Angry Dugaal - Warp Kings CSM

    Greetings Warseer!
In the grand tradition of unfinished Logs (I moved! My old stuff is in another country I swear!) I have started a new Chaos list:

    The Warp Kings

    Background
The Warp Kings are a renegade horde gathered from those in the Eye with a great will against Chaos; Not, however, those too timid to demand its gifts...

Their founder, Almega of the Black Legion, strove for Daemonhood without sacrificing his Soul to Chaos. Many who mocked the gods with similar demands received violent and self-inflicting mutations. Indeed Almega's war for both worldly power and that of the Gods was hard fought, and many such 'gifts' were amputated or replaced with bionics. Ultimately his conquests redeemed him to the gods. (his desecration of the holy site on Minathra IV, and the destruction and turning of the Iron Mantis Chapter to name a few) His strength and skill elevated to equal that of a Daemon Prince.

His followers are equally compelled to control their destinies. Followers are picked from the last-standing members of Butchered Warbands and other worthy adversaries found in the warp. These Traitors are pitted against Chaos spawn in unarmed combat, as a test of their mastery over the whims of the Gods. If they survive, the tenants of the Warp Kings are laid out for them and it is their choice to join the ranks.

    Philosophy
The Warp Kings make pacts with the Gods at will with no loyalties but to themselves. They employ Sorcerers adept at shaping the will of chaos to help guide their mutations, never willing to settle for the inclinations of the Gods, and always with the strength of will to keep their minds intact. They are always prepared to amputate and butcher their own flesh if it proves undesirable, leading to a heavy use of Bionics.

List (after much deliberation and enticement to add raptors)

    Kharn
    8 Zerkers, Fist, Rhino
    8 Zerkers, Fist, Rhino
6 Raptors, 2LC champ, melta, flamer IoS ?
    2 Obliterators

first zerker squad coming along and their ride

    Second zerker squad

Stand in for an Obliterator (not part of the Obliterator cult, rather a spawn which has been "servitored" with the addition of tons of crazy weapons.

My Kharn standin (or If I run as BA I can count-as Mephiston)

Raptor squad, using the two Possessed wings along with these ones I put together with Gargoyle wings. Where Did I get Gargoyle wings? from my shelved Tyranids of course...

    These guys have great character.
The marine charging with the flamer is my favourite. I can just imagine him frying some helpless guardsmen.

Thanks! my next step is to clean the remaining mold lines and base the last greys and spray. Kharn need yellow stuffing (cannot find green stuff)

Im having trouble thinking up mods on the sides and rear of the Rhino, and a final head for 'Kharn'

    Hello...

This seems to be a very good start. I especially like the raptors'packs, but the rest is well done. The concept of the obliterator is great too...

    So, please, continue !

Tanks for the comments! spent the day t the beach and burnt like crazy. tomorrow I hope to get er done as mentioned.

Previously I had CSM in the list, and played test battles, but decided to streamline and put these out of the final list guy on the left was the first. I hope to make the Raptors a bit more like him

Quick Update; I have based the last assembled models and added more yellowstuff and other details.
my household has drank alot of chimay beer... and the cork and wire stopper both seem perfect for modeling. Cork for bases (like my Kharn model) and wire for parts and pinning... its perfect size for my drillbit too.

I used cork, other chopped sprue and runoff bits to give some variety to the models. I also use thinner copper wire as belts/equipment ties.

Hobodog: I added more goodies to the flamer guy too. I like that he is the only model using two hands n his gun, but is no less psycho-killer then his buddies

These guys are really cool. A lot of character in each mini. The fluff is nice too. You really accomplish a complete vision here between the background and the execution.
And that Obliterator is one cool conversion

    Thanks for the comments!
Mr Scratchy, I noticed the metal wings you've got; probably cheaper then mine, and gives them an old-school vibe.
I was going to procure plastic Jump packs but not many options in Japan for doing so (now that the GW export ban is in effect) So I wasted 4 gargoyles for my troubles.

Thanks AtmanAbecedarian, I could've made the truescaling much better but Ive got motivation issues so I kept it simple.

The Oblits buddy is also shaping up... more on that later. Im now group painting the last group shown a bit at a time; making them 3-colors worthy before embellishing the painting. when test-fitting the wings they look awesome maybe pics this weekend

Re: Dugaal - Warp Kings CSM

Ive been traveling Japan so I haven't had much time lately.

I was thinking of how to complete a Blood Angel list without using Obliterators.
the extra 85 points for Mephiston is offset by cheaper Death Company and Assault Marines (thanks chaos codex) so that leaves me with 2 Obliterators to switch out..

I can use Scouts! Perfect considering my list is mostly Death Company which is bad for objective games...
The idea being that these are brutal cultists, not necessarily new marines.

    Mephiston

    8 Death Company, Power Fist

6 JP Assault Marines, 2LC sergeant, Flamer

6 JP Assault Marines, Power Fist, Combat Shield, Meltagun

6 Assault Marines (Mechanized), Power Sword, Melta bomb, Plasma, Rhino

    5 Scouts Bolters/Snipers
    Combi-Plasma

    999 points

Also other views of my Lord (Kharn/Mephiston)

Re: Dugaal - Warp Kings CSM

First 5 are almost finished, I don't have a cool arm left for the sergeant, so I might go with either a mutation, bolt pistol forward firing, or make him holding the combiplas with two hands like the rest.

I need to scratch the sniper rifles and ML, or wait until I visit home to get old scout parts I've got in Canada (at christmas)

Would all bolters and a heavy bolter be viable? I wanted snipers/ML but I can complete the full bolter squad if I wanted to right now...

Also work on second oblit is slow.. I wanted to make spidery legs with left-over gargoyle parts and tentacles but its hard to get started teepeeing all the bits

Re: Dugaal - Warp Kings CSM

So I've finished building everything but another 5 Wings for my new list, and I reconverted all the old bolter marines into BP for the third assault squad in a Rhino.
Here are some wip of the Scouts and the last Marines to be built. These guys all have a place in different squads, some JP, some Rhino.

Nice stuff. If you really wanted to be crazy you could hunt down a copy(pdf) of Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness and give each marine a few rolls on the D1000 mutation table. I'm doing that for a bunch of veterans for my traitor guard.

Re: Dugaal - Warp Kings CSM

Sorry for the lack of replies lately, and thanks for the comments Kaile! I found a digital copy of it http://www.scribd.com/doc/4964072/Re...es-to-Darkness
Everything is already built, save for some sniper scouts so might be too late to hand out gifts (unless I rolled THEN found a suitable model for the rolls) but it might be a good idea if I expand

All the wings are now built and some models are fully together with their wings, so Ill add some pictures of that tomorrow. I continue to add paint to dozen troops at a time (so they all go from tabletop to finished at a balanced pace)
