    It is indeed!

Now I can safely tell you about my army goal this year. I'm trying to get at least a playable and painted 1500-ish list ready before my second child gets born - a little girl round the 15th of november. That will put a huge dent in my painting schedule, no mistake!

So maybe you guys can give me some army advice as I have not played 40k since the start of 3rd edition.. Omg! What does this army still need, what do I need to paint asap? Currently the army consists of:

    Abaddon
    1x sorceror
    5x termies (combimelta, chainfist, reaper)
4x10 squads of basic marines, with some PFs, PWs, 4x melta and 4x plasma
    2x Rhino
    3x Dreadnought

I was thinking some extra combiweapon termies, a basic lord, maybe a daemon prince and of course as much cool Dark Vengeance stuff as I can paint! 2,5 months left and the clock is ticking..

Oh man, the eyes on those Rhinos are stunning. To be honest, most BL tanks I come across are boring. Rhinos are usually boring, period. Fantastic work, those Rhinos not only have excellent paintjobs, they have a lot of character without being overly gaudy. Extra cool points for not gluing a spike strip on every available surface, which happens way too often.

Your banners and Eye logos look fantastic, this is totally making me consider painting up some black legion guys with the new starter box.

:-) You are right of course Lord Commander. Have been in a kind of motivational slump these last weeks. After a good year of painting BL, I find it hard to do yet more black guys with gold rimmed armor. Hoping for the codex to reinvigorate my painting mojo!

Still, got some termies in the works though.

diddo, between a bad cold, an infected slice on my forearm from rugby, and a subsequent sepsis and really bad, emergency room worthy, allergic reaction to antibiotics, I have slowed down considerably. But luck would have it, that now that I'm almost better, school was cancelled today due to a typhoon, and I've almost finished another biker. Update later tonight.

slumps are murder, especially when you have a large plan... I gotta get all my stuff done before the new chaos kits start dropping! 1 and 1/2 bike riders, 1 bike, and 6 Iron warriors.

Re: BasetheRuins 2nd Ed Black Legion

It's a rainy Sunday in Holland, so time for a small update. Finally finished some more terminators, which makes eight total terminators in my army now. Even though I felt like it took forever to complete them, I'm still pleased. Chaos terminators are just such an iconic unit for the Black Legion. I gave these guys a combination of combimeltas and chainfists, just to add some oomph to my existing termie squad.

Now, on to the Dark Vengeance set! The mixed bag of current releases will at least prevent me from running to the store immediately. So. I guess that could be a good thing after all.

    Gorgeous work as always!

I forget, did you go into details on your black recipe? I feel like you did at some point but I can't seem to find it. That blue-grey tinge really sets your BL apart... it's an excellent contrast with the old-school orange.

Those terminators are really nice, you really have legion's finest. Do you mind if I try to copy that orange on a wolf/hound/beast model I'm going to use as a spawn?

    Thanks guys

The black recipe is actually very simple.. Just a 2 step edge highlight with Privateer Press P3 greatcoat grey (first layer) and greatcoat grey and some white (second layer). Greatcoat grey is indeed a blueish grey and provides a necessary contrast to all the warm colours.

And off course you can use the orange recipe for your models Runepriest. Go for it! Who am I to tell you what to do with your models? And I only copied the scheme from back then, so..

Now deciding on what to do next! The heldrake seems to be growing on me, I might just cave in any moment. Prreciousss...

Such a great army, and homage to the 2nd edition colours.

I love the Abaddon update, and your 2nd edition models blend in well with the new ones.

The Heldrake has obviously laid eggs in you if your growing to like it(as it did with me) can't to see what you do with the dark vengeance models

like the rhinos, but like the termies even more, despite their lack of orange for that old school look you've got going on some guys.

Cheers, I'll have to try the greatcoat grey! I've been using skavenblight dinge and it doesn't have the same kind of depth.

Have you decided yet how you're going to base these guys?
