    Localicious Orcs & Goblins

    Greetings every one. Welcome to my Orcs & Goblins projectlog.

    This is in fact my second plog. My first log is pretty messy and hasn't been updated for a very long time. It contained both my Waaagh, my Dwarf and a bunch of wip stuff.

    So I've decited to make two sepperate logs and keep them nice and tidy (Dwarf Log will be created as soon as the guys are ready for a photoshoot)

    This regiment is not complete yet. And worse, I've payed no attention to their posing, when it comes to lining them up, when I assembled them. So a few of them dont rly fit in ~~;;

    The colouring on your Orcs is amazing! Their skin tone is beautiful. Next to them, your Troll looks kind of... bland... The skin just doesn't look very nice compared to how awesmoe your Orcs look. Maybe it's just the lighting though...

    On the subject of posing;
    Line them up so that they neatly fit. This will take a while but once you have, you can get to work on making it easier.

    Now number them on the bottom of their bases. This way, next time you rank them up, you just look at the numbers.

    EDIT: Do tell me the recipe for the Orc skin!

    Re: Localicious Orcs & Goblins

    When I took these photoes, I realized that I forgot to paint the eyes on the Blorcks. It's a bit annoying, but I will have it done and put up some new pics then.

    And a little note on the red skin:
    As you may have noticed from the Boar riders, I'm getting a little inspiration from a certain mmorpg ~~;;
    I'm having an idea, that these guys have been injected with Wyvyrn blood, making them even tougher - and turning their skin red apparently I'm thinking about converting some kind of Mad scientist to complete the story

    I'm not too fond of the Troll and Black Orcs, but otherwise the painting is superb.

    Seriously good painting holmes.

    I quite like the alternate scheme on your orcs (although being an Evertonian I would prefer them to be blue ). I think maybe iron armour would make them seem more orthodox as the green almost strikes a chord of disharmony making them seem inside out. However its good to see some fresh ideas on the old greenskins.

    Your Boar boyz look the business mate.

    Good stuff.

    Great painting all round, very nice looking unit you have there. Love the boar boy with the white eye, nice touch.
    I'm not to keen on the troll, it doesn't feel like it fits with the overall muted tones of the army, but on the other hand I think the red works for the black orcs - definitely think you should go for a nutty professor too

    Re: Localicious Orcs & Goblins

    the orcs, and goblins are greatly painted, but i didn't like the red effect on the flesh i think they need some dark brown for shadowing, cause like now is like they don't have shadows.

    or so i think.

    great plog.

    look for example this ones

    http://www.coolminiornot.com/216630

    the darker part of the red is made with some socrhed brown + blood red, easy and gives more deep to the face

    also this one was made that way.

    I like it nice painting overall. I chuckled when I saw the banner. Its a stretch, but fluff wise couldn't you just say the black orcs are from the fel horde?

    Wow, I'm not a big fan of O&G, but these guys are stunning. The addition of the red is excellent. Am especially fond of the blorks,very very nice.

    very nice stuff here, particularly the boar boyz. i'll second the request for the orc skin recipe (and the goblin one come to that). also the armour on the boar boys and the boars themselves!

    i think the red skinned blorcs (or any alternate skin colour O&G) will always provoke a love/hate type response. personally i'm not a fan, but kudos for trying it. on a purely asthetic thing the armour is done great, but as said above the skin lacks something. don't know if it works but maybe using some dark green in the shading might work? (you can use red to shade green skin so presumably it works in reverse?? or maybe not)

    Best Orcs and Goblins I've seen yet and there are some very nice ones on this site. I would agree that the Troll looks slightly bland compared to the rest of the army though. I love how realistic and gritty the army looks while at the same time the painting is so incredibly neat and precise. It almost looks like a scene from a WH film I think - fantastic. I particularly like the spider riders and the red black orcs, I think the contrast of the red and their green armour works perfectly and I'm extremely envious of your painting!! Looking forward to seeing more!

