Re: Witchhunter, Radical, Rogue Trader, Spy - INQ28mm

Daemonhost is the focus as I'm running a 16 player tourney tomorrow and then gaming sunday so no painting this weekend.

    Here's where I'm upto

Still trying to get the flesh right. I'm happy with the eyes. The blood on the fingers I like. Suggestions on what colour to do the hair would be gratefully received.

For the hair I had been thinking of blue and going to paint it with a dark blue tomorrow night as I can easily shift it to grey if it doesn't work. My only concern with grey and purple is that it may get lost with the colours already on the model.

Picked up some new bases on Saturday to allow my Rogue Trader crew to be given industrial bases.

Only one of the crew who isn't getting a new base is the Lemmy sat on his stone, but all the rest have been shifted over. That way I'm looking at giving each warband a look for their bases - Lynch's mob have marble from a ruined church, Nathin's radicals are all have some form of corruption or decay on their base like the Daemonhost has, and then need to figure something else for the good guys - some names for a start

Just noticed Golden Demon pics are up and a few ideas there for INQ. 40k single minis has a definite Rogue Trader/Ordo Xenos guy.

Right well slowly painting, but it's also dawned on me no one's seen the progress I've been making on other stuff alongside the daemonhost.

Cutter the Rogue Trader's pilot. Actually written up his stats so now working on his background and equipment.

Magos Ignace for Lynch's band. Pleased with the brighter red so now at a point I can work on the detail work. Need to figure where to put the check patterns on him.

Then where I'm upto on the daemonhost

Added in the new purity seal and working that up now. Hair next and working on the base.

Well finally finished the daemon and useful to have painted her as it got some ideas in place for how I'll do that warband.

She's not perfect, but fairly happy with her. Need to work on her stats now though need to do more reading to see how others have statted up bound daemonhosts. Her background is that the Daemon's name is Huntress in the Darkness and that the host body was a noblewoman who, with her cult, was intending to raise the daemon for her own purposes. Willem Nathin, Ordo Malleus Inquisitor, subverted the ritual and bound the daemon into the woman's body. His research had shown that this daemon might be a good source of information and so he sacrificed her to gain the knowledge.

An awesome and unique looking daemonhost, and a great backstory too. This is one of my favourite logs on Warseer, so keep up the good work

Thanks very much Ithaka. Now I've started finishing painting figures I'm now trying to finish background and stats to get them all done as well.

Lynch hails from the Amalathian ethos of Order Hereticus. He assumed the name Lynch when he joined Inquisitor Catriona Kyas as an initiate. His family are a noble trading house who operated from Prime. “Lynch” came into Catriona’s view when he undertook an investigation of cult activity amongst the upper echelons, including some members of that planet’s Adeptus Arbites. Young “Lynch” warned Catriona of an imminent attack and the Inquisitor was impressed by the boy’s strength of purpose despite his young age.

Taken from his family his training began in both scholarly and more practical instruction. In time Lynch was put in charge of his own group of acolytes carrying forward the Inquisitor’s, and of course the Emperor’s, will. One of the acolytes he worked with was Malakai, a gunfighter who had joined Catriona many years before. Lynch still has the tendency to see rights and wrongs and may at times have been a little heavy handed in his approach. Malakai has raised concerns both with Lynch and Catriona about a lack of understanding of the greys in situations, which maybe the reason that when Lynch was made a full Inquisitor Malakai left the employ of his former Inquisitor to join the newly ordained Lynch.

Lynch follows the Amalathian way of thinking. Calm the fires and slow change, should change even be necessary at all. Malakai would argue that Lynch’s simplistic views are because he has had little contact with that which might truly unsettle his views. On his more open conversations the gunfighter would suggest that maybe the child that Catriona recruited might not have grown up yet.

In the field Lynch usually leaves it to Callidon, Malakai and Father Jericus to investigate, preferring to enter the situation when he might purposefully move towards the solution. His armour has been modified so that he might preach the Word of the Emperor loudly and clearly. He wears neither hat nor hood so that those around might clearly see the face of one loyal to the Golden Throne. He has a hatred for psykers and uses the pariah he has come into contact as if Uriah were simply a tool. He would certainly shed no tears at the loss of the warp tainted creature. Jericus is probably the one he is closest to, despite Lynch having acquired a bodyguard in the form of Sister Jezaiil. Jericus and to some extent Malakai are the only ones he really has any loyalty towards. Malakai may in some respects be right in that by his very upbringing Lynch suffers from a lack of personal skills whereby he uses his very forceful personality to get the resolution he wants rather than negotiating or another way forward. He is currently a very blunt tool.

Recently it has come to his attention that his family are moving trading opportunities into the sector he is assigned to. It is likely he may come into the contact with the family he left behind for the Emperor’s Service. For their sake let them be on the right side.

    Lynch is right handed.
Skills: Leader, Word of The Emperor
Equipment: Bolt Pistol with 2 reloads plus 1 clip of Inferno rounds and 1 of Wych bolts, Mastercrafted Chainsword, Magistratum Combat Carapace (AV8 – body and arms), Heavy coat on legs, Knife, loud speaker built into the armour.

Next up is probably Father Jericus, then Cutter the pilot.

Very nice conversion work going on. Giving this a 5/5 just on that basis alone, every figure is unique and themed.

It's a great gaggle of characters that you've gathered, and they certainly all fit the bill, for their assigned role. Daemonhost is really characterful, and I love the story of a tragically deluded noblewoman being usedas a pawn by a cynical, calculating radical of the Inquisition.

Wow thanks very much guys. Not progressed much on painting this week as I've been on my own and looking after the house, but working on background for various people.

