    Night Lords warband

After spending a lot of time painting Thousand Sons and Possessed and Spawn I have become a bit bored of the process! So I have decided to put them aside to concentrate on working on my Night Lords.

I enjoy mixing and matching kits to make up the guys and kit bashing to make things no one else has. So there will be a lot of this in the army.

    First up, 2 finished Obliterators.

Nothing all that special, but fun to make! First time I have really tried using green stuff for more than gap filling, i think it shows but I'm not too worried for a gaming force.

Have started 4 more and hope to have finished modelling them by the end of the weekend!

4 more Oblits in progress; all joints are double pinned, the chest is spaced up from the legs with the grabby pincer things from the vindicator cannon shell assembly, the feet are chunked up with a slice of 1mm plasticard and greenstuff brings it all together.

These are half greenstuffed so far.

This guys started out as a free imperial termie on the front of a WD from memory. He also has armpit guns!

Parts from Defiler kit, and arms spaced out with search light bits.

needing the most work of the four...

The plan is to finish the greenstuff work and have them undercoated by the end of the weekend

The Obliterators are a lot of fun, and look excellent painted. I'm especially fond of the Raptor Champions, specifically the one with the Knight helmet. Really excited to see what your painting skills do to him.

many thanx rosja, i like to keep it bold and simple, i love the weathered / nmm / bloodied and other styles but don't have the skills for that.

cheers AtmanAbecedarian, the champs will be up and on the paint stations after the rest of the oblits, so that will be next weekend if all goes to plan, the hardest thing i have to do is decide on power weapon and deamon weapon coloring for the champs and Lord.

If you are taking opinions, I would say purple would be an awesome way to go with the power weapons. It would give them a dark, menacing, Nightlords look I think. Otherwise you can go with the color wheel and make them orange. Making these choices is never easy, lol.

Always interested in constructive opinions and criticisms!

Purple would be very fitting, I was thinking of doing robes and tabbards in dark purple though (not set in stone), and I also have a small black legion force with a sorcerer in it with a purple force sword. so might try the orange.

Purple would work well with the blue armour and is appealing. I think orange will work well with the red wings / horns / mutations. Might have to try both and see how it goes!

Your kit bashing/greenstuff sculpting is awesome! Paint job tops them off well too.

Amazing stuff, great obliterators! Do you make them and just green stuff around the models then?

Great models, great conversion skill. My only point of criticism would be that fluff wise, the NL are not that hot on demonic possession. But then again, who cares, its your army.

thanks mate, yeah all i bought was a pack of greenstuff, a box of chaos termies and the lord so i could have 2 x 3 or 3 x 2 oblits. The rest is from my bits box and some leftovers from my mates orks.

It is a simple process of drilling and pinning the joints with spaces around a millimeter or so between them or such as with the guy with the armpit guns, plastic glueing things in between joints, and then bulking up the gaps with greenstuff.

I think I have a before shot somewhere, will see if i can find it and post up a pre greenstuff oblit.

Thanks Base, true with the fluff point, for this warband, a Deamon Weapon, once owned by a keeper of secrets is now in the possession of the Chaos Lord and he and his bodyguard and closest lieutenants are slowly being corrupted by it.

The rest of the army i plan to have totally corruption free and have some blood angels, black templars bits as well as CSM bits for the troops. should provide for a nice mash up!

This stuff is very nicely done. The greenstuffing on the obliterators is especially effective.

oblit progress! not a great photo, but creation faze done, basecoating in progress!

Defiler Knight, experimental leadership class pattern.

this has been a very successful weekend! I can only hope to finish off another 2 oblits during this week, though more likely only going to get one done and maybe another next weekend. :/

you should make one (or 3)!!!, not the easiest things to balance and I dislike doing the legs, but they look damn cool and clean out the bits box as well!

General update! have received a bits order from the US with Furioso Dread Arms and will be combining with a second hand, stripped down Black Templars Forge World Dread will post a pic ASAP!
