Hell yeah, this will be a great log.
The Helldorado stuff's small size might not be such an impairment. It'll probably look just like natural height variation between humans.

I want to see how it looks with the perry stuff. I think the peasants will look good in with the ikko ikki.
It was $30 cad for the set. If I only end up using the wizard, it's a bit pricy, but its not too bad. There are a couple other hell dorado models for the immortals that would be cool, more so if one were doing cathayans.
Check this guy out!

I'm in Banff, Alberta with my girlfriend. Just wandering the mountains, getting inspiration.

The Hell Dorado stuff fits in quite well with the Perrys I think. I've also made some progress on a few models as you can see.
Wizard is assembled.
Love that dragon!
The Ninjas have their leader.

Your update-rate is putting my log to shame! Yeah, those hel dorado minis work really well with the perrys. That dragon wizard guy is ridiculously cool!
You know looking at that picture of the mountains I'm thinking some rolling Japanese hills would make for some great basing.
What are your plans for colors, anyway? All you've painted so far are neutral colors.
That Wizard is top Banana!
I reckon a bright scorpion green will look pretty Damn sweet on those warriors your painting up, should work well with the neutral tones.
Marius Leitdorf is not dead, I bumped into him in Tesco last week.

Haha, well, the Ikko Ikki will probably have dark, muted colours for the most part. The Ashigaru and Samurai will branch out a bit with their sashimono (back banners, they will all have them) and the clothes they wear under their armour.
The BSB will have a pink shirt, as you may be able to see here, as well as a fairly bright, red banner. Apologies for the lack of adequate light in these pictures.
@Lord Dan, I like the rolling hills idea, but I'm not sure how I would implement it. One thing I could do is have the display board with a cliff on the back part, sort of like liljonas' display board for his 15mm samurai.
I also think it would be cool to do a massive hill with a fortress on top for siege/skirmish games. Very ambitious project that I will save for much later.

Just ordered a crapload of stuff from 4 or 5 different websites. I even managed to find an old citadel gem on eBay.
I'll post pics as the stuff arrives. Until then you'll all have to wait and speculate about what's on the way.
An old Dwarf Samurai mini? I think you have a good mixture of models to make your army excellent. However, why are they mounted on 25 mm bases?
In the meantime could you drop some hints as to the mathematical conversion from boxes to crapload?
Absolutly love your plog dude !!!
The Wizard miniature is just awsome ! (cant wait for some colors)
Like the Nippon theme very much !!! Keep up a good work mate !
I do have that dwarf samurai actually, but no, that's not it. I think you guys will be absolutely blown away when you see this crazy thing.
The miniatures I'm using are generally a bit smaller than warhammer models, so they might not fill the base as much, but I assure you, those are 20mm bases. I'll post a comparison shot today with some warhammer models.
1 shady blade + 1 animal static - L (a bit dyslexic) + (> or =) 50 light feet + 1 face palm & co. + heads with eyes to see them + 1 cacophony + 3 harvesters, created just in time + 1 crabby fellow who likes clubbing + 4 hooded clansmen who like to hunt + 2 Licenced pirate reporters (actually it's not them, but what they produce is a clue) + more that I can't remember right now = 1 crapload
Good luck with the clues...
Thanks! I'll do my best to reward your enthusiasm. It's praise and interest like yours (and everyone else that has replied, or subscribed, or just viewed this) that really gets me motivated to get more done!

Just a few comparison shots.

Actually the size isn't that bad at all. I have some of the perry WoTR infantry, and those are really small next to even the well-proportioned Empire state troops. You can see the Ikko-ikko trooper next to that awesome captain with pistol model is pretty much the same height, and any size variation between the head and hands is all but unnoticeable at this distance.
So...I don't recall seeing that Marius Leitdorf model in your Averland plog? Clearly we need updates.
I think he was in there very near the beginning. Either that or I put him in the tale and neglected my own plog.
I think they will look fine facing off against other warhammer armies. Most of the models, and certainly the perrys, are 28mm, which warhammer proclaims to be, but there is obvious scale creep in some of the armies, like Empire, chaos, etc. and it is "heroic" which means some exaggeration is to be expected. Let's see how they stack up with some of the smaller wood elf or dark elf troops though:
I'd say they fit right in.
Any guesses about what I ordered yet?

Here are the clues again
1 shady blade
1 animal static - L (a bit dyslexic)
(> or =) 50 light feet
1 face palm & co.
heads with eyes to see them
1 cacophony
3 harvesters, created just in time
1 crabby fellow who likes clubbing
4 hooded clansmen who like to hunt
2 Licenced pirate reporters (actually it's not them, but what they produce is a clue)
and a new clue
1 tome of rules governing conflict between families
I need to ammend this clue "2 Licenced pirate reporters (actually it's not them, but what they produce is a clue)" It appears that my definition of privateer may not be accurate, so change it to "2 privateer reporters".
Man am I embarrassed.![]()
Eh theres our Mazza! Alright Maz.......
Eh herm sorry about that. Your cryptic clues are great to look at and think wow I hate cryptic clues! Do you do a quick version for those of us who are more intelligencely challenged?
I think ive got yhe answer to your new clue: A Beginners Guide To Family Punch ups: From Christenings to Funerals.
Will you have the Ogre samurai for a unit filler at all?

Ok, I'll give you the first two, maybe that will help with the others.
Shady blade means dark sword, which is a miniatures company that only has 1 samurai so far (guinea pigs excluded).
Animal static - L (dyslexic)
First subtract the L. Anima static
Then the second word is jumbled up, it's tactics. Hmm, I guess there's an extra c in there, oops. Anyways, it's anima tactics, another miniature company.
And since I made another mistake, here's another gimme. The "tome" is the Clan War rulebook.
Alright, the clues suck, haha.
1 shady blade http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/mi...e-samurai.html
1 animal static - L (a bit dyslexic) http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/mi...unaligned.html
(> or =) 50 light feet - Ashigaru means light foot, so these are the Perry Miniatures Ashigaru. I still need more, but I ordered enough for the Halberdier regiment.
1 face palm & co. - defeated daimyo committing hara-kiri from Perry.
heads with eyes to see them - victorious daimyo viewing heads
1 cacophony - musicians (and standards) from Perry
3 harvesters, created just in time - Reaper Miniatures Samurai sculpted by Werner Klocke http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStor...i/latest/03460
1 crabby fellow who likes clubbing http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/mi...e-guard-1.html
4 hooded clansmen who like to hunt http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/mi...-2-2-pack.html and http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/mi...-1-2-pack.html
And Privateer Press produces "War Machine", so I picked up 2 war machines, one is the Perry cannon, the other is this: http://www.solegends.com/citc/c22niprocket.htm

I got some stuff today. My west wind order arrived, as well as the Nippon rocket, and the clan war rulebook.
The scale is a bit weird for both the GW and west wind stuff, the horses in particular, but oh well.
Actually, the pictures don't really capture it too well, and it may be ok when it's painted and mixed in.
Sorry about the delay. I have been trying my best to enjoy our extremely short summer here in Canada, so I've been doing less hobby stuff and going outside as much as possible.
When the weather is not as nice, I'll get my butt in gear painting, and I'll probably do some scenery projects as well!
