The Fleshwrought Coven - Hamonculus Army

Hey hey. My original thread seems to be lost in the Warp so here goes again.

I've always liked the idea and imagery of the Dark Eldar but always thought the models were a huge let down. Now 12 years later they've finaly done something with the models that make them pop.

When flipping through the new codex I landed on the picture of the Wack in the bio section and was sold; I was going to do a freaky army of stiched-together freaks.

Unfortuanly I haven't got pics of the little critters just yet. Stay tuned for some actual DE goodies.

The doctor will be with you shortly...

Re: The Fleshwrought Coven - Hamonculus Army

Well, a few looks but no comments. Seems fair as there are no Dark Eldar to comment on. Well here they are:

A little group shot of the coven so far

    3 of my Haemonculi

    A bunch of Warriors

and the first unit of Wracks

I'll save the big beasties for a bit later...

I was originally going for a pure coven list, just haemis, wracks, grots and engines but I got a few ideas for some other units and just had to try them out.

Everything in the army is converted to a lesser or greater extent. The Warcks don't actually have any Wrack parts in them as I started to make them as soon as the codex came out. Still to come are 2 Taloses (Taloi?), a Cronos, Trueborn, Grotesques, Scourges, Raiders and a Venom aswel as a second unit of Wracks.

    C & C welcome. Cheers.

What I look at so far, looks really impressive. Especially the warriors look awesome, not that agile like uhm, the usally healthy ones but unstoppable and beasty. Your wrack conversion looks fine, too, very ceepy.
Do you plan to add further stuff of teh finecast range or is it "done" so far?

Re: The Fleshwrought Coven - Hamonculus Army

The only things from the new finecast models will be two of the new Wracks used as Acothysts and a few bits of the new Haemonculus. I'm really not a fan of the three new kits, especially the Grotesque (it lives up to its name, and not in a good way).

I've used the hump off the new Haemi for the second Haemonculus in the pics and I'll probably grab a few of the weapons from both the haemi and the Warcks to spread around the army. I much prefer the Mandrake weapons as they actually look more sinister and 'surgical'.

Of course there is a HEAP of greenstuff work to be done patching joins and filling holes but nothing that really needs to be sculpted.

    Thanks for the feedback

Very good use of a lot of varied bits.
Love the dryad heads and it looks good with the GG-legs as well.
Flagellant+Ghoul is a classic, and I think it looks really good.

I'm no fan of your liquifier for the Wraks, but the rest of their weapons look nice and sinister.

What are the arcane gear the Haemonculi are carrying around?

And how have you made the legs of the Grotesque with the Iron Gut scythe?

Whoa those warriors and haemoculi look great! Love the dryad heads.
Can we see some shots of the grotesques and talos/cronos as well; one of them looks very Malanthrope-y and awesome!
Great looking army and look forward to seeing some paint on them. I'm glad someone has done a Haemoculi coven.

Your army looks awesome! I am really loving the warriors. They look unstopable (if that makes any sense ). Have you decided on a paint scheme yet? Are we going to get a look at the pain engines soon?

Ok, so a few of you are asking what bitz I've used. I'll do a basic run down:

Wracks - Flagelant legs, Ghoul torsos and arms, Pink Horror arms, Wych heads, assorted weapons from Corsairs, Flayed Ones, Wyches, Ghouls, Dryads, Wracks

Warriors - Graveguard legs, Kabalite torsos/weapons/heads, Dryad faces used as masks. The standard is from the Dogs of War regiment Mengil's Manflayers.

Grotesques - Spawn bodies and arms, Pink Horror and Ghoul arms, Talos heads and vials, Ogre shoes, assorted weapons from Talos, Ogres and plasticard.

Ok, so the first Haemonculus is made from the legs off Urien Rakarth, Daemonette torso, Mandrake sickle, head from the old female haemi and bitz off the Talos. She's armed with a Venom Blade and a Shattershard. The Shattershard uses bitz from the impaler, haywire blaster and a bit of wyrdstone for the shard.

The second Haemonculus uses Flagelant legs, Daemonette torso and head, the hump off the new haemi and a Mandrake weapon again. She's armd with a Venom Blade and a Webway Portal.

The third Haemonculus is pretty much the old haemi model with a few little bits added to him to bring him up to date with the new imagry. I've counted his weapons as a Hex Rifle and a Flesh Gauntlet

Now, because people are asking for more stuff, here come the heavy-weights:

    Grotesques

    Talos 1

    Talos 2

    Cronos

I'll get better shots of everything some time next week. Enjoy!

Many thanks for the explanation! The new photos look very promising. When I first saw the Pain engine box I thought "chaos spawns + pain engine = grotesques". Nice to see Im not the only one that thought so :P

Love the Ogre-shoes! I'm stealing that and putting it on my Grotesques as well.

But what arms is that on the Chronos? Horrors?

The spawn-Grotsque with the most upright standing pose is my favourite.

Yeah the front two arms on the Cronos are from Horrors. The back two are from Ghouls. I've tried to make it so everything that directly from a 'coven' list has atleast 3 arms (or vestigial arms in the case of the Haemonculi). This it just adds a little bit more creepy to the whole army.

BTW, I have to thank you, I think I stole the idea for my Warriors off your Incubi. Cheers
