And yea, I figured as much mate its really stalling my progress though, I wanted to have the front rank done by now... Specialy since I also want a detachment of swordsmen ready...

Anyway you have to admit, models assembling themselves would be an awesome sight

Yeah, that would be cool. You could just imagine swordsmen working as a team, opening a new box, dragging the sprue out while greeting the heads on it then clipping all the parts off and arguing over how the instructions are meant to be followed!

Anyway..... I thought I updated a WIP update (and I had one typed out) but we had internet troubles when I did and when I found out I had already continued painting

Oh well il just show the WIP and completed pictures both then

Since this is the front rank ive painted every detail (or just about) and since the farther down I go in my ranks the less details il be painting the others will be painted alot faster

Ive also added a picture of the favorite mini from the front rank. Hes bare foot, has a booshy beard and hes not afraid of anything. Can just see him screaming "GET OFF MA LAWN!!!" right before he puts that halberd of his to good use

Cracking plog matey. Entertaining and well written. Love the theme. In fact, loving all the Empire plogs of late.
Don't let the amount of figures dishearten you. You could split them if it makes it easier but I always find it works better (for me anyway) to do them all in one go. True it's a bind, but I find it less of a bind than doing them all, only to effectively do them again. I think it's also quicker to do them in one go as well as you can do all the browns, all the reds etc. Just engage your tunnel vision, get some good music on and blast on through. You'll probably be surprised how far you get in a relatively short space of time. Anyhow, whatever works but do keep up the good work.

Your tunnel-fu is stronger then mine is jez. Ive tried the whole "paint them all in one go" approach and I was running around flailing my arms and spreading stark craving mad gibberish after the first 2-3 colours or so.

No, 5 models is the magic number for me Then that our approach is the same I also paint a colour on all 5, then go to the next colour until the models are done

Nice work on those Halberdiers! Painting such a large number can be daunting, believe me, I know... Still, good progress and nice results! The 'Get of my lawn' guy is cool, though he ought to be armed with a blunderbuss (although a halberd could probalby work as well)... Keep up the good work!

There's a blunderbuss on the militia sprue, I'm sure that would work a treat to make an interesting unit champion!

I also have the militia box sitting near my bits box and dident have a goal for most of the parts yet mostly though because my local gaming group probably wont be playing Mordheim

I was considering making some of the spare handgunner/crossbowmen into a handgunner detachment. Blunderbuss would be a cool champion

Ive completed the 5 extra models for the 2nd rank. Ive now got enough of the halberdiers done for the tale of X gamers. I think I should start focusing on the swordsmen detachment now... I think that if I wait till er... a few ahead or so il either end up pulling an all nighter or end up simply not having them finished

Ive included 2 pictures. First shows the 5 models and the 2nd a model that had lost its original head. Finding a suitable replacement in the greatswords bits I think he looks suitably grizzled

Head swapping is always fun, as long as it's just with your models. Anything else and you might just get in trouble for it!

Diablo has been as destracting as I inmagined! Curses! 10 more days to get 15 swordsmen and a WP painted.... Should be doable (read, should )

Already assembled some swordsmen and am going to the local GW for a game tomorrow tommorow against a buddy of mine whos looking to get into fantasy. We were going to play a 1000 points game but im considering asking him if 700 is ok to That way I can test out my tale of X gamer list

Yes, my models. I haven't met anyone and thought "Their head would look better on that body". Except for miniatures.
EDIT- And by miniatures I meant models not midgets. I imagine Warwick Davis has enough troubles without adding decapitation to the list.

Bah! Played a 1000 point game yesterday based on a random list that I made on the spot and er...

It went pretty well until turn 3 where I lost my greatswords and halberdiers (plus mage and WP, my only characters) in one turn the halberdiers were charged in the rear by a 50 point great eagle. Won combat due and he overran them since I rolled an 11 on their LD test At that point I had a unit of knights left to kill a great eagle, 5 of the IOB riders (bows and spears) and about 22-23 white lions

I hate games that are lost due to single lost dice rolls... Dont get me wrong, it was a sound move he made (somewhat of a gamble maybe) but the entire game was lost to a single failed LD test where if that dident happen the game could have gone either way. Please pardon me while im grumpy over dice screwing me over in game of chance

Ah yes, that can (and probably will) happen... A bold move on his side and a botched dice roll on your side, seems like the stuff of grudges to me... I still hope you had some fun despite losing to some pansy Elves and their pet bird

Well during that turnr I was seriously having a hard time... It wasent all bad though as it showed me the value of a rear charge from a flier and since I was already playing around with the idea of including a captasus in my list I think I now even see more merit for one

My buddy (the high elf player) now knows the merit on his white lions and I know what unit I will be nuking to oblivion with ranged shooting in the future when I have it (this list dident have any) since I was only playing with models that I currently had with me the list was also far from optimal. I already knew knights were a bad idea in a 1000 point list (1500 pts theyre somewhat viable) so I wasent really expecting the game to go my way either

On the other hand my opponents mage blew up (taking 11 lorthern seaguard and 16 halberdiers down with him) so I had magic superiority and still was unable to get spells off due to HORRIBLE dice rolls. (rolling 6 and 8 both on 4 dice to name just one example )

All in all an insightfull game for the high elf player and im trying to get him to play the game so in that regard its going fine. He enjoyed the game (until a point so did I ) and is looking to play it mroe frequently. So yay more games in the future
