Re: Witchhunter, Radical, Rogue Trader, Spy - INQ28mm

I've revised stats and need to type them up. Also been reading the new Amalathian sourcebook, which has definitely decided me that Tybalt isn't one, but that my older witchhunter Lynch is probably a borderline purist, which makes his warband all the more fun.

I got some bits in and been working on what I think will be a gland warrior for Nathin's radicals using these bits

The head is big so I'm currently bulking out the body now I've got the head in place and he'll be taller and bulkier than most people, though not as big as an ogryn.

Finished greenstuffing for now on the servo skull controller. Giving him a bit of downtime before final look over him. I can see him ending up with Tybalt.

Got a new model for the Rogue Trader's crew.

Hasslefree model and not decided yet if I'm going to convert her or use her as is.

Then just to prove I'm still painting.

Still getting Tybalt's colours in. Slow process as I'm trying to figure each layer and what I'll want to do. This is really just basecolours except the coat.

And the Magos is continuing. Doing the check really helps bring him to life. You'll see following Maelstrom's painting of his arch heretek I went with the teal which is nowhere near done yet.

Not a lot of time this week to do stuff with work etc.

    Been building the strain warrior/guard.

This is obviously very wip, but building up the body before tidying the legs. Spotted mould line I need to remove as well.

Work and other stuff have been getting in the way. Started painting a few other figures to try and get stuff at least started before the AB bash.

Also done some more work on trying to sort out profiles.

    Huntress in the darkness -Daemonhost

First attempt at bound daemon, but I'm enjoying her personality and the fact that Huntress still plays up Ismene's noble background, hence the model.

Started painting Nathin as I was very conscious that I hadn't even started my second Inquisitor.

There he is alongside the still being worked on Magos Morden Orbest. Quite happy with his robe, but noticed not got a picture of the scripture I've added to the bottom left. Need some ideas for what colour to do his gloves as don't really want to do more brass/gold.

Then also started on the enforcer, who is being done up in the style of the one on the novel front covers. Going to freehand markings and symbols onto the shoulder pads. Since then the skin has had more work done to it and started on the blue on the jewel, again to replicate the novels. You can see where I'm upto on Tybalt as well. Slowly building him up. Thinking the inside of the cloak will need some embroidered work.

Working on the blast shield which is further along than the rest of her.

If I get this lot finished this gives me Inquisitor Tybalt, Enforcer and cyberhound, and Interrogator Serren for the good guys, with the Enforcer desparately needing a name and background. Then Inquisitor Nathin, Magos Orbest, Huntress in the Darkness and Darrius Criid done for the Radicals. The radicals still need their 6th member building and whilst writing the background for Orbest I wonder if this model who is quite armed really fits him. Tempted to do a new conversion based on the same model minus the chainsword, especially after reading the Dark magenta article with rules for subversive programming.

Thanks Lestat. What attracted me to get into this was actually making them all unique. Its definitely pushing me to learn sculpting which I've only done very little on before.

I promised a picture of what I'm trying to emulate with the one build at the moment.

That's where I'm up to on him (apart from other kneepad is also done now). Aside from handcuffs, finding a decent head for him and purity seals I'm also thinking his coat will need decent cuffs on it.

Whilst I paint him I've also been thinking on statting up Nathin.

Willem Nathin – Radical Ordo Malleus Xanthite Inquisitor

I want to have him as a much more insiduous individual than Tybalt. He's made the hard choices and paid for them along the way. Also the physical condition means the powersword is potentially less potent.

Re: Witchhunter, Radical, Rogue Trader, Spy - INQ28mm

Well managed a bit of painting and modelling yesterday. Even finished a model, though not one I expected to.

First off work on the one modelling project.

Cutting out and reshaping the coat has worked. Once the belt on the coat has dried it's my plan to reshape the back so it lies a little more naturally and covers that hole up a little more. Been finding out some arms to use for the other side as well. It's almost certain that whatever arm I use I'll swap the hand on it.

As I've said before now I've been creating the character for my Magos for the radicals I kept wanting to change the armament on him as the chainsword meant he was a little too well armed and gave a wrong impression for what I wanted him to be.

Arm cut off, damage repaired, new arm put in place.

Gives me the arm to allow him to do the subversive programming I want him to do after reading the Dark Magenta rules and the latest RPG stuff. Plan is to paint the fingers metallic and it represents some tech that he's modified along the way. It also focuses him on the Jezzail rather than presenting him as some sort of combat character which he definitely wasn't intended to be.

Then finally the Enforcer for Tybalt's warband got finished.

I've freehanded a double headed eagle onto the shoulderpad to emulate the book design, but also to break the metallic bits up.

And here she is with her cyberhound.

I say she's finished, but she's done for now and I may go back once I've had a bit of time away from painting her to get some perspective. Fairly certain the shield is where I wanted it to be.

Re: Witchhunter, Radical, Rogue Trader, Spy - INQ28mm

Well having finished the Enforcer the warbands went off to Warhammer World and even got looked over by John Blanche.

A report on the games played can be found over on the Conclave - http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/...;boardseen#new - with photos of the action.

Since then Enforcer Camiron has had her hair finished to mask a little too elfy an ear and also just improved the blending on her suit. Inquisitor Tybalt is now almost finished. Added freehand to him and just really need to finish his gloves and he's done.

But I have managed to finish Magos Morden Orbest for the Radicals.

I'm much happier with him now. He's got a nice creepy feel to him and no longer looks like a combat character.

