Ordering OOP models from Warhammer world

    Hi All,

Ive emailed GW to find out if there is a chance that if I go to Warhammer world, they have back order models available to buy.

I distinctly remember, this used to be a service they offered, they would cast up any OOP model while you were there, although I think we are looking at a decade ago or even longer that I saw this.

I figure its a remote chance since they seem to have all but abandoned the back catalogue, but since I am planning on going this year, I could stock up on the Necromunda Models I am having difficulty finding [I am talking about you, Delaque with lasgun 4]

If it turns out they will do this, I will let everyone here know

    Fingers crossed!

Yeah they did do that. Ten years ago. Back then the shop was through the wall from mail order. Nowadays the mail order section is at the other end of the site. They don't have their own casters anymore either. So I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.

To be honest, I am not getting my hope up, but it can't harm to ask

I did this as recently as 2006 with my Esher gang (at least, I'm pretty sure I did). I doubt they still do it now, although I would love to hear about it if they do.
It has been brought to my attention that there is also a character called enyos in Buffy the Vampire slayer. Note that my username predates him by several years, not the other way around

It was supposed to be a two day response, nothing yet after four days, so I am unsure if this is bad or good.

Hell id be willing to pay double whatever the current prices are per model, provided I could actually get my hands on what I wanted.

Sorry, I was there last year and they couldn't get me anything that's not in the online store. In fact, I don't think the redshirt even knew that anything else ever existed...

Would be very surprised if they would some up with a positive reply.

Most models are available on ebay quite easily and even at collectors prices they're not much more expensive than at GW prices. Apart from this the casting quality of the Necro archive models I've recently purchased it rather dreadfull...

A box of delaques I bought 2 weeks ago are in perfect condition. Although I suppose it depends on how old they are, as they could have been languishing in GW stocks for ages

They can only order what's available on the website. The really rubbish part is that you can't even order individual models anymore... they're random.

Well, it's not a problem for the consumer. Just stand at the counter getting refunds and reordering, while staring impassively at the Red Shirt, until the right model comes along . If they want to evade going bankrupt on till receipt usage and credit card transactions, they'll play ball .

I have been using ebay. It just seems certain models are nigh on impossible to find!

I got this reply today, a bit longer than 2 days...

    Hello

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately the range of models that you see on the web site is everything that we now sell. Anything that does not appear there is not something that we can get. I hope that this is of help and if you have any problems please do not hesitate to get in touch.

What I don't understand, is why they don't let you even order models separately. They're basically forcing people to buy on ebay instead of making the money themselves.

I have no idea Dronevil I don't see how difficult, or indeed how expensive it would be to cast small amounts of specialist games models, and have a back catalogue on the site.

Given the prices some of the models go for on ebay, they could be making a healthy profit on a small amount of models. Providing they still have the moulds that is I guess.

Re: Ordering OOP models from Warhammer world

I definitely think GW could make a good profit selling lots of older specialist models at a high premium. Lots of the range sold for a very short time and goes on ebay for stupid prices. Things like the new Van Saar range, Kislev mordheim warbands, escher plasma, mad donna, etc.. sold at a 50% premium compared to the rest of the range would be a great gesture to the specialist games fans, and would make money even only on on a small amount of sales.
