the chimera is an ugly sculpt so not a fan of the miniature but it has a great paint job

I use both (sometimes even on the same sections, e.g. all of the wings was done with brush wet blending and the airbrush, but I always use paint thinner for whatever glaze technique I'm doing, whether it's airbrush or normal.

I'm working on a Necromancer, 2 more pieces of scenery, another dragon, and a chimera currently, and I've got another cockatrice on order, I'll get some pictures up soon, Auctions all ending tomorrow:

Like I said it's all on ebay, so if you're interested here's a link :Ebay Linky

Fingers crossed! The terrain and chars both see to be going with a similar interest, which I'm a little surprised about :s

    Fingers crossed!

I thought people might be interested in just how hectic my desk is currently :O (apologies for the distracting background, I've got a small room and didn't think to shift the canvases somewhere else pre-photograph as that's where they live until they get sold.)

Looking forward to being able to shift some of this (but not necessarily to carefully packing all of this lot, hopefully the same person will buy all of it so I only have to send one very well padded box ^_^)

To the right is stuff which is WiP:

Now: Important question, which I'd really appreciate some responses on, especially if you are, or have been a VC collector: what stuff from the new pre-order VC models do you guys think will sell the best, in particular do you think people will be too bothered about buying a new banshee or cairn wraith when they possibly already own models?

That's it for now, I'll get some decent photos of the finished Necromancer some time soon hopefully, just one last gratuitous plug for Ebay as it's the last day

The best? The new zombie dragon. Also the terrorgheist, people need the terrorgheist (there isn´t anything similar) and it´s a lovely model.

I think the terrorgeist would be the best one, as most VC collectors have been in the hobby for uite a few years already and own at least some wraiths.

But a banshee or few would sell quite well in my mind, the old ones are pretty bad.

    Cheers,

I'd say the Banshee because quite frankly it is a stunning model, and as Goat said the old models aren't so good. I think the terrogeist is going to be popular too, hopefully it will have good rules to supplement that awesome model.

Thanks loads for the responses guys, I think maybe I'll order 2 dragon kits and ake both as terrorgheists and 2 or so banshees!

I can't say how helpful it is for you to give me input on stuff like this! It also saves me from the horrible situation of selling a model for about £5.00 more than I bought it for etc because it's unpopular or whatever. I really appreciate the responses!

Any other opinions? Do you think the garden of morr scenery would be worth the time it'd take?

    Cheers @ all!

Here's another dragon, I tried to do a brighter base to contrast with it being so dark, all thoughts welcome!:

Hopefully I'll get some more stuff up this evening, more SoM terrain currently.

Very well painted Byron, really like the gore on the cockatrice as well very cool. How have the auctions been fairing so far or too early to tell at this stage?

Superb ork Byron, the painting is looking fantastic and the base on the dragon you have just finished looks superb.

One suggestion. The join showing on the dragons neck looks a little distracting. A little modelling putty to fill before undercoating may add more individual value to the model.

Apart from that minor critique, keep up the great work!

Thanks for your interest bud, the auctions all (except for the new dragon, which is up now) ended yesterday, they went quite well, the two stars of the show being the eternity stair and magewrath throne, it's the first time I've ever painted up scenery and I really enjoyed it, it made a change to use massive brushes and big washes and dips rather than the normal size 1 series 7 and airbrush

Thinking about it in ters of £per hour it's not amazing, but it's early days yet and I'm only going to get more efficient and be able to paint things either faster, or to a higher quality (maybe both!) as time goes on.

I think it's much more important than I originally thought to pick models which're either completely new/re-dos of very outdated old ones, OR good rules wise, ideally both. So hopefully that's where asking you guys on the forums what you think is best/will do well in auction etc will pay dividends

Thanks bud, I attempted to make the rock look like limestone, not quite sure how accurate it is, but it made a nice change at any rate!

The only way I'll get to do that is if it's as a result of a commission; I think the ideal time for the SoM auctions has passed now, so I'm going to concentrate on the stuff I'm doing for a client, and then the new vampire releases, which I'm really looking forward to painting!

More thoughts on what will do best from the new VC range are still welcome! At this moment in time I'm thinking:
    2 Terrorgheist
    1 Wrath
    2 Banshees
    1 Garden of Morr

    Maybe.....

This might assist with the sig stuff. If this isn't what you see then I'm not sure what you can do other than ask a moderator.

    Hope this helps.

I haven't seen the Terrorgheist, but I bet your style would do great service to the Wraith & Banshee.

I think you should've smoothed the gaps with green stuff, but otherwise I'm a bit in awe. Good painting, the dragons look natural in the photos. Being somewhat of a SoM fan, I enjoy this stuff, and especially the Eternity Stair. That one's well painted to say the least.

Cheers, that one sold quite well, tbh it's just such a brilliant piece it's hard not to let it paint itself!

Cheers for going to all of that effort bud, now I know that mine's wrong!

It may be a google chrome or ubuntu issue: my laptop's too old to run anything else effectively though!

Some great work in here! I myself am a more old school kind of guy when it comes to collecting, but your paintjobs makes these models look awesome. As for the signature problem, you do seem to be missing that option, I checked and for me its the second option under settings.. weird.

Hey Byron, I am on google chrome and have no problem, your sig link is clearly missing! PM a mod and they'll fix it.

Whilst I am dropping by, may I say your painting style is utterly gorgeous.
Yeah, we flew our space church across 500 light years to get to this planet taken over by the orks. Now we're going to drop from orbit in buckets and run out and shoot pistols and hit people in the head with chainsaws. Ultramarines!

    Thanks very much

Is there a list of Mods somewhere on the site (I'm technologically inept, you guys ay have guessed this by now)

    New Vampire stuff!
So I've constructed a necrogheist, I've no idea how to go about painting it, which is somewhat daunting, as I'm going to start in about 10 minutes!

As far as the construction goes it's a well made kit, however it is a lot more time consuming than other recent GW monsters (SoM Chimera, Dragon etc), it's got quite a lot of parts and layers to it, also the seal lines, rather than running helpful in crevices, or down the edge of pieces tend to dissect them, for example running all of the way down the spine, which is pretty fiddly to get into, i recommend a semi-rounded needle file if people have one.

Anyway, here's 2 banshees, I'm pretty happy with how the colours cae out on the robes, given that it was complete guesswork I got what I was aiming for, making the hair bright was incredibly faffy, about 10 thin coats of skull white as a base to make sure it came out bright!:

Also here's a couple of pics of what's been occupying me prior to the VC:

(No matt varnish on this in pic)

Painting looks good, just that the gaps in the dragons neck are a huge minus!

Banshee looks good although I would highlight the hair with some red/orange/vomit brown mix, looks too simple.