    Re: Localicious Orcs & Goblins

    @Daniel36: Thanks! I agree on the trolls skin. To be honest, I went for the easiest solution when I painted him. The Orc skin takes a very long time, so I was kind of hesitant to paint that much skin that way :P So I tried something different and painted with a sponge. Carefully - but obviously the details are ruined with that technique. So yeah, not my best piece of work.
    And about the numbering, great idea : D dno why I never thought of that. I still need to paint a few more Boyz, so I guess I can just pose them so they fit the rest. Thanks.

    @Karak Norn Clansman: Thank you – and as mentioned above, the troll is a little fail : )

    @The Yak: Thanks, and ye I see your point ; )

    @Elfboy: Thank you! And about the professor , I'm starting to look around for interesting bits for him, please let me know if you have any ideas

    @Ekxw: I agree with you on the Blorcs , when I think about it. Actually I haven't used any brown in the mix- mb I should. I just went for Scab red → Blood red. Do you think I can brown wash it, as they stand now? I fear that the red on the edges will get a “funny” color?

    @Queenkvondrak: Thanks – and yes, those are the ones ; ) I'm not sure I understand your point about the banner(?)

    @Pumpavius: Thank you!

    @Morten C: Thanks : )

    @eltanko: Thank you very much! It's fun to see how different ppl react to those Blorcs : )

    @castlesmadeofsand: Thank you! I hate to (maybe?) disappoint you, but the mail armor is just Boltgun + Badab : ) On some of the pieces, I added a little Devlan mud around “bolts” – the guy on the brown/white boar, and the horn blower as examples.
    The Bronze (I painted these a fairly long time ago). Let me think.. Mix of scorched + Dwarf Bronze as base colour. Then, if I remember correctly, I put on some badab black, waited for it to dry, then sponged either a light mix of Scorhed + bronze, or just clean bronze on the edges, and then another go with the badab – to make it as grimy as pos, but still some bright color on the edges. (wauw that was messy, sry I can't remember it exactly. I will pay attention next time I paint bronze, and then let you know )
    Again – agree on the lack of depth on the Blorc skin.It sounds very interesting indeed with the red/green shading! Do you have an example of that method? Would very much like to see!

    @Charterhouse: Wauw, thank you very much for the kind words! Agree on the troll : ) And ye I am aiming for a grimy look on the armor all round, so I'm glad you like it. And you will definitely see more I have some stuff coming up.

    To all who requested recipes: The Orc skin. I've been looking through my recipes, and it seems I've changed it a bit since the first Orcs I made. If you look at the third picture of the Orc boys (the guy with the rusty spear), hes the latest I've painted, and if you like it, heres the recipe:
    1.Catachan green
    2.Catachan + Camo green, 5 – 3
    3.Add 2 x Camo
    4.Add 2 x Camo
    5.Add 2 x Rotting Flesh
    6.Add 2 x Rotting Flesh
    7.Rotting Flesh alone, on the high edges.
    (The prior version goes: Cata. Cata/Camo 5-3. Add 2 Camo, add 2 Rotting, add 2 Rotting. Rottin alone. But tbh I like the latest better. Try which ever you like)

    The Goblin skin is a little more simple, and I don't have the exact measurements. But it goes
    1.Catachan green.
    2.Add some white
    3.Add more more white
    4... a little more white
    and that's about it.

    By the way, I am surprised no one questioned the mushrooms – not often you see shrooms in the winter I realized it too late to be arsed to change it.

    Thanks again for all the C&C.
    Have a wonderful day.

    NO just make the mix of scorched brown + blood red, 50% mix , 50% water , and just apply it on the deeper part as easy as applying the wash but you will have way more control.

    and the red in the edges gives the miniature a good highlight, I use to make the last highlight with blood red + blazing orange.

    just try it a little more some sample

    http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/6073/p1030375c.jpg

    and if you have a lot of patient you could do some thing like this from blood red + scorched brown to blood red

    sorry ofr kidnapping the plog, these are just some ideas of how to make the flesh look more deep
