with my cancelled sub refund I shall treat myself to some new PS3 games![]()
I think we should put up a pool for what GWs next dickish move will be![]()

I'm really fed up as well - despite the middling quality of WD I was always looking forward at the day when the new issue arrived in my mail box. Now I have to go through the extra hassle to travel to a local store to get my issue even in time...

Luckily it's not such a hassle for me. I go to my local GW on thursday and fridays and sometimes we are allowed to buy the new WD friday in the evening (around 21:00 ), right before closing time.

Subscription cancelled, nuff said!
On a side note, just called my local store (Cambridge) and the guys there hadn't been told about this shift in policy! Suffice to say they are NOT happy pandas....
I'm disappointed I won't be getting it early, I'd have thought they could manage to get it out for the day of release but Ho Hum.
I won't be cancelling my sub however as it's still £3 a month through subscription and saves me a trip into a GW store (which I won't ever do!)
Yeah... I'll keep the sub (if only because I have every issue since WD125, and it'd be a shame to break the sequence) to save me a trip into GW.
WD has been worthless for more than a year, it's even more worthless now, but worthless is worthless either way (yet somehow I still find myself paying for it). So this just seems totally dickish, on principle more than anything else. I guess they're trying to force you into the shops to learn the latest news. The joke's on them - I get my "latest news" right here on Warseer, months before the slimy shop assistant tries to convince me to buy it!![]()
I assume GW don't think they are making enough due to the discounts on the subsriptions. I think the descision making process went something like this...
GW board member - Hmmm, people have fiinally cottoned on to the fact WD is nothing but an expensive catalogue, they're not buying enough..
GW ideas man - Well, the subscriptions allow the customer to save a lot of money...
GW board member - What, What!, WHAT! - customers are not spending all their money with us???? Something must be done!
GW ideas man - Well, if we make the subscribers wait a week over the non-subscribers, all the subscribers will be so obsessed about having their WD early that they'll cancel the sub and buy full price in store!
GW board member - Great idea! We'll make a mint! What happens if (shudder) they don't buy in store? Or even... maybe... buy something not GW?
GW ideas man - They're GW customers. They'll buy anything we tell them to. Those that cancelled their subscriptions on principle will soon be back, and even if they buy 2-3 WDs less a year, well we're still making more profit than a sub - just think of the postal savings alone. Any way Mr Kirby, you know there's nothing outside of GW?
Member of J.A.D.E.DTrying to convince Warseer that GW are anything less than perfect is like trying to teach a horde of zombies that lettuce is a perfectly acceptable alternative to brains.
Lest we forget
Me too. I thought, you know, you basically get a free issue every couple of months, and what with the Sisters codex coming out in it, why not? Now I know you'll be getting the info AFTER everyone else, I shan't be bothering.
What did they say to you on the phone Hastings? Did they froth about how you'll be missing out on knowing about the new shinys first, or were they 'ok sir, you're the 34th today..' ?
I'll be cancelling my subscription after the Sisters Dex has been released, and from that point on it is simply going to be the occasional buy if they have something actually worth shelling out money for.
The quality of the articles has made it a marginal purchase on a subscription pricing policy, with the home delivery and favourable delivery times being the other key factors. This just tips it over the edge from my POV.
I sold about 150 issues dating back to the early 1990s recently, it was a bit of a tearjerker as I'd loved reading all the fantastic stuff they used to have in there, but all the cool old rules and Chapter Approved articles relate to old editions or games no-one playsThere is nothing worth re-reading from around the last 3-4 years that I can think of.
So I too will be cancelling my subscription. Only recently I was talking to a mate about how I used to love WD arriving early. Don't get me wrong, but receiving WD through the post has been a hobby highlight for me since the 80s! Only I suspect that this is just the start of the phasing out of the once great magazine. Funny how GW now wants us 'in store' to pick up a copy? Fah..! Today I thought that in a few months WD will be some online only advert for people to download for a ludicrous price. Occasionally, I may be tempted to purchase a copy to see what is going on but I doubt it will be a regular thing. Moving on, I feel for the employees that have to answer the phone call from digruntled fans. Keeping to the company line must be challenge to some of those guys. If in the future GW changed their minds and introduced some consistency then perhaps I would purchase another subscription. Really disappointed with this decision. But, we must move on with our own hobby and there are plenty of other companies to dip into. You never know, the architects of GW rise are now (largely) employed by other companies and free to develop whatever and I think I shall be following them.
PS. Let the spirit of WD 77 live on!
Well being a WD subscriber I have to say that I find this frustrating, especially as I just renewed my subscription.
Next time I'll just get my subscription through these guys: Miniature Market
Was discussing getting a subscription this month (the wife said yes!). But won't bother now. So GW you have just lost another batch of sales.
Selling my Space Marine Army including Tac squads, Scouts, rhino's and bikes etc.