The Daemonhost is actually in a competition at the moment over at Ammobunker so if you have an account over there and you'd like to vote for her then go here.

Re: Witchhunter, Radical, Rogue Trader, Spy - INQ28mm

Well she won the competition and I ended up with a Games day Chaos Sorcerer who may end up turning up in some form in Inquisitor.

Having to rejig warbands again as plans for the Inqvitational change so Lynch and his band won't be getting used. So that really leaves me with 2 options.

The good guys. You'll notice I've swapped around the inquisitors between this and the radicals and that's because of the abilities I was looking at giving Nathin the Radical and also how I saw his character. My feeling is these guys could do with some sort of ranged muscle, but not sure what as I don't want it to be a shotgun as the figure that will come back to these guys is the shotgun carrying bounty hunter.

The other alternative is Nathin's radicals. Nathin is going to get sorcery now as it fits the research focus he's had. Switching models makes it easier to go with the notion he's an older inquisitor and less likely to leap into combat. These guys will be getting a Magos so they are pretty much set as they are.

Given the setup for the Inqvitational I do wonder if it would be better going with non radical warband and unlike Lynch I definitely see the new Inquisitor to be less of a dick frankly. Thoughts?

Just to show I've not stopped. Here's the progress of Magos Ignace. Now looking at what symbols to paint onto him and been looking at the Jes Goodwin Admech picture.

Re: Witchhunter, Radical, Rogue Trader, Spy - INQ28mm

Been thinking of other models as particularly the good guys warband is lacking in ranged focus. One of the issues with that is I've stocked up on shotguns and need some other weapons in the mix.

Gone for a less regimented look and clearly not on active duty anymore so has been with the Inquisitor for a while. Definitely thinking ex PDF.

Then past him I've been thinking of non guard combat characters.

Void/Navy trooper converted. Once I started on the maul idea I went with a much more utilitarian look so definitely no sash now.

Re: Witchhunter, Radical, Rogue Trader, Spy - INQ28mm

After some comments on the Warden - which is what the Navy trooper has now become - I've modified him.

I think he's pretty much done.

Lemmy's base had a slight issue in that the polystyrene had a reaction to the glue so needed to remake his base.

That's where I'm at so far. I think I may need to sand it over to make it look more rubbly.

Magnos Ignace to join Lynch's band.

I've gone with a pallid skin complexion to represent that he's not all human anymore. The reds of the robes fit nicely alongside Jericus whilst looking different enough which was my main concern.

So now I'm finishing Cutter, the pilot, for the Rogue Trader then looking at starting painting some figures that may actually get to come along to the Inqvitational. My plans this week to do work on background and character went down the pan due to having to deal with sick wife for 2 days so now I'm finishing job application and then doing a presentation. Bit behind in here so got another update I'll do soon.

If you're going to vote then please at least comment in the thread.

    Another new build is

Using Black templar and dark angel body cut down with some more work to be done sat on Pit slave legs. At last I found a use for the pitslave as it was an awful model.

    Potential setup for him is

Though I'm minded to give him a flamer instead with limited ammo. Calling him Vacetti. He'll be going with the good guys who are starting to take form.

Working on finishing the Rogue Trader's pilot now and I'll update with a few more new builds soon.

    Finished up the pilot.

There's a shield on the left hand side that I may revisit if I get a nice symbol to work with through the Rogue Trader crew.

Once I'd taken those photos it dawned on me to do something more with the base and the coat lining.

Pretty happy with him and I now need to figure what to paint up next.

The pilot looks wonderful. Giving me an itch to paint up my remaining INQ28 chaps. Bit of a shame since I promised myself I wouldn't until at least my DE were done...

    Vacetti looks very promising.

Thanks Hadriel and New Cult King.

Picked up the Emperor's Will artbook yesterday and very good for inspiring ideas and helping solidify some of stuff I've already built. It's good if only for giving bigger more detailed versions of some of the pictures I'd been looking to use as ideas.

So stemming from getting about halfway through some ideas to play with.

Convert Enforcer from Dark Eldar - resculpt body and armour.
Hanging litanies - thin green stuff for pinned litanies
    Puppeteer controlling servitor
Handcuffs built from little piece of chain hanging from belt.
Physicia with servoskulls attached to him - one held in hand.
Boneseer or maybe do with Xeno arcanist - cast bones and able to give a plus to character by warning of future through passing sagacity or similar test.
Electro priest - build off modified kroot body - use the body as frame to work on rather than make it a Kroot.
Servitor in the good guys - make him into a keykeeper
Veteran guard - cyberlimb and lung - use Yarrick claw to build.

Going through and looking to get more. My warden almost has a picture that could represent him, though the gun the guy is armed with looks like the one I converted for the PDF trooper.

Had a try and see how arms would work on the new Priest. The pictures are wip on the right with the flamer and a get it in place on the left. Going to redo the left completely.

I wanted to see how the arms would work. Not entirely sold on the flamer, but I desparately wanted something that wasn't a shotgun.

Well I've built up the right arm and quite happy with it.

Left arm I've started on, but need to bulk the back up.

After the exterminator suggestion I've built one up.

And I quite like the look.

Means for his backpack I'd give him a gun or a loud speaker made from the cadian compack.

Then I've started building an enforcer based on the front covers of the books. Lots to do on her and need to find a head to use.

Couple of shots of where the Brother is up to.

The backpack needs more work doing to it with litanies and maybe more clag on it.

Then thanks to Sparks I have the old chaos champion to work with to build the Admech Magos for the radicals.

Full skirt needs doing, lengthened gun, replaced dagger based on JRN's work.
