Definitely more of a chaos dwarf.
I like the style of the sculpt, not sure about the pose, though. It makes him look like he is surrendering.
If you play any of Mantic's games, check out my Battlescribe project for KoW and Warpath.
Oh....great. Another Dwarf. I know Felix likes Dwarfs but this getting a little silly.
As to the sculpt itself, I really do not like that pose at all, and the face looks strangely flat and artificial.
I think the mask needs a little work, but other than that I like him. He reminds me of that Grim runemaster from the 5th edition army book, but with a mask. The cape and thrown-back head give him a sense of motion, like he's shouting into the wind in an 80's rock video. In fact, if his staff were a guitar it would be perfect...
If he's cheap enough in US dollars, I'll get him.
Well it should be hard to get a dynamic dwarf, this one is. But the mask makes him look off, it looks sinister to me. I do like the beard whipping around though.
As for the guitar, he should be on his knees for that. This pose screams (evil) druid to me.
I think it depends on his rules within Arena Deathmatch, but most likely I will get one for my dwarven AoW collection.
I like it:-)
Now if he only could start using Resin instead of metal..
I like it too, better than GWs crappy dwarfs.
When you say "resin" Tonny you don't mean that crap GW use for Finecrap do you?
Well I only have the Empire Captain with Great hammer in Finecast so far. I am planning to order a box of finecast Blood Knights in the near future.
I have the same empire captain in metal and the finecast arm with great weapon fitted better than the metal one. The detail is the same. There were no miscasts. I am only a bit affraid for the two daggers in the feather, but that's the same for the metal one.
So for now I have no problems with Finecast.
But for Avatars of War, I am thinking more about resin as used by Warhammer Forge. I've ordered all the empire stuff except the Landship and resin is much, much better than metal imo ofcourse.
Plastic, than Resin, than Finecast and than metal.
A matter of personal taste, but I don't like that it looks pretty much like a sorcerer...I prefer the dwarven craftsman approach. On top of that it's a bit too chaotic for a "regular" Dwarf.
I fear this is the first Dwarf sculpted by Felix I don't seem to like.![]()
It is awesome. However, I won't use it as a Dwarf Runesmith, but instead with some minor conversions as a Chaos Dwarf Sorceror (an eight-pointed star of lightning bolts are already in place). For Chaos Dwarfs, he's perfect.
However, Felix Paniagua should switch the name "Runepriest" for "Wizard". GW IP and looking like a wizard explains why.
I've received the following press release from Felix
-------------------------------------------------------
Our Dwarfs range is expanded with a new hero, a Dwarf Rune Master.
The model, sculpted by Felix Paniagua, shows the Dwarf sorcerer imbued in magic energy, in the process of casting a spell.
The model is based on conceptual art by Wayne England. Diego Gisbert is the author of the colour illustration for the blister card.

Hastings does your bitterness towards GW have to be heard all the time.
Anyway. By all that is holy i can't find anything good to say about this model. The pose is horrible, the staff is cheesy, and the mask is horrific. This is definitely a step down for avatars of war.
I dislike GWs recent Dwarfs, all of them without exception look like short fat humans, not a seperate species of humanoid, to me the perfect dwarf would be just like the ones by Red Box Games and the talented Tre Manor.
As for the resin comment, I don't need to defend that at all!!! LOL!!!
I like the pose on this mini, in fact the only thing I'm not keen on - and it's only since you pointed it out - is the mask. Other than that IMO another affordable and quality addition to the AoW range.
I love the pose, looks like he is channeling a great amount of mystical energies.

Hell no to resin, I want metal from AoW.
Giving it some time I must say I quite like the model, it is a nice and fresh aproach to a dwarf (modelwise). Even the mask is good, because I would not want it as a screaming dwarf.
This one is on the get list for sure.
I think Wayne England's style is coming through with the mask and staff, now that I know he did the concept art. I don't mind the mask, but I'd do some conversion on the staff to make it a great hammer I think. He'd look sweet mounted with Thorek's anvil.
I had a dwarf army back in the 90s, I'm sure the runesmiths then had staves. Overall I think it's quite a nice model, but I think the arms might be a little long for a dwarf.

Excellent chaos dwarf sorceror.
