A good book for the summer holidays?

    Greetings all,

In a few weeks I will embark on my summer holiday, and I need a good book (or two or thee; I'm a fast reader) for those relaxing moments.

Since I'm quite a Warhammer fluff nut (but never actually read a BL novel), I thought a Warhammer novel might be nice.

So does anyone have a good recommendation?

Get the Malus Darkblade omnibuses - complete story, no waiting around for months for the next instalment, and (in my humble opinion) very good reads.

Time of Legends triliogies are also pretty good, worth a look for your first WFB novels.

I'm currently rereading the Blackhearts omnibus, really good dark-humored Empire anti-hero series. As others have said too, I would also recommend the Sigmar time of legends series, or the Malus Darkblade series as well.

I've read Grey Seer (about skaven Grey seer thanquol) and laughed my guts out.

Also the skaven feature prominently in the second Gotrek & Felix book (and you don't actually really need to read the first to understand whats happening, as the premise is simple enough; gotrek is a slayer, and felix a poet documenting his epic saga.) called 'Skavenslayer' and I don't think I have ever enjoyed reading a book more than that one.

In my local game store I saw the Dwarf Omnibus. I like the dwarf background and it was quite cheap of an omnibus, but it it a good read too?

I liked the Dwarf books. They're not amazing reads, but if you're into your dwarf stuff (or like a varied cast up to something in the Warhammer World) then they're really fairly decent and quite subdued. For it's price, it's an absolute bargain.

    Other ones I'd recommend:
    - The Adventures of Florin and Lorenzo
    - The Storm of Magic novellas, the first two are very decent
    - Wulfrik is excellent, IMO. Gives a very nice tour of the Warhammer World indeed.
    - Gotrek & Felix books are always very entertaining, even if not always the best books ever.

Though the ToL books are decent, each of the trilogies are very different. For myself, I think the Sundering trilogy are by far the best with the Sigmar ones being the worst...but other folks disagree, so who am I to say!

If you're interested in 40k, though, I've had a good response on reading these three as a 'loose' trilogy, back to back: A Thousand Sons, Prospero Burns and Battle of the Fang. (I read 'em all separately and loved 'em, except maybe 50 pages at the start of PB, I wish I'd been able to zip through them all at once.)