Following the Ammobunker bash though it looks like it's definitely Tybalt and his warband who are going along so once Tybalt is done I'm going to be finishing Kraye and then working on the Adept. If I get the FW enforcer in time then I'll look at using his cybermastiff as Camiron's. Though she's lost 2 in 2 games so not a great life expectancy Playing these guys has really helped in establishing personality and already some of them have some new traits. Interrogator Serren having failed to shoot down a combat servitor at point blank with her bolt pistol lost her legs, which have since been regrown. Tybalt managed to disrupt a bound daemon, which means Kraye is a little less antagonistic towards him at the moment. Things like that.

Thanks very much Bildo. First time I ever really noticed the scale issues was when we played at Warhammer World and now we're talking about 2'x2' boards for the bash to play on. That's a definite different focus than anything I've played before.

Well I've had limited time for painting, but I have finished Inquisitor Tybalt.

And some really out of focus shots of the whole group so far

If I can get the new Enforcer in time then I'll be using that cyberhound with the group. That just leaves Kraye to finish painting (and he's taking time as I can't figure what colours to do all the detail on him) and then the adept and Wayfarer/Priest to finish off the group for the Inqvitational.

Working on the adept next. Saturated colours on him I think. Very dark robes and pale skin, working up from a thrall flesh.

Adept with the skin well underway. These wires sticking out all over present an issue as I can't go too bright on the colours on them or they will be too distracting, but if I do them the same colour it'll look boring. He's most likely to get finished first because now I've started him I really can't see him taking that long to finish.

Unlike Saul Kraye, because every time I look at the model I find another bit that I hadn't seen in the detail before. His scheme has to sit between two of my warbands as he has a connection to both so he'll have a green and grey scheme to thematically work with elements of both.

Still working on the other Inquisitor. He's got two what look to be lanterns on his back and rather than go with normal yellow I'm thinking of going with an eerie blue light effect.

I'm also doing work on the Inquisitor Rex model from Forgeworld. This is probably the best place over here to put him. I've nicked two of his retinue for other Inq28 and I'm thinking of painting him up in the style of Tyrus in the black and gold, largely because I don't want to do a light armour colour and I like the idea of Rex joining Tyrus in the never to be played camp.

Currently converting him as his shield is going elsewhere so using a dark angel terminator shield.

First issue has been getting the cloak to fit smoothly. Had to do some greenstuff to get it to marry up properly. Need to finish the shield work before I can really start painting him.

Well I forgot to take a shot of Inquisitor Nathin's lanterns, but I'm pleased with the effect. He's actually probably closed to being finished as I can't see a lot more I want to do on him. Might have him done before I go back to work.

I have however finished Mortemer the savant.

Quite happy with how the book turned out. Done an inscription on his las pistol as I figured he'd inscribe most of his equipment. Just spotted the random bit of metal on the laspistol so I'll tidy that up.

Starting on the Wayfarer/Priest now. Seriously need to figure out what colour to do his robes. I could go for a lighter green maybe even up to olive. Red robes for him would probably not work that well in terms of fitting the rest of the warband.

Re: Witchhunter, Radical, Rogue Trader, Spy - INQ28mm

I've started the priest in green. Got a nice olive so I'll build to that. The way things are going Kraye will end up as the last one to be finished.

Because I've gone and finished Inquisitor Nathin as well.

I like the eerie blue effect and added little lines of red to the white on the back of his armour, which could be taken in multiple different ways.

I'm now in the position where I'm thinking of making a start painting the Rogue Trader crew, especially after enjoying painting the blue on the adventurer I've been painting up.

Nathin looks awesome. Great combination of parts. Are you enjoying Rex? I loved working on mine (became Belial!) I think he'll look great in Tyrus' colours.

I don't post much ... but on this AWESOME painting blog I must!

This is amazing and I wish you all the patience and dedication in the world! Keep it up, don't give up, and finish this amazing army! You have inspired me to start a space pirate army that I have wanted to do for about 10 years.

Zirone - that's great. Always looking out for more Inq28 plogs as I love getting ideas.

Nicromanov - it's slightly easier with the plastic warcasters. And as you'll see I've just started on another one.

Hadriel - not yet. I'm just still trying to get the black primer down as despite two washes it still soaked in paint. Hopefully gotten that sorted now.

Thornz - thanks very much. I'm definitely still keeping going. Tybalt's first section of his band need to be finished by the Inqvitational in early June so that's Kraye and the Wayfarer plus the FW cyberhound if I can get one in time. I'm now looking at starting painting up the Rogue Trader crew, but I've also gone and started making new stuff.

Well I started working on one Inq28 model yesterday and ended up with another.

    Start of the build process.

Pinning to get the arm sculpt to work.

Then cut up an entirely different model.

Warmachine Sorscha plastic legs with dark eldar body and converted corsair arms.

The head's proving the main issue as getting a decent female head is a continual problem.

Head chopped away at to allow resculpting.

First attempt. Really not sure about it. If I had some spare cash I'm thinking of getting the new Black Scorpion lady pirates and taking a head from there. See if I manage to sell any stuff in the next week. Unless anyone has any other suggestions for sourcing a head?

Given up on the Dark Eldar head and trying a different idea. The figure I'm planning on beheading is the Governor's daughter from Black Scorpion.

That's the metal version I own which I will be leaving alone and getting the new resin version on Saturday.

There's the head against the body.

That will leave me with her body to also do something with.

Then the other model I'm building is a Crusader.

Probably not a lot getting done on these until Sunday night.

Why not make a press mold of her face and get it that way? Will save you a bit of cash. Also, if you buy another copy and just use the head, you will be back to square one with a body that you have trouble finding a head for...

Taarnak - I'd rather have the possibility of converting rather than casting. The book that's from is Emperor's Will, but it's from the Dark Heresy books.

Picked up the model for the head for the one model at Salute as well as the FW cyberhound (with free enforcer ).

    Pre cutting.

And after first stage of assembly. Decided she's going to be Ordo Xenos so looking at another way of suggesting that.
