Hello friends,

Finally came round to dig up some old 2nd ed. Chaos minis and paint them in the 1996 Black Legion scheme (well, almost). Fond memories.

I hope I can turn this in a genuine blog, because I've learned my attention span is that of a 4 year old when it comes to painting armies.

The two skull faced chaps are very nice , and are a refreshingly different look for black legion.

Really good look, the Orange is a great touch. Nice to see some oop models getting some love. The skull and hood guys look great too.

Thanks a lot brothers. I really love those old Chaos marines, maybe even more than back in the day. So full of character even if some of the poses are a bit static. But that's probably me being prone to nostalgia

I'm planning to give them more of a Sons of Horus vibe (though I don't really know how as yet). Seems really appropriate for these older looking armor marks. Painting them is really much more time consuming than the modern plastics though. Even these lowly marines are crammed with details.

woo old school style black legion! love the yellow, have always thought it really makes a BL model standout from all that black.

Those were exactly my thoughts Latro. I really love black models, but could never get them looking right on the tabletop. They lack contrast and very quickly end up looking like a mass of models that are only primed black.

I always found the orange of the second ed BL models a nice touch, because it simulates some kind of unknown energy pumping through the power cables. Darrrk energy muhahaha

These models and that colour scheme really brings back the memories Base - really nice job so far. Loving that orange contrast as well - can't wait to see more.

After an hour taking pics on our attic, here's an update.

... some closeups and upcoming stuff. A nice old style metal sorceror with an extra large swordthing and a newer plastic termie. These Horus Heresy style shoulderpads and helmets are from Maxmini.eu, really cool stuff. Makes the termies just a little les spikey and a little more sinister. And I hope they convey a nice Heresy feeling to them.

Here's to hoping I won't open that box of Black Templar accessories I bought yesterday and will start painting the Black Legion like the good servitor I am!

This plog is very promising indeed, I love the old school take on the Black Legion. I gotta tell you though, I'm kinda expecting to see the big guy himself soon (Abbadon of course ) oldschool colours and all

You got me thinking Damned Artificer. Abaddon, why not! Had him lying around somewhere (How dare I speak of the Archenemy of Mankind like that, he never just lies around), so I took out the old superglue and put him together.

I always shunned form building/painting Abby because of the insane level of detail. So maybe I won't tackle him immediately. :-s

.. And two personal favorites resulting from my modest building spree this weekend. A champion-like dude I just *had* to call Bolf the Slaughterer (loin cloth is from Maxmini and attached with milliput).

Second up the good old metal dread with a new headpiece and nice WFB beastmen banner. The head is a shoulder guard form a WFB chaos knight).

Let the meat grinder grind on..
