    Re: Nagash Immortal

She had a god awful 28mm sculpt of her and a cat released?

...I believe she fled north into the proto-Empire and set up residence in a range of mountains where she recreated her court with other Lahmian vampires and undead constructs (the name of the area escapes me - Silver something???)...

Reasons not to hate Mat Ward #112: Mr Ward speaks fluent Jokaero and spent time in the Balikpapan Orangutan Sanctuary developing a realistic syntax & verb structure - Ook ok ook!

    The Silver Pinnacle?

Anyone else miffed that Nagash Immortal completely ommitted Vashenesh from the story?

Conversely, the final chapters (rushed though they were) were exactly like the fluff from the old Undead army book, right down to the precise details of Alcadizzars moment of glory.

Nagash66 - It's quite surprising, given how much he dwelled on the vampire side of things in Nagash Immortal that such a key figure would be ommitted entirely.

So no mention of the ring, or Nagash attempt to control the vampires and their rebellion?

Nothing. The last we hear of that side of things is Neferata and her kin fighting to defend Lahmia from Alcadizzar. they lose but it is never described what happens to them.

the only vamp who features with any great prominence is W'soran and admittedly there is some nice jealousy/ treachery between him and Arkhan, both looking to gain Nagash's favour.

    Re: Nagash Immortal

When u read it I was thinking how old are these blooming skaven.

Compared to the first two books I didn't like it, I thought it felt a bit rushed at the end and that it could of been split into two books allowing more of a story to be told.

In the old fluff Nagash's war on the living was more than a single campaign a few months long. I got the impression from the old fluff that Alcadizzar fought a long and hard battle over many years to defeat Nagash's invading army.

Could just be me though I just didn't get the epic struggle to save humanity feel that I was expecting.

    Re: Nagash Immortal

I finished this last weekend and thought it was a very good read. It helps to have an open mind with respect to the old background- for example, re-reading Liber Necris from the perspective of it being written by Vlad von Carstein, it does sound very propaganda-y, especially the way he bigs up Vashanesh. Seems that Vashanesh is just a made-up Messianic hero of the von Carsteins after all!

I liked that Alcadizaar was directly tied in to the great ritual, and a lot of the rest of it was very well thought-out. I have to agree though, using the same Skaven and having themsurvive throughout seemed a bit off though!

    Re: Nagash Immortal

Good point Tregar - I agree that making Alcadizaar a vital part of the great ritual added something to the background without taking away from the integrity of it.

I also enjoyed W'soran's many futile attempts to resurrect Nagash (and the pain he caused the dead every time he mentioned the Usurper's name), without realising he still lived.

Still would have preferred a longer more expansive ending - as I said on another forum, I can't help but feel Mike was just getting into the swing of things when some BL editor started hovering over him, tutting at the page count and tapping irritably at a wristwatch...

    Re: Nagash Immortal

Yeah it does churn through the ultimate destruction of Nehekhara rather quickly! It was cute when they did this to Alcadizaar after escaping from the Temple of Blood, with two lines covering months of zany adventures, but some more detail on the final encounters would have been nice!
