    New Ogre Rumours

Witht he following it is best to give the OK rumours a fresh start:

    Phil Kelly is author.

    Plastic kits:
Rhinox Riders (on regular Rhinoxen) (box of 3)
Scraplauncher/Skewer-slinger (Similar to Warp-cannon/plague-claw in design)
Great Mammox with three ogre crew and plastic tyrant option (Same base as Arachnarock. Imagine a cross between a musk ox and a Mammoth)
Yhetees (More gorilla-like, and and no more 80's hairstyle manes. Really dynamic for a plastic kit)

    Finecast:
    Jahred The Red on Rhinox
    Golgfag Maneater

Redone Goldtooth, Skrag, maneaters (box of 3, female, ninja and pirate discontinued), Tyrant/bruiser, gorger.

    Rules:

Bull Charge will work always, even though you're less than 3 ogres and charge less than 6".

All ogres except butchers gain a basic 6+ save from their gut plates.

Ogre Clubs negates parry save, and is a general rule for all weapons like Choppas in OnG.

All army restrictions gone, but gnoblars do not count towards minimum core.

Gnoblars T2, but Sharp stuff is March and Fire, Range 10".

Weapon options for units cheaper, and minor point reductions across the board. Bulls will stay same base cost.

Magic will be standardized. Most spells will stay similar (augments) but with greater range, and can be buffed to affect more units. May also be cast on Yhetees and Gorgers.

Rhinox Riders are super-hard. They get regular stomp and D3+1 Bull Charge, and also has Devastating Charge. (Special Choice)

Scraplauncher, same but moves to Rare.

Rhinox and Mammox are mount options for Tyrant and Hunter.

Mammox can thunderstomp everything, like the SoM Bonegrinder Giant. Insane stats, but expensive (like 290 points base.). Crew can have leadbelcher swivel guns.

Hunter greatly improved. Move and fire with harpoon and monster-killing special rules.

Yhetees as in SoM, but with options for 2HW or GW, and musician now. No standard-bearer.

Leadbelchers auto-hit, and can fire every turn, but only S4, no AP. Don't come with Light Armour.

    Magic Items:

    Big Names Gone.

Half of items are Magic Weapons.

    Tenderizer and Siegebreaker will stay.

    Halfling Cookbook grants Loremaster.

There's a banner granting the same frenzy Minotaurs have.

Plastics will be out in October. Finecast in November.
    There is also this:

New Cauldron-altar rare unit for butchers, no new model.

Greasus now LD10 and completely rewritten (Stats, rules and items similar to Gorbad Ironclaw).
Please stay on topic of N&R discussions.

I'm psyched, Looks like its time to dust off my lead bealchers. If ogres can compete in this edition I'll be happy.

I don't care much for all of that but taking away 80s hairstyles is where I draw the line!

It's nice to see Golgfag back though. And I hope that the big oxen thing will look nice but I'm afraid it will get a "raaaah, I'm a big uninspired monster!!!1" head.

    Re: New Ogre Rumours

Looks promising, even if the trend towards assimilation can be seen (and as expected, the really cool stuff like big names, etc. are gone)

let's hope iron guts and bulls will be a good choice. but sad to see AP gone for useless parry save negation.

Excellent. All seems very reasonable. Shame about the big names though.

Clearly Kelly's reputation is different outside the Dark Eldar followers. I for one regularly pray to whoever might be listening (the Ruinous Powers?) that he be allowed to do as many of my favourite armies as possible...

This is hardly to beleave. Ratlings, cannon grapeshots, ... lost their auto-hit ability. I hope Leadbelchers don't get so many shots, else we will see ogre gunlines

    Re: New Ogre Rumours

Sounds really good, especially with the Scraplauncher (great for Greenskins as well) and Mammox. But why would they discontinue the pirate, ninja and female Maneaters? Those are the best Maneater models.

Given the nature of the way Maneaters are used in people's armies, they probably don't sell very many of those models whether they are good or not.

No wonder that you thought 2nd ed 40K sucked. You weren't even playing it.

But being metal models, they should still have paid back their mold and production costs? (Quite some players with Ogres that I've met use these and the other Maneater models. Not in any quantity that required two hands to count, of course.) The best thing would of course be to make them available only through their online store. It's not very clever to discontinue models like this. First the bitz service (although GW have released quite a lot of good shield variants and the like), and now this. Why? We're here to buy their models, and preferably those models that we like.

As for the topic, I salute making Gnoblars T2 and giving their Sharp Stuff March and Fire.

I like most of this, bar the loss of big names and discontinuation of my favorite man eater.

But anyway glad to see Phil is being allowed to carry on with the ogres

    Re: New Ogre Rumours

Well one bonus is that ironguts get a 4+ save now, this is pretty good.

Bulls, I will probably still run naked or maybe give them light armor. In combat they would get a 4+ save as well with ironfists. Considering they might not have AP any more losing that wont matter as much.

There was no mention of a plastic character kit though, that makes me sad as I was hoping something like the empire kit would be awesome.

I picture the yetis as hairy river trolls, although they seem to be much improved i cant really see what I would drop for them.

Maneaters better be improved or reduced in points as there was no mention of them either rules wise.

I was hoping thundermace would stay as it is a cool item even if it misses all the time. Can anyone tell me what the minotaur banner does?

I just dont know how I am going to get all the stuff I want in an army without playing at huge points every game. O well I would rather have too many choices then not enough.

    Re: New Ogre Rumours

All this sounds good on paper. What I would like to know is the point cost for the units, but I guess that won't happen until the book is out.
