How many WHFB armies do you own?

At one point, when I was exclusively a 40k player, I had full armies worth of Space Wolves, Tyranids, Orks, Eldar, Imperial Guard, Necrons and for a short while, even Tau. So that is 7 armies not including other non-Wolf Space Marines and other odds and ends. When things got rough financially for my family, I sold off most of those armies to pay some bills, but I kept the Space Wolves.

Now things are a little more stable and I'm in to FB. I have 1500 points + of both High Elves and OnG. And I feel the urge to expand even more with my next target being Wood Elves. Yes, I know they're on the fringe right now, but with HE and OnG as my main good and "bad" armies, I figured having something a little less competitive but still very fun might be cool.

The problem is, does this mean I'm back on track for collecting a ton of different armies? What's wrong with me? Do I have a condition that requires that I start collecting different armies while never truly completing the armies I already have? Am I simply an GW impulse-buy junkie? (otherwise where did the Necrons that sat on my shelf come from????)

So to maybe put my own behavior into perspective, I posted this poll along with a question you can answer and discuss as you like:

Is buying more and more armies (not just more models for the same army) something that is relatively inherent in Warhammer gaming? Is it healthy or unhealthy? Do you wish you could be other than you are concerning this urge, if you have it?

I have it. I kind of wish I didn't. It'd be nice to simply be satisfied with what I already possess . . . then again, I'm human, aren't I?

6K Ogres (although they will be traded away soon)

10K Orcs and goblins
5K Vampire counts

So out of all of them only wood elves was left 'uncompleted' in that I made a single list for them (in 7th) and then left them.

I think it's good to have mroe than one army. It helps keep things fresh for you and your opponents, and let you take a breather from an army when one gets frustrating.

It also helps tactically as people can't just build their army to beat you since they have no idea what army you will show up with.

I got like 8K or so of Brets... not really sure, and about another 2k in unassembled miniatures/bits... Also got a tiny dwarf army started, mainly cause I respect epic beards.

2000-4000 points of all armys except bretts, empire, chaos dwarfs, daemons and wood elves, my old armys beasts,lizards,chaos(warriors) I've given to my son who's just starting, I like multiple armys as no one knows which one I'll bring and I don't know until the morning which I'll pick depends on mood etc.

Same problemen here. Don't have any complete armylist. I practically hit my eyes on a new even buying for the current one. I'm a sucker for new toys.

Started with Brets and Lizards in a box. After that, in chronical order:

Empire
Dark Elves
Night Goblins
Slaanesh
Nurgle
Dwarfs
Space Marines

Now finally somewhat serious with Night Goblins and Dwarfs, allmost painted 1000pts of both.

I've got current dark elf and empire armies. I've not be tempted to go back to my greenskins or tomb kings in a while so I don't have current army books for them.

All of my armies are in the 3K region

My first army is Chaos (5ed) now it is daemons. I think that even if Chaos was still merged I would play pure daemons. I used to play a mix warriors/daemons but it was more because an all metal daemon army was way to expensive for me.

I also have a Bretonnian army but I think I will try to sell it because I don't have enough free room for it. I like it a lot but I can't keep it.

I have three armies (Beastmen, WoC and skaven) with about 3800 points of painted models, and one army, Nurglings, with about 2000 points painted. I have unpainted stuff for them all, most for WoC, but I don't see the need to count the points of unpainted and unbuilt models.

Since painting is a hobby of mine I don't mind buying more models and/or armies to paint. ATM however I try to decrease my spending and concentrate on painting what I have.

It would kind of depend what you count as an army...

I mean in theory I could field chaos daemons, dogs of war, dwarfs, ogres, tomb kings, orcs and goblins and maybe even empire. The daemons tend to be used for 40k, the empire stuff is only for use with my dogs of war.

2nd is Empire - currently at around 2.5k (assembled and on sprue)

Daemons of Khorne - 3.5k

Last, but not least, is about 2.5k of Skaven - mostly on sprue.


They will be my only armies for Warhammer - I had Ogres (5k), and Daemons of Slaanesh (3.5k), and some random Nurgle/Tzeentch Daemons but sold them off as I realized I didn't spend the proper time completing what I had!

So now until the above 4 armies are done I won't be adding anything else to the pile of 'To-Do' projects!
