A succesfull Raid on Bugmans Brewery (Ogre Log)

Next month will be the release of the new Ogre Kingdom Armybook.
A lot of people (and me) are waiting for this book for years...............

The first rumours and pictures are already posted on this and other sites.
And when you read the comments you will find people that hate what they see so far and people who are realy getting enthousiastic!!

I think that I started with ogres in 2004, the same year the armybook came out.
But when the 7th edition of Warhammer came out my Ogres went to the glasscabinet.
They came out for 1 or 2 games when the 8th edition for Warhammer came out and went back in till the new armybook would come out.
    That time is very near............

    So, what is the plan!
First I want to read the new book, if I like what I read, I will review my army. what do I have so far, what has to change and what do I need to add to make a good new army.

When I started my Ogre army in 2004, my theme was: "a succesfull raid on Bugmans Brewery". I still like that idea, so I will go on with that.
That means that my army just plundered the biggest Brewery of the Dwarfs and will be carrying a lot of barrels "with the good stuff" with them!

Now some pictures what I got so far.
Keep in mind that I will re-do some miniatures and some are still WIP.
Most of the miniatures have small conversions on them, but in the years I really like to convert, so I want to make some mayor changes on them!

I have lots more stuff in boxes but they are not worth showing at the moment!

Let me know what you think so far.
I hope you guys give me as much inspirations as with my other two logs.
You have to wait sometimes for up-dates but that's because 24 hours in a day is to less for me with all the things I want and must do..........

    Cheers

I have roughly followed the same route with my Ogres ...... stand side by side some other models on the shelf unused.

I'm just like you planning a good first look and read the new Army Book.
then I will review my Ogres and update them where I find it usefull.

The successful raid on the brewery is a great theme. is also good to work as shown on the models you already have and where you are now undertaking this work.

GREAT modelling, awesome theme. Must be a joy to play with.

I think your painting could do with a little more shading. Some of the metal looks a little flat, some Devlan Mud will do wonders. Just a tip!

Hahaha, that is great that I made your day, hopefully I can do it some more! When I hear the rumours, the Giant will be little better then the old book. But if you do or not like the rules of the Giant, I like the model and will still be playing with it!

You are absolutly right about the shading. As I said, I will be reviewing all my models and re-do them when needed.

Thanks, it would be great if the new rules would permit a Tyrant riding a Giant!

I really like the theme you've executed. To take it that bit further could I suggest a thinned down wash in the flab fold, as a bit of shading will really help these to pop. Also, I love the giant, and envy you for having such a nice model. (Miniature isn't really appropiate)

Thanks Robotlord. I will shade the flesh of the Ogres better, you are right. And you are right about model, this one you can not call a miniature.

Now we are talking about the flesh of the Ogres.
For my Empire army I painted two ogre unitfillers, see below:

What color for the flesh do you guys like more, the grey in the picture in the first posts or the "human" flesh in the picture her above?
I am thinking about re-do all the Ogres with "human" flesh.
Let me know what you think?

    Cheers

Re: A succesfull Raid on Bugmans Brewery (Ogre Log)

I personally prefer the human flesh, looks warmer and more realistic. However, the wash has been allowed to pool on some flat areas, leaving them blotchy. Perhaps just recoat with the basecoat over this to remove the patchy looking skin.

Good to see a new log from you. Like the idea A succesfull Raid on Busmans Brewery. The Ogre on the Giant is a fantastic idea, looks very good. For the flesh choice I prefer the human skinlook.

I definitely vote for skin color

Reading the fluf of the Ogres, they seem in fact Mongols

for my Ogres I took them as an example.

Re: A succesfull Raid on Bugmans Brewery (Ogre Log)

    Finally an update!
I read the armybook, and played some games and I must say:
I really like the new Ogres!!

Here is some stuff I am working on at the moment:

    The Battle Standard Bruiser

The Standard Bearer for my Mournfang Cavalry.
I already had this model and even when they left the Rhinox out of the new armybook, I wanted to use it.

    Again a Standard Bearer!!
    Now from the Ironguts.

Simple swap of the great weapon from a mournfang cavalry rider to a Irongut.

I will up-date this blog more often, but the spirit was lost a little bit........

I think it would be cool if you had one of the banners have a barrel uncorked with the ogre holding the banner mouth open guzzling it down.
