    New Treeman Model

I am not sure if this has been posted but have been looking on various other forums and have seen several rumors about a new giant treeman model that is supposed to be being released just wondering if anyone has any information regarding this. Thanks

Hastings has confirmed this. No one has hinted as to when it will appear though.

I would if I could find it. But it was a random post in a thread and to be honest I don't have the time to search!

Yeah thats the one Tymell. Other rumours (although this is may be wishlisting) are saying there may be a new WE book sometime next year, if that is the case I can't see us getting a new treeman untill the book. Plus the current treeman is now finecast so it doesn't look hopefull that a new model will be released too soon.

New Treeman? Fantastic if it comes with a new army book, otherwise I'm gonna guess it's chances of profit might be quite low.

Hopefully he will look more like a giant Dryad and unlike the poor current Treekin and Treeman models by Trash Carden.

Oh I don't know, it is one of only 3 competitive units in the WE book...

The plastic LotR Ent is pretty good in my estimation, it'll be hard for them to top that.

Well if it follows models like the araknoroch,, sphinx and cockatrice I would get atleast one.
The only problem I have with the LoTR ent is that it is a pain to put together, but otherwise it is a great model.

I actually think the current treeman model is quite excellent. Not too fond of the treekin though, but I guess that's more due to the (lack of) concept than the models.

To tell the truth, I had so many problems painting many of the wood elf miniatures that many people on this board hold to be "excellent" that I consider the treeman to be one of the best in the range.

Don't get me started on warhawk riders, glade riders, eternal guard or wardancers.

But is there a demand for it? I think it'll be hard to top the LotR Ent and I don't really see the need if they can't do a dual kit out of it TBH. Though a rules update much like the one for VC in WD would sure be appreciated (not that I don't think its current rules aren't OK).

+1 Satan, and add new Waywatchers and Wild Riders to the list for me (although I actually quite like the Wardancers). I am not a big fan of much of the 7th ed Wood Elf range, which is why most of my models are from 5th or earlier.

Incredibly exciting news about Treeman though. My guess would be that it would be delayed until the book is released, but not necessarily of course. My only minor complaint is the news appears a few days after I purchased my second Durthu from ebay... :P

Moving this to general is a shame. It is only the semantics of the first post.

If the OP had said 'solid tree man rumour ... confirmed by Hastings ... Discuss'
    It would have been fine.

I also heard about a big plastic tree. When I heard about this the way it was described it sounded so big I assumed it was a scenery piece. I was quite surprised when Hastings told me it was a treeman. But then 'the oak of ages' was mentioned so that may have thrown me slightly.

Also, they could pull a Terrorgeist/Herowraith before they release the model, and either add a new type of Uber-Legendary Chthonic Treegod unit, and/or update the current Treeman rules.

Hmmmm, if it's really that humongous/distinct from average Treemen I think it might be even more suitable for the Terrorgeist treatment.

    Re: New Treeman Model

I had not heard of this. Rather exciting.

I guess I am one of the few that actually like the Treekin models, though I do have to admit that, especially considering the price, they can easily be scratchbuilt with some twigs and greenstuff and hold the exact same aesthetics as the original models. But still, I do like them.

I would not mind a new Treeman model. I might even go as far as to create a Tree Spirit list when it comes out. I already have the original Treeman, which can work well as a regular one, where the big one will be an Ancient.

It's funny. Just when I got absolutely sick with GW, they manage to reel me right back in with the Garden of Morr, the excellent new undead models, even though I don't collect them, and now this news.

Would anyone (in the know or otherwise) like to surmise when the treeman might be released?

My spontaneous guess from this would then be, owing to recent trend and to distinguish from existing products the following:

    - We'll get a large Treeman on a large base like the Zombie Dragon/Arachnarok with rules in WD.
Plog of Jericho - Wood Elves, Daemons, Beastmen, CSM and Whatnot.

    Re: New Treeman Model

Do you know what would be really cool? If high elves could use WD rules for treemen too. I've always wanted one in my army... Am waiting for a model update first before i get one though, it looks ok but a little dated IMO unfortunately.
