    Dark Eldar Painting Project

Too many minis, not enough time.

I made an Excel Worksheet that keeps track of Painted minis, Assembled Minis, and the un-assembled minis. Currently, I'm at 4k painted, 3k assembled, and 1k still in boxes waiting assembly.

So mostly I want to show off what I've got painted as I get them painted and get feed back on the paint jobs.

I've been playing Dark Eldar since the first release all those years ago, so many of my models are the original range and will stay that way, tons of my mini's are conversions, and I take in some of the new range as well.

    Head Quarters

    Haemonculus

The Heamis' I use are a combination of my love for old models + the desire to save money. I had already converted Grotesques & Wracks before the new models were released. So with no idea what the new Liquifier would look like I just maintained the old design. So when I got to finally see the "actual" new Haemonculus model I had some issues. First; Cost, Second; Lack of different poses, Third; its Liquifer doesn't match the Liquifiers on my Wracks or Grotesques. So since I had no use for the new Wracks, seemed like a good idea to hack off the Liquifiers from my old Haemi's and Glue them onto the Resin Wrack models.

Straight forward model. Hellion with a really old chaos Warriors Cape, and spare Archon Helm.

    Duke Picture

    Archon Picture

Both the Duke and the Archon are the same model, I just magnitized him so I can build just about any Combination of weapons a Archon could have.

    Elite

    Incubi

I use the old Incubi mostly because I own a good 9 that I spent alot of time converting and painting, and I really don't run them that much.

Once we were given "poison gun" rules. I felt I needed to find a way to represent it in the painting of the models. The grooves in rifles, cannons, pistols, pods, & shard carbines I paint Scorpion Green and Gloss to look like poison. I imagine the ammunition fires through the poisonous goo before coming out the end of the barrel.

    Troops

    Kabalite Warriors

I still use the old Warriors for my base troops. For one I own around 100 of the old guys and have about 30 of them painted, so time and money were saved by still using these. For a 2nd reason to keep these they give a distinct difference between my Troop Warriors and my Elite Trueborn (which use new Kabalite warriors)

    Warrior /w Rifle Picture

    Warrior /w Splinter Cannon Picture

    Warrior /w Blaster Picture

This model is actually a conversion. The Blaster is off the old Wych model /w blaster. Since wyches can no longer carry them I hacked it off and glued it here. Much better then the official Warriors /w blaster which held it like a Heavy Weapon over his shoulder.

    Wyches

I use the old metal wyches. First because I own around 50 of them. 2nd I really do prefer the old model. I loved the almost naked gladiator look, especially when they start tearing space marines down. 3rd it allows me to have a drastic different look between my Troop Wyches and Elite Bloodbrides (which will be new wave wyches).

The majority of my wyches have gone through some level of conversion. Usually as simple as removing the Weapon wyches no longer have options for (Falchion & Razorsnare, hydra knives, Shredders, & Blasters) and replacing them with regular weapons or the new Wych weapons.

This hexatrix is the old Lilith model slightly converted.

    Fast Attack

    Beastmasters

I knew I had to bring the cost of this unit down. I knew I wanted a full squad 5x Masters, 10x Khymeras, and 6x Flocks. ($288.50 retail). Luckily I already owned 6 old warp beasts, so purchased 4 more old warp beast for about $16, + spent $20 for 3x old Hellions, and 2x hellion boards which I converted some spare wyches to be the riders. I couldn't find a cheaper solution for Flocks so I buckled and bought the new GW ones.

I choose a Parrot paint scheme. It tickled me that the flocks don't look dangerous, that is until they reach combat and they start destroying even terminators.

    Heavy Support

    Reaper

Wait, Forge World made a Dark Eldar model that isn't absolute complete waste of resin? Heck yes, I'll buy it.

    Miscellaneous

    Objective Markers

Once we got the new book and I saw that Vect was no longer a Ravager/Dreadnought, I pulled these gals off the model to give them a new use.
